Am I the only one who thinks that Henry Cavill is the most perfect example of a perfect man alive today?!🥰🥰😋😋🤣🤣

Well I haven't read the book series, but I am both a fantasy fan AND a fantasy writer. I game, but only lego games.

Unclear as to whether I'm allowed to watch it or not, but fortunately I already did (purely because of the meme identifying Geralt as the lovechild of Aragorn and Legolas).

For the record, if I'm ever published and it's made into a TV series, I have Henry Cavill in my fantasy cast to play a complete bastard.

Never heard of this programme until yesterday when I went into town and there was a GIANT scorpion looking thing in a massive 20ft snow globe - there were people stood around it wearing Netflix jackets! All dd and I could say was “well that’s not very festive!” Grin
I think they’ve filmed on location around here, there’s lots of things recorded nearby.
Anyway, as you were, no idea what it is and based on the sculpture it sounds like the kind of things that would give me nightmares Grin

Shock Genius! Grin. Although I think there must be some Uruk Hai or something in the mix too - Geralt is about the size of Aragorn and Legolas combined!

It seems the range of his acting is the low grunt

That's Geralt, not Cavill, rather it's Cavill totally nailing the essence of what the Geralt character is supposed to be.

He's somewhat more loquacious in the second season, but that reflects the fact that in the first he's not supposed to be much of a thinker or a talker. He's given much more to ponder as both seasons progress, his dialogue becomes less phlegmatic and more contemplative as a result, and you really see the depth of his character grow through his more verbose expression.

The character occasionally pokes fun at himself because he realises he's become somewhat more chatty than people are used to and they begin to remark upon it. There's a huge degree of subtlety to Geralt's expression and it's often as much what he doesn't say, the silence, or just the look on his face that tells a whole story.

This.

Also that grunt is sexy as hell.

Felt bereft when I'd finished this season, loved it. Starting again to see if I missed anything.

I’m rewatching S1 and it plays very differently with S2 in my head!
WhoWants2Know · 23/12/2021 23:27

I just finished series 2. I think I'm going to have to read the books because wtf was that last scene?

I’ve just started reading them, but in chronological order and not order of publication. Got them from iBooks.

The end credit scene is a promo for the new show which is set after the Conjugation (if that’s what you mean?) or Ciris Dad?

WhoWants2Know · 24/12/2021 18:27

I meant Ciri's dad. Did not see that coming at all

thecatsthecats · 28/12/2021 13:01

Without sounding like too much of a fan girl, I think Cavill is actually a pretty subtle actor. Witchers are thought to be emotionless because it's convenient for people to think that, but apart from a couple of glitches, I think there's quite a lot of subtle, clear but tramped down emotion in Geralt.

Mind you, I thought the same with his performance in the Tudors. Whilst Jonathan Rhys Meyers was doing that ridiculous old man voice for old Henry VIII, Cavill was pulling off this mellowed older man vibe effortlessly whilst in his twenties - someone loyal to his old friend, but hating who he'd become.

Underrated IMO, by those who prefer gurny actors.

HermioneWeasley · 03/01/2022 20:46

I didn’t enjoy season 2 as much. I liked the feel of season 1 - it was episodic stories, leading up to the fulfilment of the “destiny” but that wasn’t the whole thing. Series 2 was all about Ciri, who just isn’t that interesting as a character or compelling as an actress, and Yenn without her magic which is the worst version of Yenn.

blahblahx · 03/01/2022 20:47

My favourite part of The Witcher is when he says "hmm"

KittyWithStripes · 01/02/2022 21:34

Just rewatched Season 2 and I’ve realised what annoyed me so much about it, considering I loved Season 1.

It’s that S2 Geralt does not get his kit off, or shag anyone at all. Not even a bath scene with Jaskier.

What the actual fuck Angry

Campervan69 · 01/02/2022 22:01

Agreed. He still smouldered throughout however. I could have done without Jaskier getting his kit off in the stream as well tbh.

blobby10 · 02/02/2022 11:04

I've just taken delivery of the books! Can anyone recommend the best order to read them? I've seen series 1 and about half way through series 2 - Ciri has just done the witcher training machine egged on by Geralt's 'brothers.' Is it better to finish watching series 2 before starting the books?

Why did Yennifer free him not decapitate him?
