A quiet corner of MN for serious addicts of Kdrama, or the K-curious. Most of our viewing is drawn from Netflix and Viki, with a sprinkling of AmazonPrime, AppleTV and Disney+. There are also platforms streaming content illegally if you go looking. We don’t promote them as they are peppered with pop-ups of “Olga” and friends offering a good time, but we can point you in the right direction. We also dip into Japanese, Taiwanese & Chinese drama as & when.

Shows marked with a star are more uniformly loved or admired. In categorising series, its important to note most Korean dramas have multiple strands - e.g. supernatural, romance and a thriller; crime series with fantasy elements. Genre-busting mash-ups are normal. Series that are tagged as dark may also have moments of comedy or the absurd, likewise fluff can have heavier moments. Writer/actor Simon Pegg referred to it fondly as “tonal chaos” - it’s part of kdrama’s charm. We are generally fans of all things Korean, so equally happy to talk about Korean cookery, language, film and music when the mood takes us. A few of us are learning Korean, Japanese and/or Mandarin (some more diligently than others admittedly), so we swap tips and links to language resources. Basically, anything topical goes.

Anyone seen Plus or Minus Taiwan drama (Bl) on Viki?

Eve, is certainly getting more intense and still capturing my interest. There are so many possible story arcs that I don't know if this will just be a SK trope fest, but I feel she is heading for a fall, way before ep13! She's certainly hell bent on revenge, provocative and quite the temptress in more than the usual sense. And oh boy, is Seo Yea-Ji skeletal!
Why Her? and Doctor Lawyer are also coming along nicely, but Insider needs to get its plot moving.
Almost finished listening to Kim JIYoung and it's almost revelationary to hear what could be the thoughts behind the inscrutable visage of an ordinary SK female.

Yumis Cells 2 and Old Fashion Cupcake both filling my fluff bucket. Although not much of either yet to keep one going.

My kdrama viewing has been hopeless this week. Too much real life at the mo, but I am reading along & planning to get back on the horse this weekend.

I'm enjoying pizza, soju and beer and Woori the Virgin tonight. I have a rare night in by myself and I'm making the most of it.

안녕 chingus! I've finished Dali and the Cocky Prince and Sh**ting Stars recently, and while I enjoyed both Dali definitely wins. The whole saviour doing charity thing in Africa kind of soured SS for me I'm afraid, although I enjoyed everything else about it. Especially lawyer Do who i thought was sexy as hell. Dali was an absolute joy and I just loved it so much. Now I'm finishing the uncanny counter (1 ep left which I've been putting off as I think it might he sad) and then back to love ft marriage and divorce. I only seem to be able to have 2 on the go at once.

Oh, I watched a couple of episodes of the J drama sweat and soap...cor that is some proper madness, like next level bonkersness.

I’m being forced to watch the new season of Umbrella Academy with DS1 and DH. It’s actually half decent. Loved the Footloose segue before the opening credits in S1. Both are them out all day tomorrow. If I can commandeer the TV before DS2 gets out of bed (good odds) I’ll have a catch up day. 😆

Both we and the abs were delightful obviously. The rest of the dance was very much Art - liked it but didn't necessarily understand it. Because it was Art. Like all Korean culture it had some very beautiful and striking bits and some totally baffling we're lost bits.
