Ted has been the police so long that they won't necessarily have his DNA on file from him joining. He was arrested and interviewed last series so his DNA may be on the nominal database from then.

Phew, caught up!

One thing that struck me as odd - Ryan telling Jo that Lakewell had died... obviously this was to hammer home the "being a rat" thing but do we know that Jo has any connection whatsoever with Lakewell?!

Has there actually been any suggestion Jo knows him / of him, or even that he's a person of interest in their investigation of Gail Vella? (Especially given it seems to be AC12 who is linking together possible motives etc... not MIT).

I can't imagine AC12 send out round robin department emails with their "good news stories"! (Although being public sector myself it's wouldn't surprise me... )

It is odd when you think about it. Why would a random prisoner being murdered by the OCG upset her so much or appear so unexpected (when OCG members get killed very often), unless she knew someone in there close to her (or maybe she thought it was Buckells). It sort of implies that she might know Lakewell closely.

Just re watched s6, ep 1 - 4.

Just throwing my two pennies worth in. I'm thinking the 'nominal' that they have just discovered that Jo is related to is Lee Banks. I'm not even quite sure why I think that .

Maybe it's just because he has re-surfaced in the last episode. And we never did find out what Ted said to him when he visited him in prison. Or did I miss that bit?

I think Sunday's episode will see a dramatic exit for one of our super power trio. Who will you put your money on? I think it'll be Steve because he's got a damaged back & isn't as fit as he was.

As in real life there is only me database I'd say that was a big fat 'no'

It's possible that entries are differently tagged within it (so that you can keep separate eg coppers and forensic experts from crime scene samples). Or in this case, searching for both bent copper and/or other criminal so searching entire database.

But NDNAD was established in the 1990s and has been the only one since.

Steve mentioned cross referencing new additions by an entire search, saying it wasn't done when Jo began in 1999. Which to me suggests it could be done now, so when someone new is added they'll be a check for existing matches across the whole database

I have wracked my brains and checked the cast list of all previous series and just can't get past the few obvious possibilities. We know it's a male because Steve said 'he'. We know it's not a copper too. I was convinced she is Carly Kirk's birth mother but it can't be as the relative is male.

The only people I can think of are Tommy Hunter, someone on Danny Waldron's list, Lakewell or Nick Huntley.

If it's a copper, I think Osbourne, Dryden or Hilton.
I think it's too obvious to be Tommy.

I'm guessing Jo would have known about lakewell, she's likely to have come across him as a brief at some point in her career then surely a bent lawyer being locked up would be big news in the station?

I also refuse to believe the DNA match is a copper, they wouldn't have made a big thing about it being a nominal plus they'd have to have been on that list before 1999

Ted wouldn’t know the kid from the armed robbery so that should be ruled out.

Nick Huntley wouldn’t mean anything as he wasn’t dodgy.

Lakewell would be odd as I think Chloe would have reacted differently when taking it to Steve

The only one of these I can see getting that reaction from Ted is Terry Boyle. It’s also the only one I can see making sense with the blackmail plot. But in other ways it makes no sense.

One of the theories that came up on Shrine of Duty was Danny Waldron as the match.

Not sure how that would pan out, but I like the idea. I’m fascinated by Danny, and it’s a shame he didn’t get more screen time. Plus it would circle back to ‘the list’ (though I can’t recall if Jimmy Lakewell was previously alluded to have much of a connection to ‘the list’ - I guess it’s possible he’d been retained by one or more of the listees so might have kill-worthy knowledge in that respect)
