Oh Johnathan. I wish Sophie had turned it around on him about the weight issue. Men gain weight for health issues and as they age as well. It's not just women. Dh and I are vastly different to how we looked when we met 30 years ago. It's part of marriage to accept the ageing process in your partner. Johnathan is the type to demand three kids then up and leave to find someone slimmer. Run Sophie RUN. I think Sophie is an absolute sweetheart. She needs someone like Jordan.

Titney were definitely short changed with their partners. Whitney & Duka had nothing at all to work on. Duka is far too placid and laid back for someone like Whitney who wants to be bowled over by a big personality, as she said so herself many times. Matt & Gemma were doomed for the first 'You're not getting much sleep tonight' comment. For all his faults I sympathise with Matt. Maybe on paper they were a good match but something relatively small can cause the ick this difficult to come back from. He was very open and honest right from the start that he didn't like her crude language. Gemma did nothing to fix that and actually turned it around on him. I think there was a lot unseen with those two.

However Titney should have waited, voted leave and got together once off the show. That wouldn't have done much for the ratings though would it? Cynical me says they did get together quietly but producers persuaded them to do the teacup and bridge scene AFTERWARDS to create a neat little story.

I agree about Johnathon. I prefer plain speaking. Compare with how Kwame has tied himself in knots trying NOT to say he prefers petite women. I mean - which is preferable? Always the honesty for me. Johnathon's mis-step was the part when he said to Sophie [something like], '...don't do what they do at the gym, I don't like horse legs on women...' It was borderline controlling and none of his business.

Also with Matt - everyone rightly condemning him for his aggression. But let's not forget Gemma's highly aggressive response to his actions. She's no slouch in the shouty and insulting department. And ordering him to 'SIT DOWN' last night? Erm, no.

I like Johnathan not giving a shit. BUT he'll never ever ever find a lasting relationship if he's not empathetic to their feelings while he spouts his opinions.

Johnathan reminds me of a bf I had - who was all about 'just being honest' but ironically you end up never sure where you stand with them eg Johnathan is making it clear he likes small women but then when Sophie heads to the gym, he's unhappy about that too. Somehow Sophie is supposed to stay a size 10 without exercising.
Then they had sex on the honeymoon but suddenly he's not sure he finds her attractive. He's giving very mixed signals.
It's all about him. There's no mention or consideration for what Sophie might like in a partner - I'm guessing she'd like someone who still finds you attractive after you sleep with them and someone who has some emotional intelligence.

I agree that it seems scripted, the way they were saying in that they had noticed something between Whitney and Matt, something just didn't seem right about that.

Matt is so aggressive but then so is Gemma, they are both very full on. I do feel like there is a lot that hasn't been shown as he seemed to turn off her immediately and never gave it a chance, I also find it hard to believe that she constantly was that full on with sex talk.

We don't seem to see much of the couples at all, just lots of staged drama. It actually makes the Australian one seem very genuine.
