Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

My husband worked away a lot when my kids were small. It was horrible and seeing the distance with Toby is bringing it all back! Thankfully he is home now (but we have a lower income!)

@Aboutcoffee

Kevin has a wedding ring on in one of the flash forwards.

Forgot about Zoe. Yes could be , I was thinking Sophie unless they introduce someone new.

I think tonight he showed his love for Maddison. His conversation with her new bf was telling. 🤞
neveradullmoment99 · 03/02/2022 21:08

I think tonight, when he said about getting her something at the shops even although she says no, made him realise he loves her. I want them back togetherGrin

It was a fantastic episode tonight. I loved every minute of it.

Just been watching this after a hiatus so have binged the end of S5 and S6.

The theory that Rebecca is in charge when Baby Jack is injured would be so tragic.

I liked the Jack episode, mainly because I love Milo. Agree there were things that didn't quite ring true though. Maybe it's more common in the US to barely see your parents because of the sheer distance? I always wondered with things like Sex and the City as none of them seemed to have anything to do with their parents iirc? Even in Friends etc they didn't always see family for all of the big holidays. I could be reading too much into it however!

"The theory that Rebecca is in charge when Baby Jack is injured would be so tragic."

Totally agree. Don't want it to be the case and think it's a left field theory but just thought with Kate saying her and Toby had agreed it together and then obviously feeling guilty about it maybe she might feel desperate and guilty and relent. Hope it's wrong.

Maybe its why Kate isn't at the cabin in the future. Let's hope not.

Was anyone else.wondering what Deja and Malik will do for money in Boston?? How much can a 17 earn Grin

MaddieElla · 04/02/2022 19:30

Praise the Lord, I actually enjoyed Randall this episode. He got a bit of funny back.

Libertynan · 05/02/2022 10:06

I don't see why Kate had to tell Rebecca that they didn't want her to care for the babies any longer. She could have just worked out a way not to have to leave her alone.

Rebecca's feelings were bound to be hurt - no matter how it was phrased.

Pl242 · 05/02/2022 10:34

I like the theory about Rebecca being to blame for young Jack’s accident (I mean I don’t like it in the sense that it sounds awful, but like it in that it could make sense).

On that episode the other week with future Jack, could we hear Rebecca’s voice when he was remembering it?

If that theory is correct, it makes sense of Toby’s hesitation to come to see dying Rebecca in the future scenes, when Randall calls him. I always thought it was hesitation re situation between him and Kate. But could also be hesitation from him re his relationship with Rebecca if something like thus happened which was a direct thing between the two of them.

I still want more of Miguel! Want to know why he retreated from their lives after being there after Jack’s death, how he and Rebecca got together and got married (and reaction of big three) and what happens to him in future. Ie why he’s not at Rebecca’s death bed.

Aboutcoffee · 05/02/2022 11:04

* I don't see why Kate had to tell Rebecca that they didn't want her to care for the babies any longer. She could have just worked out a way not to have to leave her alone.

I thought that too. In fact having been in a similar situation with an elderly parent I would never have said that, I just made sure they felt included but also kept an eye.

What Kate did in the afternoon bringing Rebecca to the music lesson was the perfect solution.

ADisgruntledPelican · 05/02/2022 11:10

Rebecca does offer to watch the DC a lot. Maybe they thought it was easier to tell her so she would stop asking.
But if PPs are right about the baby Jack theory then Kate speaking to Rebecca was just to show that Toby and Kate agreed she shouldn't watch the DCs - then if something happens to Jack when Rebecca is watching him, it sows the seeds for conflict between Toby and Kate. I wonder if it's Kate who blames Rebecca and can't forgive her, and Toby who is more understanding Hmm I'm becoming invested in this theory now Grin

MadisonAvenue · 05/02/2022 11:41

Maybe its why Kate isn't at the cabin in the future.

I wondered if that’s the reason too.

BitcherOfBlakiven · 05/02/2022 11:45

Malik is being awful - he’s living the dream at Harvard but wants Deja to leave high school, do a GED - which from what I understand isn’t the same as graduating properly - thus denying her the opportunity he currently has. Twat.

Well, she becomes a doctor in the future. She is also pregnant in the future.bis it with him though?

Me too. Absolutely definitely.
BitcherOfBlakiven · 05/02/2022 19:42

@neveradullmoment99 yes but I doubt that happens if she leaves home aged 17bHmm

XelaM · 06/02/2022 05:02

Really really really hoping Kevin ends up with Sophie! So glad it's not Cassidy, as they don't fit together at all.

XelaM · 06/02/2022 05:03

Deja and Malik are sooo annoying!!! Please TIU writers - don't inflict them on us any longer!! 🤪

Juniper68 · 06/02/2022 12:48

Malik looks 11. It's so wrong.

Hellosunshiner · 06/02/2022 14:57

Good theory, maybe it is to do with Rebecca.

That would give reason for Toby to check out of the relationship with Kate altogether. It feels like he's already pulling back and not just because of his job. If anyone was to leave, it would be Toby leaving Kate rather than the other way around. On the other hand, although Kate is sometimes fragile she has got strength too so maybe she'd call it a day first.

But, I still feel it's more likely to be Toby's fault (the accident), on balance. Maybe Toby has insisted he does a BBQ and they invite Rebecca, Kate gets called away to work and Toby insists he can handle the kids, the BBQ and keep an eye on Rebecca, but doesn't. So Rebecca is part of the accident but ultimately it's Toby's fault.

On the flashforwards to Rebecca in the new cabin, we see Toby arriving - but not Kate or their kids. Perhaps they are also on their way, together.

Hellosunshiner · 06/02/2022 15:00

Also, I don't think Kevin really loves Madison still, not to marry. I think he was figuratively handing over the reins to Elijah whereas up til now he has been a bit annoyed at Elijah taking over his previous life, but Cassidy pointing out he is a big handsome wrecking ball including with Madison and her new relationship has made him realise he's being selfish. Not that he loves Madison romantically.

ADisgruntledPelican · 06/02/2022 16:57

Yy I think Kevin was passing the baton on Madison iyswim. The advice wasn't particularly relevant. It was just to show he was acknowledging Elijah's place in Madison's life and by proxy in the twin's lives.

I love Malik and Deja! I completely disagree with their 'drop out of school/graduate early' plan but I like that their storyline explores how even when children are adopted, they're likely to take slightly different paths from their adopted family. And how difficult it is to navigate parenting those differences.

Iwantacatnotcovid · 07/02/2022 14:59

The Deja and Maleek storyline is boring, and their relationship adds little to the overall plot. The writers could have done something interesting with Deja as an adopted child. I mean, it's unrealistic how settled she is with Randall and Beth. She never mentions her real mum either, which is ridiculous really.

I hope that we see a lot more of the future over the next few episodes.

By the way, I think after the next episode, there's a break (according to the show's Reddit sub).
