Ok have watched Jayde
thought her and Mollie's dances were just as dreadful
really poor choreography
and jayde doesn't dance

Hobnobswantshernameback · 23/10/2022 17:14

And the more I watch the more the theme music thing is probably the worst idea ever

Can’t do it, won’t do it
My leotard is far too tight
I’m seething’, not breathin’
My lungs have given up the fight
My belly, like jelly
No one ever wobbles quite like me on telly,
I’ve had it, let’s not do it tonight.

I can’t do it, I won’t do it,
My feet just feel like sweat and pus,
Flesh flappin’, it needs wrappin’,
I think I’m going to buy a truss

heel leadin, not succeedin,
don’t make me learn a fleckerl it’ll do ma heid in,
let’s not do it, I can’t do it tonight

This is about you? I've not seen you on the telly?

ArcaneWireless · 23/10/2022 17:17

hobnobs

I agree with the theme tune stuff - it didn’t add to the majority of dances in my very humble and quite possible slightly wonky opinion.

Thank god I’ll be long gone by the BBC’s 200th anniversary…

Hobnobswantshernameback · 23/10/2022 17:19

I just want some ballroom and latin
its like bake off
give me some scones and vikky sponge
done well
simple
basic
no gimmicks
maybe I'm an old fart

ArcaneWireless · 23/10/2022 17:20

it rhymed with belly and jelly. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can’t say anything on here any more without someone having a pop.

It was supposed to be fun.

I give up. 😔

Aston Merrygold was a travesty.

I don’t get the love for Tony at all. All the ex footballers must be voting for him. I’d like a dance off between Jayde and Tony, with both going. Failing that, one can go this week and one next.

I'm not a football fan personally although Tony is a legend in my wider family. What I love about Tony is that he has no dance experience whatsoever but is improving week on week and is willing to have a go at whatever Katya throws at him. He also seems like a genuine lovely bloke and is always so supportive to the other dancers.

He's not the best dancer by a long shot but he is better than Jayde and he does not deserve the shit scoring he gets in comparison. I'd be more than happy for him to go once Jayde has gone.

Canthinkofaname79 · 23/10/2022 17:31

If you're saying its about you fair enough but it reads like several people, not just one, are starting to be quite personal about jayde and her weight.

Could someone who knows more than I do about music/dancing explain how the Line Of Duty theme was used for a Viennese waltz? It starts off in 3/4 time then clearly speeds up and switches to 4/4 half way through. I was waiting for one of the judges to pick up on it, but they didn't!

I think the time signature could have been 12/8.
Each ‘bong’ of the piano melody is a slow crotchet beat, with a triplet pulse underneath it when we first hear it, and that’s the speed the dancers’ feet are moving at. Each 4 note phrase of the melody (ie each bar) takes 12 steps to complete in the first half.
The triplet pulse remains the same throughout, but the melody gets played at twice the speed over the top, so each four note phrase of the melody now only takes 6 steps (half a bar) to complete. The drums stay with the pulse, it’s only the melody that is contracted. However long the phrase lasts, it goes into 12.
I’m not explaining it very well (clearly a diagram is needed!) but it’s a bit like ‘America’ from WSS where the melody has the emphasis ONE two three ONE two three ONE two ONE two ONE two but the six pulse keeps chugging along underneath, and both phrases add up to six no matter where you put the emphasis.
I’m surprised the judges didn’t mention it too, Will did well to still hear the three underneath.

FolornLawn · 23/10/2022 18:09

Oh god that was long, sorry. Blush

I really want a week where they have to dance Basics, like you get in some competitions. No faff, no fancy lifts and moves, just the basics done well.

Just like Bake Off needs to get back to a decent sponge and get away from all of the Scale Models af Chartres Cathedral in Marzipan, Feta Cheese and Pecan Cracknel with the labyrinth constructed in 11 different fish-flavoured mirror-icings.

