I've been watching with my 13 year old daughter and it's been great to show her unacceptable behaviour, that is sometimes excused. Luca's possesiveness, for example, is not romantic or something to aspire to, and Gemma handles it perfectly. She's a wonderful role model. Straight talking and doesn't take shit.
Interesting that Gemma said early on she didn't trust Jacques when she went out with him. We can see why. I don't buy all the "he's just immature and doesn't know how to communicate" comments. Men's bad behaviour is so often excused as them being immature etc, but that's no excuse for hurting people. I'm loving that Paige hasn't given into him; she's demonstrating that she knows her worth and I hope she doesn't give him another chance. He's not coming across well, and for his family to blame his behaviour on ADHD is poor. Perhaps his they've always colluded with and excused his bad behaviour. No wonder he thinks he can get away with anything.
Andrew is awful. Awful. Typical "I was angry, that's why I did it", i.e., blaming Tasha for his behaviour. He needs to go. We've never seen them have fun as a couple, which is what the early stages of a relationship should be about.
So much of this is very common male behaviour and it's quite good to see it clearly on screen.
Someone asked about same-sex couples and it did happen early on where two women coupled up, but it didn't last long from what I remember.
