I was a Brosette back when I was 11 .Still
have a soft spot for Matt now . Sad to see him go tonight but in all fairness I’m not shocked .

remoteblanket · 16/10/2022 20:24

Glad Matt has gone - really did not think much of his dancing.

ArcaneWireless · 16/10/2022 20:24

Rumba to the theme from Versailles.

And a wee dance to Oasis ‘Half a world away’ from the Royle Family. Could be beautiful.

awaynboilyurheid · 16/10/2022 20:25

Yes think Anton is a great judge, but why is Jade still in? I’m just seeing stomping and struggling to get any lightness in her footwork,
kym looks like she’s phoning it it, she did try harder in the dance off but never looks that happy.
Matt was a strange one but maybe Nadia seen another side to him, it was first time we saw genuine human emotion in his leaving speech.

JemimaTab · 16/10/2022 20:26

I did find Matt uncomfortable to watch because he never seemed to be enjoying it much. I don’t think it’s what he expected it to be, somehow.

I guess in the end he didn’t really have the voting base to keep him there. There may still be some Bros fans out there, but Bros was such a long time ago and they burned out quite quickly. You rarely hear the songs. It must really mess with your head to have that sort of crazy fame so young (they were barely 20 I think), and then for it all to fizzle out. And that documentary was so strange.
I expect he’s relieved it’s over.

Vapeyvapevape · 16/10/2022 20:00

That was the most genuine goodbye speech I've seen on Strictly.

I agree.

Oh Matt!!! 😭

I found him incredibly fragile - his ego and self-esteem seemed brittle. Every comment from him made me feel like he was no longer resilient enough to be in the public eye. What has he been doing for 25 years?

woodhill · 16/10/2022 20:38

I didn't rate Will this week or Jayde

WeAreTheHeroes · 16/10/2022 20:46

They weren't that long ago! I think they were very much of their time and their songs don't have the longevity of some of their contemporaries. The fact Matt and Luke have been in the US for so long mean they have lost the connection with Bros's UK fanbase in a way other groups haven't. They were not successful in the US so what they have done there is not really connected with their boyband past.

FelicityFlops · 16/10/2022 20:59

Matt needed to go. Anyone can see that he is drugged up to his eyeballs. As for being a musician, I would have expected better timing.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 16/10/2022 21:00

I had a look at some clips of Matt on YouTube, to see what he's like in his comfort zone - and there he was, singing When will I be Famous, on Strictly 9 years ago! Bet he never thought then that he'd be back as a contestant!

IReallyLikeCrows · 16/10/2022 21:03

Matt had a residency in Las Vegas for years.

Bros were that long ago. They ended in 1992 which was 30 years ago and were only hugely big from about 87-89 max so it's closer to 35 years ago. Most people under the age of 40 will not have had much knowledge of them at all. Which is depressing in what it says about how fucking old I am, but there you go.

Emotionalsupportviper · 16/10/2022 21:21

ArcaneWireless · 16/10/2022 20:04

Says what I wanted to.

I’d have rather seen the nose boppers go.

Same here.I wasn't at all keen on him at the start but He's relaxed and I've warmed to him a LOT.

There is an air of tragedy about him.

I would have liked him to stop a bit longer.

SequinsandStilettos · 16/10/2022 21:23

Been done:
Dr Who

Cricket Only fools and horses Hi de Hi (costumes not song) Apprentice (montagues and capulets) Rock DJ .............................................. Confirmed: James - Foxtrot (Eastenders theme, lifting Jake's Queen Vic set) Tony - Cha Cha Cha (Grandstand) Jayde - Charleston (Victoria Wood) Ellie T - Casualty theme Will - Viennese Waltz Molly - Couple’s Choice Helen - Blue Peter

Someone purloins the Dr Who tango, if Matt out already. (?)

Personally, I would love a group dance to Chi Mai

GreenLunchBox · 16/10/2022 21:24

Where is Luke Goss these days? What's the story with him and Matt?

munchbunch12 · 16/10/2022 21:28

Ooooh I love Chi Mai. They could make it a bautiful, moving dance.

SequinsandStilettos · 16/10/2022 21:30

I genuinely think - whilst it would have been a shame for Nancy, that Will ought to have gone and been allowed to recover properly from Covid.
He ought not have been dancing yesterday and should have had a bye or been eliminated.

I think he should have been allowed to sit out the episode, he was clearly ill.

SequinsandStilettos · 16/10/2022 21:38

If forced to dance to a BBC tie-in, I would be dancing to this Wink

ShakeYourFeathers · 16/10/2022 21:42

I agree! He would have done if he had sprained his ankle. I think even more so because his narrative for the dance was Mens health. Ok more mental health in particular but it's hand in hand and how you should look after yourself. Pushing yourself to dance when you're feeling shit isn't that.

munchbunch12 · 16/10/2022 21:43

Hahaha yes @SequinsandStilettos or there could be a couples choice (street/commercial) to the Marcus Licinius Crassus (I'm minted) song

He could have strained his heart, stressing himself with a virus. That's why you have to rest.

SussexRoyal · 16/10/2022 21:46

He could have also passed it to everyone else!

Maireas · 16/10/2022 21:48

High risk for Nancy
