A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Shows marked with an asterisk are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. A few of us are learning Korean, Japanese and/or Mandarin (some more diligently than others admittedly), so we swap tips and links to language resources. Basically, anything topical goes.

@FedUpWithBriiiiick I think it was me 🙂 We saw them on tour back in May. Already flagged as one to watch by Namjoon, but I didn't know that when we booked. They were excellent live, and their back catalogue is well worth an explore.

Thanks for the FurQ clip. We just watched it over dinner and had a good laugh. The Easy Lover sample really makes it. 👌 One of the reasons I like Korean (and Brazilian) hip hop is because I can tell when the lyrics are really foul. I am able to enjoy the music. It really harshes my mellow when the Korean rappers slip into English swears. 😄

Confession time - gearing up for a Sunday breakfast of happy hip wiggling cheese with an online ticket for Jo Jung Suk's concert. My mate's coming over for coffee, croissants and Aloha (and hopefully some of the rest of the Hospital Playlist cast) 😉

You can keep Choi Daniel Rowdy. I can see he is in classic oppa territory and ticks numerous boxes but he doesn’t float my boat in Daily Webtoon at all, not even a flicker. Was he in something else which showcased his talents, because I’m really not seeing it? Does he have Dong-Mae type role where he’s a scorching tsundere or Mr Gu sexy? He’s in my sweet spot height/build-wise so I find his lack of appeal (to me) mystifying.

I've never seen him in anything else, but for some reason I really really like him in Today's Webtoon - I will definitely be looking up his other dramas, maybe he's in something where he has long hair! 😍 Then he will really tick all the boxes 😂

I'm quite happy to keep him all to myself anyway 😁
