For a lover of gentle/funny/ good murder mysteries like Murdoch Mysteries, Hudson & Rex, Miss Fisher.... what else do you recommend?

Just that really - anything interesting with good acting that is solvable but not too easy.
Love Miss Marple too... less keen on Shakespeare and Hathaway...
Huge thanks ... running out of options and I'm sure you all know some great ones!

Father brown is quite gentle (as much as murder can be I suppose!)
DuckQuacksFrogRibbits · 12/05/2022 21:28
Hetty Wainthrop? From early 2000s but I bet you can stream it somewhere.
Whatsnewpussyhat · 12/05/2022 21:29
Death in paradise is the best.
Fernsinthegarden · 12/05/2022 21:30
I loved Agatha Raisin!

Piorot or midsomer murders
mogtheexcellent · 12/05/2022 21:38
New tricks, mallorca files. Im working my way through poirot and father brown on britbox atm.
Miss Fisher is utterly fabulous. There is another 1920s one with diana rigg. Mrs bradley mysteries - Only 3 episodes though.

Sister Boniface Mysteries. Father Brown appeared in a cameo role in it recently.

The Mentalist
Monk
PowerfulWombSpaceRespector · 13/05/2022 09:29
Vera
Grantchester is basically Father Brown but with sex.
Bletchley circle
Wallander
RampantIvy · 13/05/2022 11:08
I wouldn't class Vera and Wallander as gentle or in the same genre as Father Brown and Shakespeare and Hathaway.
hippolyta · 14/05/2022 19:39
If you like Miss Fisher have you seen Frankie Drake? Same era but Toronto.
Father Brown is the best of them all.
The Coroner (UK one)
Mallorca Files
MouseTheDog · 14/05/2022 19:43
Murder in Provence if you have BritBox.
2bazookas · 14/05/2022 19:47
ZEN. Tragically there are only three (long) episodes. Sheer heaven for story, humour, wit, the fab settings in Venice and Italy and, er, lusting for Rufus Sewell

Annika on Alibi
english DI living on loch lomond ( glasgow) solving boat related crimes. Living with her DD and has an unaged and gorgeous paul mcgann in it.
light hearted and quirky ( she talks to the camera , may take an episode to get into )

Wow - this list just gets better and better ... Thank you!
Loving Mrs Bradley and looking forward to trying others very soon!
Building a list for me to come back to, time and again... especially when life is a little bleak, it is Hugely uplifting to have a fun murder on tap!!
midsomermurderess · 15/05/2022 19:09
Sandhamn Murders, Swedish series on Prime. Not exactly gentle but not overly grisly. The setting is so beautiful and there is an ongoing will they, won’t they dimension.
TheMarzipanDildo · 16/05/2022 19:59
Poirot of course!
I love Morse/Endeavour/Lewis but they are less gentle. Nice Oxford scenery though.

The Brokenwood Mysteries look good, New Zealand series which looks a bit similar to Midsummer Murders. I haven't watched it yet but they are next on my list, they are on UKTV Drama
RampantIvy · 16/05/2022 22:23
We watch The Brokenwood Mysteries and love them.
