I've flicked it back on yo fast forward through it:

Why on earth did they swap presenters half way through?! Surely in this situation they should have just had 2-3 presenters that stayed the same throughout? Hmm

Peter Kay looked terrible, he must be ill I think. He just didn't look or seem like his usual self. Very sad.

Abreadsandwich · 23/04/2020 23:21

I might watch on catch up tomorrow (and can fast forward the waffle bits I'm not interested in. Pause/fast forward and catch up are the way forward with most programmes apart from dramas. A lot are padded out with so much tedious fluff you can watch in half the time (or less) ahem strictly....

@Noodlenosefraggle no Christopher Eccleston though

Noodlenosefraggle · 24/04/2020 07:37

Oh yeah I know. Youd think hed put his differences aside for 5 minutes! More talking about him not being there and what a shame it was than if he'd done it I suppose!

englishmummyinwales · 24/04/2020 08:24

Watched with my sons, age 10 & 11 and we enjoyed it. I don’t normally watch telethons as there’s so much filler and weak material (and DH sat in another room as he can’t bear them) but thought the presenters did well. I don’t get the Zoe Ball hate, thought Paddy McGuinness was the weakest. Lenny Henry is in fine shape, love it when he gets the giggles.

Times Like These made me well up, beautifully done. My sons loved the Miranda sketches - I was always ambivalent about her but they want to watch the old episodes now. They also liked Jack Whitehall.

Little Britain showed how out of date it is although the hand made costumes were good. We liked the Doctor Who montage (get over it Ecclestone, you spoilsport!) and Lauren/David Tennant.

My favourite was Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon but I appreciate that The Trip is like Marmite. One son said “is that it? Is that the actual sketch?” Yes dear boy, that IS the point!

Anyway it was a good idea. We entered the David Walliams competition and matched it with a local charity as the downside of these things is that the smaller charities tend to see a dip in donations as people only have a certain amount to spare.

englishmummyinwales · 24/04/2020 08:25

Oh and I couldn’t stop admiring all of Davina’s storage in her bedroom!

billysboy · 24/04/2020 08:29

comes to something when all the fuss and the beebs slebs can muster are out done by a bloke walking up and down his garden

Hail Captain Tom

why dont they cull a few of these people and donate their over inflated wages paid to their tax avoiding companies and we could then spend more on vital services

All of these slebs trying to do something to remain relevant

covetingthepreciousthings · 24/04/2020 09:16

They also liked Jack Whitehall

I was fascinated by the life size sarcophagus in the corner of his living room!!

motorcyclenumptiness · 24/04/2020 09:16

I liked it - the Miranda clip was very sweet, the LB costumes were brilliant (esp the toast sideburns and panscrub hair), loved Jason M's bookshelves, the orchestra, Davina's dress and Paul McGann. Just the right amount of cheesiness, nostalgia and good humour - although had it been any longer I'd have been throwing socks at the telly.

ConfessionsOfAChocoholic · 24/04/2020 09:17

I'm not being funny but 'slebs' can't win here. A couple of posts before yours criticises Christopher Eccleston for not taking part, you're complaining that they do!

It was a quick way to raise some millions, that's the good thing about it.

Personally I thought the Little Britain sketch was brilliant and still very funny.

CoolShoeshine · 24/04/2020 09:38

I can’t believe how many miseries on here are knocking it so much! It was pretty entertaining considering it had to be put together quickly and with limited resources. It raised plenty of money for good causes which would otherwise have stayed in people’s bank accounts. Why can’t people accept things for what they are rather than having to pick them apart so critically?

ineedaholidaynow · 24/04/2020 10:22

I liked the Miranda sketch.

DraughtyWindow · 24/04/2020 13:08

There are some really horrible comments on here. Christ, I’m glad I don’t know many of you in real life. A bunch of people trying to do their best and all you can do is pick them apart. Absolutely shameful.

Noodlenosefraggle · 24/04/2020 17:02

Agree. They didnt have to do anything. They could have sat in their very nice houses doing nothing but they didn't and have raised a lot of much needed cash for struggling charities. How do you know they havent donated some of their millions? Many of them have had their gigs cancelled for the year so eont be working for most of 2020. All the presenters did. If they told everyone it would be virtue signalling in the extreme.

covetingthepreciousthings · 24/04/2020 17:56

I agree, they can't win. They're either slated for appearing and being worth millions, or they don't appear and they'll get slated for being a bad sport.

To be fair we have no idea who or who hasn't donated out of their fortune, and I'd rather keep it that way than have them all fawning over whose donated the most or virtue signalling etc.

Standrewsschool · 24/04/2020 18:53

I liked the Doctors sketch with all the Doctors, and also Matt Lucas Baked a Potato song.

Vicar of Dibley I thought was trying a bit hard, (and a bit risqué for that time?).

Steven Fry and Prince William - good sketch.

The David Tennant/Katherine TTe didn’t really do it for me (found DT’s lockdown hairstyle off putting- don’t know why).

Rishi - good segment.

GinWithASplashOfTonic · 24/04/2020 23:52

Standrewsschool I didn't think the greasy hair scraped back with an Alice band look did DT any favours. He should have embraced the unruly hair and given it a wash not tried to hide it

Noodlenosefraggle · 25/04/2020 09:19

He did a tweet along to one of his old episodes the other day ( well he tried- his wife did most of it) and had the same long greasy hair in that. Maybe he just missed the hairdresser before lockdown!
