Something to replace Ozark

We've just finished Ozark (which is amazing) and until season 4 drops we need something similar to fill the gap. So please give me your gripping, well acted and written, multi episode drama recommendations!

We have watched and enjoyed The Sopranos, The Wire, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Homeland, Line of Duty, Happy Valley, Sons of Anarchy, Sherlock, Snowfall and probably many more I can't think of right now. We have Netflix and Prime.

Thank you!

"The Shield" is fantastic. Apparently, cops in the US say it's the most true to life police show out there. It's well written, well acted and the characters aren't two dimensional. You go from rooting for someone to truly hating them in the same episode (and then back again!)

I rewatched it all again when it appeared on All4. The characters are the most three dimensional I’ve ever seen in a series (mostly - maybe not Corinne!). It’s also the first show I’ve seen that really deals in the consequences of actions this way - they do certain things in the first few series, and then every series is the noose tightening. Absolutely amazing to watch - I’ve never had a reaction to a TV show like it. There are a few scenes that I really struggle to watch even when I know what’s coming. I’m so jealous of anyone who gets to see it for the first time!

The 3rd series of The Sinner was a big disappointment to me too.

The first season was brilliant because it really did gradually piece together a compelling mystery in an unexpected way. I enjoyed the second season too which had some elements of that.

Season 3 was really missing that - there weren’t really any surprises, everything was telegraphed or outright explained, and some of Harry’s actions were so completely ludicrous.

Still, each season is a stand-alone case so i would just watch the first two!

Also not sure if anyone has mentioned Fargo yet. I was extremely sceptical when it was announced but it‘s incredible, season 2 in particular.

"The Shield" was brilliantly done. Despite announcing in the very first episode that the main protaganist was a cold blooded murderer, it spent 6 seasons where you were cheering them on in spite of, with a very poignant ending of just comeuppance ...

In the same boat OP but am part way through S3 of The Sinner & am tempted to give up on it.Bill Pullman’s hirpling/the flashbacks & hallucinations & really not caring about anybody in it is battling with “you’ve come this far, get some closure” feelings.
