Did anyone watch this (2nd part still to come)

Young girl Jodi Jones murdered horrifically in woods in Dalkeith, boyfriend was arrested and has been in jail for her murder for the last 18 years but always said he was innocent....

I’m from Edinburgh so was very close to home and remember the aftermath and remember Luke Mitchell’s picture on the front of every single newspaper, he never stood a fair trial from the start...

Wondered what everyone else thought about it?

I’m wondering after reading that article - did his mobile phone signal “ping” and put him at the location of the forest?

When he was supposedly at home texting / ringing from his mobile asking where she was she was ?

Perhaps this is evidence that the jury saw that we have not been made aware of.

( I’m not sure how good / accurate to a metre etc the mobile signals are )

Also very curious who the un named person is ...

The investigators seemed pretty shocked at whatever showed this person to be the main person of interest

@EdgedInBlue im sorry I don't agree. Jurors can be very easily swayed and don't always get it right. Also for the legal system that convicted him and the police that were instrumental in that to now back down and say we may have got it wrong? Its just not going to happen, they would have to admit they absolutely destroyed a childs life! I agree that lie detectors are not completely accurate however they BOTH passed it in separate circumstances and conditions. What are the odds of them both being able to fool a polygraph machine?

RubyWooRed · 26/02/2021 13:01

I have just been on Reddit , the person of interest is named there

AlternativePerspective · 26/02/2021 13:17

What people need to remember though is that this programme was made to question his guilt and to “prove” his innocence.

There’s no way they were going to come back with “on balance it seems he did commit the crime.” I bet if there were a counter documentary it would be equally convincing and the discussion here would be about how people had “always believed in his innocence but now I’m not so sure.”

EdgedInBlue · 26/02/2021 13:31

@wewillmeetagain doesn't matter what the police think, it's the PF who prosecutes and if they don't think there's enough evidence to have a good chance of securing a conviction they won't do it.

As for both passing - plausible if Corrine genuinely believes he's innocent (and what mother wants to think her son did that).

The jury heard all the evidence and convicted on that basis. Even if the jury was wrong the evidence was reviewed by both an appeal court and the SCCRC.

RubyWooRed · 26/02/2021 13:36

I will say Luke Mitchell always seemed very cold and emotionless

Whatever happened to his older brother ? I wonder why he didn’t take part in the documentary?

wewillmeetagain · 26/02/2021 14:08

@EdgedInBlue i disagree completely about his mother being able to pass that test because she thinks he's innocent. She was his alibi so she would have been lying through her teeth if he was guilty. I agree that its been reviewed and his appeals dismissed, but this is by the same system that convicted him! To uphold his appeals would be to admit massive failure in that system.

I passed her hut this morning, such a windswept cold place. Heavy locked gates securing her property.
It looks in a state of bad disrepair.
Whatever the truth my heart goes out to her.

RubyWooRed · 26/02/2021 14:15

Yes it’s a shame if she lives without a toilet or running water or electricity ...
Why would she not be picked up via the benefits system and put in sheltered housing etc as she seems to have health issues too.

Maybe she is attached to the family caravan showroom , memories etc ? ( looked like a caravan showroom / shop she was living in )

AlternativePerspective · 26/02/2021 14:21

Whatever happened to his older brother ? I wonder why he didn’t take part in the documentary? Perhaps because he didn’t want to be hounded. There is often a thought that people are guilty by association from some quarters, and family of murderers etc are often hounded by vigilante mobs.

Perhaps he didn’t want to risk that. If he has his own family by now he may not want them to be targeted.

BilboBercow · 26/02/2021 14:36

What subreddit is this being discussed on?

Covidcorvid · 26/02/2021 15:19

www.reddit.com/r/UnresolvedMysteries/comments/lsjtl9/2003_murder_of_jodi_jones_could_luke_mitchell_be/

Reddit are naming the unnamed suspect

Covidcorvid · 26/02/2021 15:23

Apparantly his brother says Luke wasn’t at home like he says he was.

RubyWooRed · 26/02/2021 15:25

Yes I read that his brother didn’t support his alibi

BilboBercow · 26/02/2021 15:36
Covid I don't know if it's me but those links are taking me to a year old post with 5 comments on it and they don't mention the unnamed suspect
BilboBercow · 26/02/2021 15:40

Oh wait I see the other one now

RubyWooRed · 26/02/2021 15:41

@BilboBercow I got to it by just googling Luke Mitchell Jodi Jones Reddit

There are a few threads running

Covidcorvid · 26/02/2021 15:41

That’s odd, it takes me to a 16 hour old one with 26 comments....

RubyWooRed · 26/02/2021 15:42

I’m
Surprised Reddit haven’t deleted the names
They seem to have deleted a post at the top of the thread ...

RubyWooRed · 27/02/2021 12:42

The posts mentioning names have disappeared from Reddit now.

Covidcorvid · 27/02/2021 12:46

The person mentioned has a criminal conviction for a very serious, very violent, sexual crime. One where the victim was lucky to survive.

speakout · 27/02/2021 12:56

That person is now out of prison living in the community.
