Ulrika Johnson has a great article in todays Sun. I’m hoping the backlash from Womens aid and Refuge regarding the awful way Dami and Luca have behaved means that the producers make sure that neither Luca or Dami win the show.

I don't think the producers will change anything about the set up of the show.
If anything each year becomes more fake.
They will never stop manipulating and deciding who their favourites are.
Strange as if they backed off this thread would have had loads more pages and discussions like few years ago.
By inferring in every little thing, you never get to see real relationships and friendships organically. Everything is contrived and false.
There are friendships in there but it's not shown as perhaps more of that is less sctriped and we can't possible show that... might give the game away!

Completely agree with this. Also Natalia's 'Ekin Who - you're no one to me' comment was just plain nasty. And that's what prompted my nasty bitch comment which some were offended by.

The argument and pancake challenge was staged so can't judge it.

I can't see producers having that as a bottom two, they'd pull out the bottom three if that were the case. Either way I'm sure the islanders will get to pick anyway...or they could just dump the bottom two couples flat out and respect the viewer vote...nah...why would they do that?!

Gosh I hope not. She hasn’t exactly come across as charismatic so far. Even on her one to one dates, it was cripplingly stilted and dull. I’ve had better conversations while in a queue at Tesco!

Agree. That wasn’t real. Id say a very small percentage of any of it is real anymore though.

After that I couldn’t care who wins as they’re all equally as bad as one another. And I’m tired of listening to ppl moan that they mustn’t be criticised because of their MH. They applied for the show. They’ve watched all the other series and seen the outcomes and media coverage.

The contestants from the first year of two of BB and LI were unsure. These lot want the coverage and realise and are told beforehand that coverage is good/nice and bad/awful.

I agree with this. The obvious drama from ES that came out of absolutely no where was clearly fake and the 'pancake challenge' there wasn't a reason for it! it was obvious D was sticking with ES. I found most chats that the boys have about their feelings quite fake. In real life boys don't generally talk about feeling especially not on regular basis , I do wish it was more authentic. I get its love island but a bit of realism would be so much better to it. It's got worse as years go on. Think has become quite blatant which I don't like.

I’ve decided this will be the last year I will watch it. I feel I’m supporting bullying, misogynistic behaviour. My daughters are younger and I’d hate them to watch this show and model their behaviour and their perception of relationships from this show.

I think this every year and then will watch! I do worry that the behaviour is just normalised and producers do have a responsibility to the influence they have over teens with love island, but every year money and ratings matter more

I agree. The main reason I watch it is exactly because I have two teenage daughters (17 and 18) who watch it religiously not because they particularly love it but because all their friends are watching it. FOMO is a big thing when you are seventeen. It’s nice to have something to watch with my girls as we don’t really have any other shared interests (their preferred tv is anime) and we can all laugh and complain and theorise during the ad breaks.
I also wanted to be there to call out the misogyny/gas lighting/toxic behaviour etc but thankfully they are spotting it now as easily as I can, which is a relief.
Last year was problematic (Faye and Teddy in particular) but at least there was a fair share of really funny stuff too. I occasionally have a little snigger when I remember Toby doing some vengeful bicep curls after he lost at some daft race. Chloe was fun too. And dreadful Hugo, he was inadvertently hilarious.
No one has come close to them this year. I had high hopes for Antigone but the Islanders in their wisdom chose the nice but dull Danica instead.
I really want there to be water-cooler National tv series and events, but this year has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I think this series is better than last year's though. But that's because I thought that one was dire, so anything is going to be an improvement

I TRY not to take life too seriously but definitely will not watch this show again. So staged and favouritism towards certain characters. Dammi n Luca are not nice boys. Gemma n Indiyah look ridiculous sticking with their sh*t behaviour. What's happening in background and what's being edited. Can't trust it so bye bye Love Island.

Wonder if they'll manage to find anything funny for unseen bits tonight? We are definitely lacking anyone with good humour, or maybe we have been spoilt before with people like Chris and Kem, and the other Chris (the salmon jumps into the pool etc).

The producers are obviously v keen for the public to love Luca again. Did anyone else notice at last night’s recoupling, after Tash gave her speech and Andrew walked over to her, the camera panned to Luca and he had a huge smile on his face.

Yes I noticed that and straight away thought 'fake smile to try and look like a nice guy who's happy for them'.

At this point I don't really care about anything except I passionately don't want Dami or Luca to be in the winning couple.

I remember feeling the same way last year about Faye - but it came very close!

Placemarking; I've been away all week and now bingeing episodes since last Monday (Soz DH).

Partway through the suck and blow episode so far. Dami & Luca both make my stomach heave, pair of absolute pricks.

Yeah noticed it too. More like the producers smacked it into our faces.

I can't take LI seriously anymore since they went against their usual format and didn't let the newbies pick first in the recoupling. Utterly contrived.

Anyone watching unseen bits? Apparently Billy used to lock his teachers out of classrooms, in case anyone wanted further proof of him being a twat

Unseen bits still spends time showing stuff we have already seen. Yawn.
I would prefer to watch 2 hours of the girls getting ready than what we see in the main show.
And watching people put makeup/ hair is kinda boring and not my thing.
But least you would get to know them better!
