Does anyone else watch this show?

I love it, but nobody seems to know about it! Sad

OP posts:

I’d quite like it if they skipped all the old Jack and Rebecca story lines this season, and just skipped forward to the future instead. We have had hours of Jack and Rebecca already - i want to see new jack and his sister whatshername and the fancy log cabin replacement, etc

unhappy46 · 24/01/2022 21:11

Oh yes @PerditaNitt I agree! Unless they're going to out loads of grown up jack into this series I think it's a shame it's ending really as they could definitely have done more with the future.

Is it on tonight? I always forget to look on Prime for stuff so end up catching up on loads of shows all at once

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2022 17:03

Tomorow. Arrives usually early am on my prime

MinglingFlamingo · 26/01/2022 19:36

I've finally caught up

How old was Deja when she came to live with Randall & Beth. They make her sound like she was about 8.

Wonder if we will see the fall out/ immediate aftermath of the Kevin & Madison wedding

That British chap is warming on me. Don't remember him cracking any jokes last year.

Feel like Covid has totally disappeared from the Pearson world. Last year every scene was wearing masks and folllowing covid protocol to the letter. Doesn't seem to be the cases this season

Estara · 26/01/2022 19:57

Yes, when is Kevin going to build the snazzy cabin!

No, tomorrow - every Thursday
Thunderpunt · 26/01/2022 23:39

@Blondeshavemorefun

I assume jack walks into the smoker and burns self - scar on head

Tho why would they keep it for years to give to jack

Did we ever meet other jacks parents. The mum who died

Have mind block

Was good to see how the 4 dads cope with life and looking after babies toddlers 6yrs and teenagers

Kevin was naughty to slip away

Saying that the movie sounded crap and not for kids

Ahh Blondes, that film was An American Tale... mid 80s animated film about a family of Mice (Mr Mouskivitz?) emigrating from Russia to USA... it was a really sweet kids film with that song Somewhere Out There. I think we rented it several times from Blockbuster ConfusedGrin
Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2022 08:08

Was it @Thunderpunt 😂

Little mice

Deja was 12. I've been rewatching from the beginning and she has just arrived in season 2.
MillicentSpinning · 27/01/2022 09:42

I think they included Covid because the BLM was such a big part of 2020 at the same time. And they were weaving that into the story. More so than Covid.

I have just bawled my way through S5 E4. Wow.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2022 09:51

I think it was good they included covid

Unlike east Enders who had people flying on holiday and cake makers and hospital visitors etc

All things that wouldn’t happen

Have downloaded e4 to watch tonight

I don't think I wrote this very clearly. I think their season 5 included Covid storylines because BLM was so of that time that they couldn't do one without the other.

Usually the present day storylines are quite timeless and free of current affairs.

idiotfacelicker · 27/01/2022 13:46

Has anyone watched it yet? I got about a quarter through but might not bother to continue to the end. Can anyone confirm whether the whole episode is that same story?

Don't think I can be arsed if it is unless someone whose watched it tells me there is some
Amazing moment in it that I simply can't miss...

Aboutcoffee · 27/01/2022 15:17

@idiotfacelicker

I was the same, bit bored and stopped after 20 minutes cos it was obvious entire episode was going to be about Jack and I've kind of had enough of him.

But I just read the vulture review and might go back to it later.

Hellosunshiner · 27/01/2022 15:46

It was OK, but all about Jack and his mum. It was touching in places but that was it really. Not the best episode, not the worst.

I thought the scripting for Jack wasn't quite up to its usual standard. It didn't ring quite true for his character and it didn't squeeze all the feels out of me that past seasons and episodes have. He was quite standoffish/one word answers at times, which the ordinary person might well have been given the awkward situation... but as we all know, Jack is no ordinary person Smile and usually he would definitely be wordsmithing, empathising and emoting his way through it like the pro we know he is at that sort of thing.

Hellosunshiner · 27/01/2022 15:48

(Should add, by the end of the episode he comes good, but it more the start where he was finding his bearings that I was urging Jack to be more Jack!)

Netaporter · 27/01/2022 16:03

Yes it wasn’t as good as previous eps and focussed solely on Jack. No Kevin this week 😢 it stresses me out when they waste one of the final precious eps on a bit of the story we don’t need to know. Jack’s dead ffs. That said, I had a good cry as some of the words about creating a great home for your children after having a shitty childhood experience yourself rang true.

Aboutcoffee · 27/01/2022 16:54

I have to watch the rest of the episode but I kind of thought so much for saint Jack... 13 years and he couldn't drive to the next state?

Hellosunshiner · 27/01/2022 17:26

About I thought the same too. 4 hours drive, probably only 275-ish miles? it's not exactly a 2 day road trip. Going to visit her would have prevented his mother from feeling so anxious that she would bump into his dad too, like she did when she came to stay with Jack's family.

I suppose we could think that Jack's own relationship was damaged with his mother, even though he loved her. Plus he was busy building his dream family life.

Hellosunshiner · 27/01/2022 17:29

Netaporter Flowers I know what you mean re the bit about creating a great home for your children too, that rang true for me.

Netaporter · 27/01/2022 17:51

@Hellosunshiner Flowers for you also if you were in the same boat. I think I use TIU as therapy for repressed feelings every week. I find it cathartic to have a good cry.

WellTidy · 27/01/2022 18:29

My parents live 5+ hours drive away from me. I cannot imagine a world in which my mum would accept us never visiting!

diddl · 27/01/2022 19:54

Apart from Nicky meeting Edie I don't think that it's been interesting at all so far!

neveradullmoment99 · 27/01/2022 19:55

It was touching and I loved the bit in the church when his family appeared. It was quite emotional but I agree. Why waste an episode on this when Jack is dead and even Rebecca wasn't that involved in the story line.
