I’m not sure how many on MN watched the first series of Save Me in 2017 on Sky One but it was brilliant. Just seen that the second series starts on 1st April. It’s well worth watching and the whole series should be available straight off. Great acting, riveting plot and was just amazing.

Suranne Jones was miscast I thought. She was just the same in Dr Foster.

SEASON 1 SPOILERS!! I enjoyed S1 and liked the fact that it had a realistic ending, rather than a happy one. But, I just couldn't get over the fact that the whole online grooming, kidnap and child trafficking was orchestrated by a couple of stoner students as payback for Nelly throwing them out the pub.

How would they have got access to that paedophile network and the dark web? And why would they bother? And why was Nelly and his mates all happy to hang out with the Stephen Graham character who was the friendly local paedo? It was all too much of a stretch for me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/04/2020 20:00

Coz tech melon was a paed as did things with the blonde
Lady when he was camp master and then he married her

Assume married as both wear rings

Obv What he did was wrong but not sure he should have been on sex offenders list for life

Compared to those who really are perves

But think That why nelly and boys were friends with him

Esp as Luke was the boss of it all

Tho did seem weird that KELLY hadn’t seen his daughter for 10yrs and sure said that he only found he had a daughter when was 3

Why choose that girl to sell

He obv didn’t seem to care about his daughter as signed her away and husband adopted her

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/04/2020 20:01

@YippeeKayakOtherBuckets you’ve finished s2?

Giffgaff99 · 01/04/2020 23:45

Binge watched it all today and it's ok but not as good as series 1. Didnt think much actually happened in S2 tbh and disappointed with the end

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 02/04/2020 09:50

@Blondeshavemorefun yep Blush

I got up early and powered through it. I rewatched season one over the previous two days as well. I’m furloughed so my days are long and dull.

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2020 17:57

Seen e1. Refuse to download rest

Will watch weekly

Blondeshavemorefun · 02/04/2020 17:59

And obV lHe didn’t Kill Gideon

But why has he got the girl he rescued

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 02/04/2020 18:44

All will become clear.

supercee · 02/04/2020 18:49

I've finished it too. I'm undecided.

JKScot4 · 02/04/2020 21:30

Suranne Jones does seem to be flavour of the month, she was atrocious in Gentleman Jack and was hopeless in S1 of Save Me.

happiness1212121 · 03/04/2020 00:15

I finished series 2.
Spoiler alert - was Grace heavily pregnant in roof tops scenes? What happened to the baby? When she was dancing in the flat she had a completely flat stomach. Confused???

supercee · 03/04/2020 06:05

*Spoiler alert -

Her hoodie was zipped over her bag which she was wearing to the front which made it look like she was pregnant. I wondered that too but you see her unzipping it.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 03/04/2020 08:17

I think that was a purposeful misdirect. I missed her unzipping it and was so confused, I had to go back and rewatch.

Skybluepink123 · 03/04/2020 13:16

I’ve watched the entire series. No spoilers, I promise, but Lennie James has apparently said that there will likely be a third series.

Enjoyed series 2.

Spoiler

Not sure why Nelly didn't get the police straight away once he found her. Was that so he could set Paul up but then he moved. I mean why confront him. Should have gone to police after that.
Hmmm. Also wanted to see more at the end.

WhatKatyDidNot · 06/04/2020 08:45

I liked the second season as much as I liked the first.

Lennie James has written himself a really good flawed hero central character. You can't help but admire his persistence but he's also the architect of much of the disasters due to his reckless nature.

spoilerish

S2 ending hinges on two police interviews taking place at the same time, which could easily have been resolved with one phone call from Nelly. Unsure whether I see this as lazy writing or indicative of Nelly's character.

veryboredtoday · 06/04/2020 16:13

Great series. Caught up on series 1 at the weekend. Now half way through series 2. Meant to watch one a week but was glued to my seat and ended up watching 3 episodes last night. Superb acting.

diddl · 06/04/2020 19:09

Just watched episode 5 of season 1.

WHAT?????

It's the kids who are behind it??

I'm past caring now so don't think I'll bother anymore!

refraction · 06/04/2020 19:25

It's not the kids.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/04/2020 19:44

@diddl you need to see e6

Bloody brilliant

diddl · 06/04/2020 19:45

Oh so Luke knowing about saltfish dumplings was a red herring??!!

I'll have to watch then.

It's quite well done but part of me wishes I'd never started.

Exploitation of young girls as part of a drama.

refraction · 06/04/2020 20:09

I actually liked season 2 better for character development.

diddl · 08/04/2020 19:10

Hmm, so wasn't expecting a happy ever after so the ending didn't surprise me.

So was it Luke & his friend who sold her to whoever picked her up in the silver car?

How did that come about then-from pretending to be her dad to getting child traffickers involved?

It was quite good overall but won't be bothering with the next series.

YippeeKayakOtherBuckets · 08/04/2020 21:18

It was mainly Luke, his friend wanted to stop at that point which is why he couldn’t live with it. Luke was basically just a nasty little psychopath, and he sold her to the traffickers. He really hates Nelly and wanted to cause maximum damage.
