Aw bless Nancy Dellollipop. And Monkseal.
Anton has appeared a lot, so I do feel the need to post his rumba with Katie Derham as balance.

2Rebecca · 11/10/2022 16:26

It was better when it was ballroom and latin dances, ideally everyone should do the same dance each week so people having a difficult dance early aren't disadvantaged. They should go back to dancing not acting and role play . If the same dance for all they could actually discuss the dance itself. I hate the pre-dance videos and fast forward them. I'd rather have someone talk about the dance and show some dancing techniques not meet their best friend/ gran/ dog/ some famous person

SequinsandStilettos · 11/10/2022 16:32
Week three - current series DWTS they had EIGHT rumbas for Bond week.
SequinsandStilettos · 11/10/2022 16:39
Gleb and Shangela
Bluffinwithmymuffin · 11/10/2022 16:53

Thanks!⬆️
How could I have forgotten Laila’s ankle debacle? Felt a bit sorry for Emma, so the clear winner for me was CV for that abomination
Wish I’d seen series 1 and 2.

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 11/10/2022 16:54

... oh, and here come some more! Thanks Sequins

SequinsandStilettos · 11/10/2022 16:59

You are welcome. For anyone who isn't a follower of RuPaul, Shangela is a 39-year-old, 5 ft 10, 11 stone drag queen so Gleb did a damned good job of swooping them.
Have to feed my kiddies now. Sashays away. Wink

Couple's Choice dances I've liked are:

  • Charles & Karen
  • Faye & Giovanni
  • Bill & Oti
  • Rose & Giovanni

And that's it.

I don't mind if they keep it, but it should only be for the later weeks (like the Argentine Tango), perhaps for the final 6.

Agree
Those are the only CC I liked .’
Really dislike all the contemporary wafty Couple’s Choice dances

There was an article on Facebook this morning reporting fans are bored of the show that It's repetitive and tired. I was thinking the sake this morning - same catchphrases, themes, presenters and judges (though I'm fine with anton) it needs a bit of a shake up doesn't it?

Definitely needs a shakeup.
Need to get rid of some of the pros who are really not up to it
In the older series many of the pros could do both ballroom and Latin ( with the exception of Anton whose Latin was atrocious) .
In recent years the ballroom hasn’t been up to scratch.
Also , I don’t like many of the pro dances of recent years. It has been great to see some of the old pro dances on this thread

Shirley needs to go. Really had high hopes for her at the beginning but have become increasingly annoyed with her lack of professionalism and blatant favouritism
Karen Hardy would be my number one choice

Motsi needs to be replaced. She is a lovely woman, but still doesn’t give enough technical advice
Not quite sure who should replace her

Need to stick to showing rehearsal footage.
Not really interested in seeing the London Dungeon or any other London attractions.

Really need to go back to the drawing board.
SCD is a great show, but some changes are needed

the80sweregreat · 11/10/2022 17:59

I like Claud and Tess.
Agee that maybe there should be a shake up somewhere, but it's a format that works so they probably scared to mess around with it too much!

Topgub · 11/10/2022 18:01

Do folk really care how technically perfect the dances are?!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/10/2022 18:05

Yes — otherwise they might as well just do the same dance every week to different music. The different dances all have their own fingerprint, and the different steps and technique are a part of that.

That's how I feel anyway.

@PolkadotsAndMoonbeams

Well, no.

Surely part of the appeal of strictly is that some people are rubbish?

And that some improve?

But no one actually expects non dancers to be able to be technically perfect in a matter of weeks?

Or really cares if the do a heel lead or whatever Shirley was moaning about?

As long as it loos vaguely right?

the80sweregreat · 11/10/2022 18:25

I enjoy the bad contestants as much as the good ( ringas) or whatever!
Nancy d olio ( wrong spelling ) and her creaky coffin for Halloween was ace.

logana · 11/10/2022 18:34

I'm pretty tired of it now but Craig still keeps me watching. He's the only judge in my view who tells the truth. Tony Beak is morphing into Len and is becoming a caricature. Motsi is irritating. And Shirley, who I used to like, has become a nasty piece of work.

I miss the proper ballroom dancing and sparkly dresses. I'm not sure who they're aiming at now. Lots of people I know, women in their 50s and over, who've watched since the beginning and really enjoyed it have stopped watching.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/10/2022 18:35

Oh yes, I always like a journey.

And no, they can't be perfect in a week.

Heel leads in ballroom are really important though — go forward on your toe and you stop your movement, so you'll never get that gliding across the floor look. It applies in waltz/foxtrot/Viennese/quickstep/American smooth (tango is a little bit different), so their other dances will be better for trying to get that right.

(And to be honest, if you go back to the social dancing idea rather than show/competitive, ballroom dancing is really based on walking around together in funny directions. When you step forward, you'd naturally step on your heel, not your toe. It isn't really a technique!)

I dont think the vast majority of viewers are concentrating on foot work.

Entertainment is more important

EsmaCannonball · 11/10/2022 18:37

Vito doing an Artem and getting the chest out in a shameless play for votes. What filth!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 11/10/2022 18:49

I like a bit of both. Smile But then I dance.

I suppose you could say what's the point of having judges qualified in Latin and ballroom if they're not going to talk about how it should be done.

That Rhumba was nice 👌

EsmaCannonball · 11/10/2022 18:52

Nikita is such an instant classic on Strictly and ITT. I know one of his grandmothers got out of Ukraine but, IIRC, his other grandparents and aunt are in Kyiv. He must have so much other stuff on his mind at the moment.

I love the Katie and Anton rumba but my all-time favourite is Rachel and Vincent.

SHAMELESS indeed!

I remember Ola Jordan wearing the skimpiest costume if her partner wasn't great 😃

CrushingAndClueless · 11/10/2022 18:56

But why was his hair in such a state during his dance with Carlos?

I found it so distracting. He looked like he’d been dragged through a hedge backwards 😂

toomuchlaundry · 11/10/2022 19:02

When do they film that bit of the show when they have a guest singer?
