@whatsnewpussyhat

True!!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 06/05/2021 22:53

I worked with a vair' posh chap who inherited a wardrobe of suits from his uncle (God alone knows what his uncle did - there seemed to be about 50 of them and they were all various 'bookie's checks"). He was a right tight bastard - not from choice, he owed money right, left and centre - but even he had them altered to fit.

iklboo · 06/05/2021 23:34

Maybe he thinks it would take something of who he inherited from away? Like Trigger's broom but with suits

SoupDragon · 07/05/2021 08:59

Maybe he likes how they look

NutellaEllaElla · 07/05/2021 09:15

Considering that tailoring is pretty exacting about what constitutes good fit, i find it strange idea that he might like them to be so obviously poor.

SoupDragon · 07/05/2021 09:36

For those reasons, I find it even stranger that people think it's not a deliberate choice.

LadyEloise · 07/05/2021 09:57

I'm calling Raph to win.
Serena is usually very good too.

Anyone else think the standard isn't as good this year ?

When I saw Esme's necklace I thought she's doing a Prue Leith with her statement necklace.
I don't like the necklace but I like the idea behind it. Smile

SoupDragon · 07/05/2021 10:02

The favourite often seems to throw it away in the final though.

I'm not sure if the standard is lower - I think we comment on this every year 😂 I do think it's lower than the first few years but the subsequent ones have been a fairly consistent level on my memory. There do seem to be a lot of unfinished garments this time (but I have a niggling feeling this was true last year too).

Roussette · 07/05/2021 10:46

I think Raph is head and shoulders above them all BUT that doesn't mean he'll win because sometimes that can count against you as it's an entertainment programme!

Clare was a consistently good sewer who got on with things quietly and she won. She didn't use it as a stepping stone to greater things or Instagram popularity either, just put the trophy on her shelf and got on with real life.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 07/05/2021 11:30

I loved Claire, Captain. And her lovely mum!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 07/05/2021 11:31

I liked Cathryn, so I'm a bit sad she's gone.

I wasn't keen on the Frida Kahlo challenge to be honest. I thought it was a bit... nebulous and concept waffle-y. I did like the History Bit about her, but I think I prefer it when they're told to make a man's winter coat, or a cocktail dress with a boned bodice or something.

And, surely when they all make completely different garments it's much harder to compare them? (I had a flashback to the Strictly threads and discussing them all doing different dances then!)

Maireas · 07/05/2021 11:37

I loved Claire, and of course she's been doing amazing work this last year as a lung specialist. I liked her personal style and the fact she rides a bike to work without wearing lycra!

Yep to all of this.

And this - she's just a really down-to-earth no-fuss lass.

I'd be prepared to make her an Honorary Northerner.

(No higher accolade in my book Grin)

Maireas · 07/05/2021 12:02

She's welcome up here any time, Schaden!

Mydogisagentleman · 08/05/2021 12:14

Late as usual.
The correct person went, although I think Damian will be next.
I adored Faries dress but still think it will be serena or Raef who wins

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 09/05/2021 09:49

Not the latest @Mydogisagentleman!!

I've only just caught up. I really liked Catherine- sorry she's gone. Her dress whilst not great was better that the standard yuck Damien created

(Do you think he's got his girlfriend locked in the attic and she thinks what he's making is still bang on trend (rather than the worse of the 80s))

I loved Ralph's outfit but think Farie's was bang on the money of the brief.

Wolfcub · 12/05/2021 20:52

Evening all

Roussette · 12/05/2021 20:54

Ready for it!
