I am fussy and hard to please I know.

I really struggle to find a new watch after a binge and mostly end up watching the same shows repeatedly

My favourites are:

Bones
White collar
Death in paradise
Scorpion
Charmed (original series)
Quantum leap
Suits
The good wife/good fight
Gilmore girls (have already started Mrs maisel but it doesn't quite hit the spot)
House
Ncis
Lucifer

Currently very much enjoying Prodigal Son but only 2 seasons (desperately hoping someone else takes it on) and I'm halfway through the 2nd already

Perhaps more accurate to say I like clever, witty characters?

Couldn't get into mad men

It seems an elusive wish really.

Any recommendations? The algorithms seem to work against me too

Don't think it would be classed as light.. but I like quite a few things on your list and loved 'YOU' on Netflix, there's 2 series to binge.

NeverTalkToStrangers · 29/08/2021 21:15

Ghosts
Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Angel (channel 4 with ads or Disney + without)
Great British Bake Off or GB Sewing Bee
Taskmaster
StarStruck (Rose Matafeo romantic sitcom)
Crazy Ex GirlFriend (excellent but sometimes a bit emotionally challenging)
McDonald & Dodds (lightweight detective series set in Bath)

friends from college
Bonus family (Swedish family drama)

Both on Netflix

You like the same sort of stuff as me! Try NCIS Los Angeles. First series isn’t that great but two onwards are great!

ClosDesMouches · 31/08/2021 09:56

Another shout for Designated Survivor. Netflix.
The two adults in our house have very differing taste in tv programmes but we both loved it.

The Kominsky Method on Netflix. Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin. Utterly hilarious, witty and beautifully done. Best thing all year.

Catastrophe Motherland

Just as a heads up After Life is absolutely brilliant but it is not light! It can be quite triggering (loss / grief) and heartbreaking.

It's a fantastic piece of drama though and does have comedy in it, but just thought I'd give a heads up!

PlanDeRaccordement · 02/09/2021 17:54

On Apple there is Ted Lasso. It is about an American Football coach being hired to coach A Premier Football team in London despite knowing nothing about football (it’s called soccer in the US, American Football is an entirely different game). Anyway have been watching it and it is very funny and lighthearted.

Pucarbuile · 02/09/2021 18:20

Ted Lasso is fantastic. It's so kind hearted and uncynical.

squashyhat · 02/09/2021 18:44

Not RTFT so it may have been mentioned but Rake on Netflix is good fun. Aussie comedy/drama about a hapless barrister. Some genuinely hilarious moments plus lots of WTF????

LanisHouseLot · 02/09/2021 18:51

Medium

midsomermurderess · 02/09/2021 18:57

Back to Life. It's on iPlayer, but only 2 short series.

People Just Do Nothing on Netflix
I saw the film version at the cinema this morning. It was enjoyable.

CaptainHammer · 02/09/2021 22:21

The Detectorists
As you like Castle try The Rookie also with Nathan Fillion

ineedanewbum · 03/09/2021 03:19

Working Mom's on Netflix.
The marvelous Mrs Maisel on Amazon.
If you like touched by and angle maybe Chesapeake Shores, When Calls the Heart, Anne with an E (all on netflix) would be up your alley.

DevilFinger · 03/09/2021 03:50

I'd second the Rookie, easy to watch
