Not long until Jodie Whittakers last episode. What are peoples predictions/thoughts/hopes.?

I think she regenerates back into David Tennant, rather than the new doctor actor that was announced.

Would like to see the whole ‘the doctor isn’t from gallifey’ storyline being a big lie from the master. But unfortunately I don’t think they are going to do that.

I do think the plots are a bit rushed and overly complicated at the moment

TMI and I feel exhausted watching JW rushing about and she does sound like Sue Pollard in Hi de Hi

I prefer the slower plots of earlier series in some ways

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/10/2022 17:51

Thanks for that Toothbrush
I'm rather glad. I watched the regen last night but I may not bother with the whole episode.

They surely are conscious that the viewing figures have tanked during this period, I'm pretty sure that's why DT was drafted in, to lure people back. I think they may just move swiftly on.

PuttingDownRoots · 24/10/2022 17:51

This episode could have definitely been a 2 or 3 part one. I was getting a bit less with train then Russia then dalek then volcanos then UNIT then regeneration then Graham...

I did like the historical JW episodes like Rosa Parks. I wasn't a big Capaldi fan but liked Clara.

@dillite you don't happen to know the episode, do you please ?

It is episode 11 of series 36 called World Enough and Time. There are 2 episodes. Here's the link Doctor Who, Series 10: 11. World Enough and Time: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b08wx21f via @bbciplayer

@dillite Oh, THANK YOU :)
I have an exceptionally rare 2 hours tonight when both my autistic teens are out of the house. Not only can I watch it in peace, I can then oh-so-casually quote the episode to them (which will stun them as they are total Who-vians) Yay!!

now, to find where I can stream it ...

54isanopendoor · 24/10/2022 18:11

Doh! I see you provided the iPlayer link...
(sorry, over excited ;)

Thank goodness I didn't see the OP of this thread before watching!

Sadly I did! Title says "possible" spoilers but was an actually fucking spoiler RIGHT AWAY.

Cheers for that!

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 19:44

well i stopped watching after half an hour last night, due to cooking, and then read the thread and so had to see DT for myself, happy days. shame about the spoiler

I agree. It wasn't speculation or "possible" spoiler at all.

Is it just me, or were Ace and Tegan not very good actors?

Loved the support group.

I didn't quite understand how the Master could turn the Doctor into him. I thought regeneration just gave the Doctor a new body and it was the same person inside.

I think the writer of the jodie whittaker series has been pretty poor and has taken too many liberties with the story and the fantasy world within it. Hopefully RTD will sort it all out.

I was just reading that because of the amount it earns abroad, Dr Who is worth more to the the UK than our entire fishing industry!

wow that’s an incredible stat!

Bythehairywartsonmywitchychin · 24/10/2022 22:08

I really hope the next doctor picks the series back up again. I loved David Tennant and Peter Capaldi as the Dr and got emotional when they regenerated. Not sure what’s gone on with JW, is it the poor writing or acting or a combination of both?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/10/2022 22:15

Feel free to correct me if I'm off piste, but as The Master is essentially a Gallifreyan who went bad, is that how he can? And didn't John Sims Master do something similar?

You mean when he got the Dr to turn into him?

I'm not an expert but in fantasy worlds there's generally immutable rules and I think the new Dr who has worked hard to keep to them / keep them simple...Having the master do this seems a step too far?

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 24/10/2022 23:39

My thoughts are vague, I'm afraid, I only half watched Sundays and can't remember the details of the one from a while back

RoachTheHorse · 25/10/2022 05:42

John Sim made everyone on earth, near enough a clone of him, but not the doctor. He aged the doctor into a wizened old thing in a cage.

RhannionKPSS · 26/10/2022 04:22

The reason the next series is only coming out late next year is to celebrate 60 years since the first episode in November 1963.
