Anyone else watching?

I was quite gripped by the first part. I sort of remember the case although I was very caught up in the world of having a new baby when it happened back in 2001 and probably wasn't fully engaged with the news.

I do remember reading several fairly long news articles about the case over the years and know that Joanne Lees has always been regarded with suspicion in some quarters.

The thing I'm taking from tonight's episode is - how are they going to explain away the suspect/accused Brad Murdoch's DNA being present on her t-shirt?

Also, the defence lawyer. I don't know about him.

This program was a disgrace - who on earth commission this pathetic attempt at a shamed lawyer trying to salvage some self respect by ‘solving a mystery’. No one had any credibility, the whole thing made me very angry.

Just like Kate McCann there were times when you could see JL was holding it together - just because she didn’t cry doesn’t mean she wasn’t upset. I actually applaud her for not talking to the media and I would advise all women to take this stance.

I have no doubt he was high on drugs and had seen Joanne somewhere on their journey and decided to snatch her and rape her

I said that - all this talk of no motive and why would he risk it with a truck full of drugs...who knows what drugs he was taking himself?

The scene where the man said I'm 200 per cent sure I saw Peter Falconio and he's alive today ... But no I didn't call the police

Never heard anything so crazy

I am really surprised about all these experts creeping out of the woodwork and condemning the evidence and theories that led to the conviction....where were they during the actual trial. Are they retired now and getting paid to be part of this documentary? Also something very unnerving about this defence lawyer ... that there are people out there who's job it is to defend the bad guys by any means ( by his own admission he had drug lords and whatnots as his clients).

I have to agree with all that has been said. The law lecturer who I think holds some credibility summed it up when he said he thought the right man had been convicted but admitted that the evidence was a bit weak and also the court journalist who also felt right man was convicted but was a bit dubious with the methods employed to get there. I think Joanne Lees is completely innocent and experienced a horrendous traumatic event but knew her actions and lifestyle would be scrutinised by the media even though it had nothing to do with them so stayed away from them.

I have traveled that stretch of road, the year before this incident. I was in my early twenties and I was were traveling with a group of friends. Some of the people we met were scary and many were living and working in these remote areas for a reason, trying to hide from the law, their lives etc some real oddballs

The whole program is total shite and not in any way a balanced discussion. The lawyer asked why she couldn't have been found hiding in sparse bush? Australia has had years of droughts and bush was denser then. She also ran and hid at a diagonal to the truck and the night (according to the lorry driver) was pitch black. Of course she could have hidden successfully. BM picked up Peters body and took it with him to bury somewhere remote.

And having grown up in the bush, it’s drummed into you that in the outback you don’t leave the road if you don’t know exactly where you’re going. It’s incredibly easy to get lost even in the daytime, let alone at night without the sun as a guide.

Was Nick who had affair with Joanne ever questioned by the police?

JacobReesMogadishu · 13/06/2020 07:17

The programme didn’t say if Nick had been interviewed or not. I’d assume so. He lived in Sydney I think so assume he was some distance away and easily able to prove this.

Read today that Joanne’s own step father now thinks Murdoch is innocent after watching the documentary! Ffs!