Don't give up @ArcaneWireless
I love your verses!!!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 23/10/2022 18:29

@Emotionalsupportviper

And no gross fish sandwich nonsense

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 23/10/2022 18:33

The thing with Tony's popularity is that he is a throwback to the earlier era of the show when it was more about amateurs learning a skill.

The first series was a Sport Relief special, about learning to dance

It's a much different beast now

Emotionalsupportviper · 23/10/2022 18:33

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/10/2022 21:11

Shame we can't vote for who we want to leave. I would be voting as much as I could for Jayde

So would I, she isn't enjoyable to watch, and is highly irritating in general

I also find all the girly cuddles and nose boops very uncomfortable!

FFS - none of the mixed sex couples carry on like that, Johannes and John didn't when they danced as a same-sex pair, but Jayde and Karen seem to be constantly patting and hugging each other. - it's just creepy.

Emotionalsupportviper · 23/10/2022 18:37

keepcalm11 · 22/10/2022 22:16

What about if they make Neil a judge, and then he's guaranteed a spot in the limelight and wont have to photo bomb behind Claud .
Opinions plaese ?

But then we'd have to look at his smug, self-satisfied, face even more . . .

If you're saying its about you fair enough but it reads like several people, not just one, are starting to be quite personal about jayde and her weight.

In fairness, she's gone on about it enough herself.

Wasn't it her "thing" during the Flashdance week that she was there representing those who felt they couldn't/shouldn't dance because of their size? (Complete with tears obviously)

And I do agree that whilst (as Hamza shows so beautifully) you can be overweight and still a damn good dancer, I have no doubt whatsoever that once Jayde gets eliminated, there'll be a lot of her moaning she was penalised because of her size rather than the truth of the fact which is she's (for me) the celebrity that's made least progress, and likes to manipulate the public. I didn't know her before Strictly, and she's not someone I'll be looking out for in future.

I'm gobsmacked at the judges last night. I'm not a huge Kym fan and whilst liking Graziano as a person, I've never seen him having the "oomph" that professionals like Johannes, Karen, Katya, Giovanni seem to bring to their choreography, but jeez he and Kym must be going wtaf today and I quite understand Kym's face which said it all.

Re Jayde being overmarked, the only reason I can think of is that the judges are treating her as if she has a disability. They can't mark Ellie S down for not being able to do something outside of her physical ability, and in the same way they're making allowances for Jayde not really being able to move around much (which is a bit of a drawback in a dance competition).

If that's so it's disgraceful!

Hamza has shown that bigger people can be light-on their feet and agile; Lisa Riley also demonstrated it the season that she was on - she was a brilliant dancer.

Largeness is not, in itself, a disability - just as some slim people can't dance for love nor money, some big ones can't either. Jayde is just a rubbish dancer.

Checking in for the results show!

FuzzyPuffling · 23/10/2022 18:49

Ooh Neanderthal dance....MOONAH!!!

ApolloandDaphne · 23/10/2022 18:50

David Atten-dance!

Sunbird24 · 23/10/2022 18:50

Can we get David Attenborough in to narrate all the group dances?

Emotionalsupportviper · 23/10/2022 18:51

LaMarschallin · 23/10/2022 08:42

Am I the only one who remembers the original Come Dancing?
I was barely out of the womb, of course <cough>, but particularly remember all the details they used to give about the - often homemade - dresses.
Things like "28 layers of tulle" and "80 squillion sequins...and she sewed all of them on by herself" became proper catch phrases.

YES!

I said exactly the same to DH - except I had 40 layers of tulle and her mother sewed all 5 billion sequins on by hand..

(Also The Goodies skit - "Nigel is a chartered accountant and Stella is a Hair Artiste")

FuzzyPuffling · 23/10/2022 18:51

As long as he doesn't lecture me on climate change.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 23/10/2022 18:51

This is reminding me of being at school drama class & being told to imagine we were animals 😆

sadly David Attenborough didn’t narrate those
