Not long until Jodie Whittakers last episode. What are peoples predictions/thoughts/hopes.?

I think she regenerates back into David Tennant, rather than the new doctor actor that was announced.

Would like to see the whole ‘the doctor isn’t from gallifey’ storyline being a big lie from the master. But unfortunately I don’t think they are going to do that.

Purely to distract them whilst Teagan got down to the basement to set off the building's self destruct.

Oh got it now thanks.

Agree the 90 mins zipped by.

JFDIYOLO · 23/10/2022 23:07

Nice to see all those doctors and the companion support group - of COURSE they'd need one. Sacha was fab - 'the Master's Dalek plan' 😁. Tennaaaaaaaaant!!!
Donnaaaaaaaa!!!
My fave phase 2 doctor & companion.
Ra Ra Rasputin - yes they went there. And why tf not.

ErrolTheDragon · 23/10/2022 23:13

So...we accidentally caught the last few minutes of Dr Who, tuned in early for Bloodlands instead of watching it on iPlayer at a random time.

We gave up on the JW doctor after the first few episodes as they were crap. There seems to be general approval on this thread for tonight's, do you have to have watched the series to follow it or does it stand alone please?
And did anything happen overall during the JW phase that might be relevant if we start watching again? Hoping DT wasn't a temporal anomaly....

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 23/10/2022 23:16

I have to cosign this, because, like Errol, the poster below I also gave up on the JW/CC era VERY early doors, the writing was terrible, and she grated on me.

Rummikub · 23/10/2022 23:20

I think you can watch it standalone.
tbh I couldn't remember anything much from the series anyway.

Tragicroundabout · 23/10/2022 23:51

Apologies if I've missed this elsewhere in the thread, but who was the child in the cargo hold (I wondered if it was supposed to be to the timeless child but nothing really got made of it) and what happened to them? Wasn't sure if I just wasn't paying attention.....

PinkFrogss · 23/10/2022 23:54

So excited for the episodes next year! Love DT and love Donna!

Im also very interested to see where the story goes, “Rose” is back, played by one of the HeartStopper cast. But not exactly sure where that will fit in either.

I haven’t really enjoyed the series since Matt Smith left and I have missed quite a few episodes, but I think it’s headed in the right direction again at last

It wasn’t really a child - although I thought it was the timeless child at first too!

It was some sort of powerful being that disguised itself so other protect it, it was the big red ball thing with lots of lines coming out of it that was powering the planet

Dryadia · 24/10/2022 00:11

Damn, I guessed David Tennant would be involved at the end, esp when he didn't appear at the crossroads, but I really hoped he would be the master's regen.

Now having David regen at the end into that role would have broken the internet.

Tragicroundabout · 24/10/2022 09:20

@PinkFrogss Thanks, that makes more sense - hadn't twigged they were the same thing!

Idontknowhowtohelpher · 24/10/2022 10:45

I enjoyed that more than I expected to - and Jodie is a really fine actor! Is it true that we have to wait until November 2023 for the next episodes?

SoupDragon · 24/10/2022 11:57

I caught something on the radio this morning that I think said the next full series isn't until 2024!

maybe there will be a few specials...? Surely there's a Christmas one!

LeMoo · 24/10/2022 12:04

I'm looking forward to the RTD takeover and brilliant to have David Tennant and Donna back together! I couldn't watch the Jodie Whittaker series at all, she's great but the writing was terrible.

Last night's episode only worth watching for all the star actors in it and DT return. I agree I hope the child of gallifrey of storyline is reversed (its hugely overcomplicating and weighs the story down) and Sacha Dawan is absolutely brilliant. If he features with DT and Donna, the next episodes will be fantastic.

I'd really love to see Chris Eccleston come back but I think he fell out badly with RDT, which is such a shame.

JustDanceAddict · 24/10/2022 12:04

I also put on the last 10 mins and was v excited to see DT. I haven’t watched it properly since Matt Smith. Last two Doctors haven’t interested me.

LeMoo · 24/10/2022 12:05

@SoupDragon 3 specials next year I think with David Tennant and Catherine tate in preparation for ncuti in 2024.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 13:34

also so looking forward to david tennant for a few episodes and then Ncuti Gatwa

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 13:35

i stopped watching when matt smith left, and my dc grown up

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 13:37

i thought Ncuti was january 2023?

Literally just watch last night's episode and skip the entire Jodie Whittaker era.

One thing that bugged me was the extent to which the (female) doctor was helpless and had to be saved by others to a degree that hasn't happened before.

I read Christopher Eccleston left because he called out Noel Clarke's behaviour and no-one backed him up.

LOVED him as Dr Who. And MS and DT.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 24/10/2022 13:37

Nope.

Whats dead interesting is there is no Dr Who Christmas / New Year special this year. So big gap in the scheduling there.

LeMoo · 24/10/2022 13:59

@JamMakingWannaBe he's given more open interviews in last couple of years after he was screwed over by the BBC. He called out bullying on set generally I think (in addition to..?) and I think he referred to bullying against staff on lower rungs.

I remember he said he felt RTD as show runner had a duty to do something about it but he didn't. And that he & RTD/bbc came to a mutual agreement about the explanation for his departure but then they put it out it was down to exhaustion which killed his career for several years. He comes across as very honourable and I hope the issue with RTD is more nuanced than Chris' side of the story because he's such a talented writer but who knows?

medianewbie · 24/10/2022 14:02

dillite · 23/10/2022 21:33

Peter Capaldi and Bill. That's how she died.

@dillite you don't happen to know the episode, do you please ?

LeMoo · 24/10/2022 17:44

@dillite I think she was only in one series so it'll probably be the finale of it. Iplayer has pictures for all episodes so should be easy to find.
