Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

There was definitely something that made them think he was dead. A letter or something?

Motherdare · 30/01/2022 22:29

It undermines the theme of family relationships recreating patterns

I’m not sure. Aren’t Jack and Rebecca all about breaking the patterns of their own families and creating a better one for their own children? The triplets are, of course, unhealthily obsessed with recreating their own childhoods.

Re Nicky, I thought it was odd that Jack rang his father (whom he was NC with) but didn’t contact Nicky to tell him their mother was dead.

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/01/2022 22:49

Tbh a boring episode

All in the past

Why didn’t jack rem tomato soup and hotdogs

They said he hadn’t visited for 13yrs / or did I imagine that

Big 3 were 6 so why didn’t he visit before they were born

Mum said on phone she was helping in debby flower shop but jack didn’t seem to know about it

Why didn’t she tell jack about her bf and cat

And seems saint jack didn’t make room for a 5min weekly phone call

What she did jack find out Nicky wasn’t dead and a
Drunk

Pointless episode that did nothing to further the plot.

I remember reading a few years ago (maybe around seasons 3 and 4) that the writers had a plan for the final two seasons that they would stop all the stories about the Jack + Rebecca past and most of the present-day story would actually be the flashforwards - i.e. the "present day" would be the building of the Big 3 house, Kevin's kids growing up etc (the flashforwards at the moment) and what we're seeing as present day now (Deja and Malik, Rebecca and Miguel etc) would become the flashbacks.

That makes much more sense and would have been much better TV than the constant episodes set in the past that we've all seen enough of now.

Motherdare · 31/01/2022 10:41

I guess if they stop the flashbacks, there’s nothing for Milo to do and it’s essentially writing him out of it. We still have 14 episodes though, there’s plenty of time to unravel it all. I just need them to stop the Deja Malik stuff, it’s practically unwatchable for me. I can’t imagine the This Is Us target audience gives a toss about a couple of teenagers in love. (Plus the boy is really unattractive and looks about 12!!)

Blondeshavemorefun · 31/01/2022 13:14

A flashback is fine. Just not whole episode

I've just watched all the seasons because I've been stuck at home ill so it's quite fresh in my memory Grin Jack told Rebecca and the DCs that his brother was dead. But he knew Nicky was alive. Nicky kept sending him postcards until Jack turned up at the caravan. He told Nicky about Rebecca and the DCs. Nicky tried to explain what had happened in Vietnam but Jack wouldn't listen. iirc there wasn't anything about Nicky or the army pretending to the parents that Nicky was dead.

There are 14 eps left?? Brilliant!! DP and I thought that there were 3 remaining.
BaconAndAvocado · 01/02/2022 12:15

I'm also shocked and delighted that there are 14 more episodes 😳

Motherdare · 01/02/2022 12:20

Yes, 18 episodes this season!! 🙌🏽

ADisgruntledPelican · 01/02/2022 13:48

I hope they do what a PP said they had planned and focus on flash forwards.
I love Milo and Jack but surely he should have a part in The Marvellous Mrs Maisel by now anyway 😉 🤞

MinglingFlamingo · 01/02/2022 23:50

This will leave us with precise 53 minutes of running time to cover new jack, Hayley, Kevin’s twins, deja’s pregnancy, tess and the other forgotten daughter, Kate’s new bloke and Nicky/edie…..

All of this and they need to tie up any loose ends concerning the lake house in New Orleans. Do they keep it as a holiday home, sell it or do Beth & Randell move there???

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 02/02/2022 13:25

Latest episode was much better, great to see Cassidy again and Nicky with his girlfriend!

Housewife2010 · 02/02/2022 23:27

After tomorrow's episode, there's a break until the 24th for the next one.

Netaporter · 03/02/2022 10:51

I loved the latest episode. Plenty of gratuitous Kevin 😉 Lots of character content. Still can’t see how Kate and Toby end up in a place where they divorce?

ChildHeadache · 03/02/2022 12:29

Probably first episode in ages I didn't cry in!!! But really enjoyed it and filling in the story.

Kevin you say?! Ooh.

Kate and Toby's demise is linked to the BBQ and young Jack's scar so obvs Toby or Kate (probably Toby) does something so stupid and thoughtless to cause Jack's accident with the BBQ that Kate can't forgive him. It won't be just an ordinary accident, it'll be because he was texting or phoning a suspicious female co-worker or something when he was meant to be supervising.

Hellosunshiner · 03/02/2022 13:46

Should say I haven't watched the new episode yet but More Kevin is always good Smile Saving it for later.

Aboutcoffee · 03/02/2022 14:08

Good episode.

I like Cassidy but I guess we know now who Kevin will marry??

Apart from the Deja and Malik business.

Hellosunshiner · 03/02/2022 16:38

Watched it now. It was a good episode. Still not many reveals but it was interesting.

I don't know that Kevin will marry anyone, though? At the end of the last season the twist was that it then showed him getting ready for Kate's wedding to the teacher, instead of his own wedding to Madison (or anyone?) I still think Zoe will reappear. I am sure I remember her making a quick appearance on screen near the end of the last season. I don't think he'd marry Cassidy, I don't think he loves her more than he is good friends with her, but I do think he loved Zoe and it was quite a healthy relationship apart from the children issue. But now he's had kids (with Madison) perhaps that has removed that pressure from a relationship with Zoe.

Aboutcoffee · 03/02/2022 17:18

Kevin has a wedding ring on in one of the flash forwards.

Forgot about Zoe. Yes could be , I was thinking Sophie unless they introduce someone new.

Hellosunshiner · 03/02/2022 17:40

Ooh good spot! I didn't see the wedding ring.

So he does get married in the end! I mean Sophie is the original love of his life, but they've been round and round and it still didn't work out. Zoe was the modern day love of his life. It could be either! or someone new of course, but knowing TIU it will be somebody we already know.

ADisgruntledPelican · 03/02/2022 18:02

I hope the baby Jack/BBQ story isn't that Toby was careless tbh. It would be a bit cliched. Maybe Kate isn't paying attention because she's on a call to the music teacher Hmm

My bet would be that Kevin ends up with Sophie - if it's someone we've already met. I know Zoe popped back up last season but it would be quite a turnaround for her to become step-mum to twins when she was adamant she didn't want DCs. There's not much chemistry between him and Cassidy so although I love the actress, I feel they'd have a lot of work to do to make that seem like a viable relationship.

ADisgruntledPelican · 03/02/2022 18:03

my Hmm face was because I love Toby and Kate as a couple and I'm grumpy that they're splitting them up Grin

idiotfacelicker · 03/02/2022 20:23

Having just watched the Ep I'm worried in case Kate relents and lets her Mom watch Jack (against Toby's wishes) and that's how the accident happens and it's Toby that can't forgive Kate..
