Sick to death of husband's viewing choices

Something is seriously wrong with him.
It's always 'How it's Made' or 'How do they do it' or some other manufacturing show (he just clicked his fingers at me to get the remote back) OR car shows. Constantly.

We have 1 TV.

@musicalfrog

I disagree with those saying get another TV or use your laptop. Watching separate things every evening won't exactly strengthen your bond! Why not take turns, your choice one evening, his the next. That way you can both be involved in each other's interests.
Sorry, but I disagree with you. DH has been watching hours of rugby, which I have zero interest in. In fact he is the one who takes himself off upstairs to watch it in a spare bedroom that we have turned into an upstairs sitting room.

However, we do watch a lot of TV together as, apart from sport, we like the same kind of programmes.

makesIlaugh · 27/03/2021 06:40

If we are both sitting down to watch tv it is always something we both want to watch unless one says'I'm not bothered' so DH ends up watching Corrie, I end up watching have I got news for you. Incidentally it is DH that watches 4 in a bed and married at first sight and I watch abandoned engineering and mighty ships Hmm

Anyscrapiron - programme #2 was the Pendle Witch Child documentary streaming on the BBC iplayer.

The documentary about the fall of Berlin wall was on Netflix.

I can't remember where I found the other one about teen killers & actually it was really disturbing...

@onyourway

I get this, every weekend morning is a barrage of 'bloke finds old car in garage and does it up' at top volume. I make tea and retire back up to bed until it's gone Smile
Does my DH have a twin I don’t know about?
DwangelaForever · 27/03/2021 06:49

I wish dh watched factory shows, I love inside the factory and things like that lol. He watches some Australian gamer talk tbe biggest load of crap whilst playing a video game 🤮. That and football. And when we watch stiff together it's to be carefully vetted as there's so much he won't watch 🙄 makes it hard to find something lol.

Mollymalone123 · 27/03/2021 06:53

I have to listen to talk about motorbikes-see motorbikes on tv- go to bed hearing sound of motorbikes- hear endless discussions about parts of motorbikes-and the remote control is apparently my husband’s most important thing ever- I said shall I bury him with it when the time comes 😂😂

CloudFormations · 27/03/2021 06:53

He sounds unbelievably rude! You don’t have to put up with that!

fitflopqueen · 27/03/2021 07:02

Sounds like they are all related! Only yesterday DH was watching Quest and I remarked it should be renamed Middle aged Man TV. We nay start off watching a streamed series together then one of us gets hooked, usually DH, and he will binge watch without me. Love my own TV with Netflix and Prime on the remote, comfy sofa, & the dog always stays with me. Too many years together to not do what you want sometimes/all the time.

Parky04 · 27/03/2021 07:17

Just get another TV. I watch a lot of sport on Sky, DW prefers soaps and dramas.

wheresmymojo · 27/03/2021 09:31

I know this is sort of lighthearted but I really couldn't put up with this...

DH and I both watch shows and YouTube that the other would never be interested in...so we watch that on our own.

When together we agree on what we're going to watch that we'll both enjoy.

wheresmymojo · 27/03/2021 09:35

I'm another with a Dad that had total control of the remote though (and still does when we visit) so years of stewing rage about this means it's a dealbreaker for me!

lazymum99 · 27/03/2021 10:18

It’s not just the bloody car/fixing programs it’s the constant channel flicking. It’s usually on Sky and I think he watches more of a blue strip at the bottom of the TV than an actual program.
I ‘need’ to binge my programs at my pace. Not only do we have multiple TVs but also 2 fire sticks.
Been together for over 40 years so must work!!

PanamaPattie · 27/03/2021 10:38

Two living rooms and two TVs is the recipe for a successful relationship. I too wonder when WW2 will end. SPOILER ALERT - Hitler doesn’t win.
