In readiness when thread 3 fills up as we do chat!

OP posts:

Bother. I fell asleep about 9.45 and missed the end. Sorry peeps!

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 25/03/2021 23:46

Cooked lamb? On masterchef? Surely not.

Love Miss Grace.

Don’t love JT’s attempts at rocking the look of the mid 90s other JT.

Not in sync.

Afishcalledwonderful · 26/03/2021 00:22

Damn. Missed it. Three hour call with sister, a bottle of wine down and now listening to Jo Le Taxi. Hope there was no undercooked pork!

ScienceSensibility · 26/03/2021 02:51

I thought Marc was delightful and very witty. Think he might end up in the Final with Alexina and floppy haired guy from the first week. That’s if they get the pairings right for the one to ones!

Glad Jo went. Her dish was hardly ‘street food’ in either concept or execution. Actual fish n chips would have been fine. I’m not a fan of the contestants who try and cram too much into the time available.

I would have put Baz through rather than the poutine lady, is it Jackie?

Another Grace Dent fan here. Her latest book ‘Hungry’ is a great read.

Anne1958 · 26/03/2021 06:40

Does anyone remember when Grace used to be really hard faced and unsmiley? And then she suddenly changed

I remember it each time I see her and then It makes me really happy every time to see the lovely person she now is.

HeronLanyon · 26/03/2021 07:11

Thanks all for Grace Dent comments. I think I am stuck in an older dislike of her and haven’t fully realised that I do quite like her now. My previous dislike was very strong. She was so lovely last night to Joe.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 26/03/2021 07:38

I like her. I find her quite funny and think she looks like she’s be a bloody good laugh over a drink.

Me too! And I agree she looks like she'd be really good fun down the pub

She lost her mum recently and wrote about her so sweetly in her guardian column. I’d like to think that she has learned some lessons about being kind from Jay, I know I would be a nicer person if I spent time with him.....
mrswhiplington · 26/03/2021 10:37

I saw Grace in an episode of Celebrity Antiques Road Trip a while ago. She was lovely. Very funny and relaxed. She has definitely changed from how she used to be or maybe the being serious thing was just a front.

Glad Marc and Jacqui went through. Felt sorry for Baz though.

lynsey91 · 26/03/2021 17:56

@EsmaCannonball

Fuck off, Gregg. Pretending you don't get the concept of chips and gravy.
I certainly don't get the concept of chips and gravy. Sounds vile and disgusting.

Can't believe she went through cooking that!

Gravy does not belong on chips but neither does cheese or curry sauce. Just a bit of vinegar for me.

I absolutely detest gravy on anything

Sunbird24 · 26/03/2021 18:09

Ohhh, I went to uni in the NorthWest, love chips & gravy! Has to be good thick gravy though

Anne1958 · 26/03/2021 18:56

I came home from a camping trip recently with a bag of what looked like small creamy coloured blobs of fat. My Canadian friend had put them in my cold box accidentally so I opened them and tried them - they were the curds used in poutine and whilst I’ll give anything a go food wise I wouldn’t eat one again and certainly not with gravy.

I moved to the Midlands a couple of years ago and was horrified to find they think chips and gravy belong together. They seem to have gravy on everything here!
iklboo · 27/03/2021 11:08

Chips & gravy is the best thing in the universe. Not 'vile & disgusting' at all. Mind you, we have proper gravy in northern England. So much substance it'd probably qualify for including on the census. Not that watery crap some folk serve.

GrouchyKiwi · 27/03/2021 12:53

Chips and gravy is basically roast potatoes and gravy.

Anne1958 · 27/03/2021 14:08

I like chips and gravy. In fact I quite often have chips with a roast dinner and liberal helpings of gravy.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 27/03/2021 14:59

No - chips and cheese. Mmmmm with vinegar and ketchup. 😋

lynsey91 · 27/03/2021 17:47

I don't eat that either. Don't have gravy on anything and neither does DH.

I just don't see the point of gravy. I want my food to taste of what it is, not gravy. Also I was food that is meant to be crisp such as chips, roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding etc to stay crisp not go soggy like baby food

iklboo · 27/03/2021 19:12

They don't go remotely like baby food Smile

They don't stay crisp though do they? The amount of gravy I have seen on some plates I am pretty sure it does all end up like baby food. YUK
iklboo · 27/03/2021 20:30

As a veteran aficionado of chips & gravy, I can tell you there is absolutely no resemblance to baby food whatsoever. We shall agree to disagree. Now, pass the salt & vinegar and a barmcake please 😄

PepeSilviaDoesNotExist · 27/03/2021 22:14

@lynsey91 I don’t find that roast potatoes go soggy with gravy, but there is not rule you have to pour lashings of gravy over your roasties. My DP has gravy over his meat and Yorkshire’s but not on his roasts. I find the thought of a dry roast dinner absolute sacrilege.
