Started watching the first episode today when the baby napped, and I think it’s fair to say, even the first 5 minutes made for some the three most horrific tv I’ve ever watched Sad
Anyone else started it??

Baby is asleep on me right now, but I’ll have a look at that YouTube link when she wakes up!

@ThePolishWombat the woman (Isabel) speaks really quickly & her audio is rubbish, so you'll need to concentrate.

ThePolishWombat · 07/03/2020 16:35

@QueenOfOversharing noted. Forgot to watch it and the small one is now sleeping again Blush I need some earbuds for moments like this

It seems like the whole child protection system needs a shake up in the US. They seem miles behind where we are in the UK in terms of more joined up working between agencies (and it's still not perfect here).

I'm 4 episodes in and this case is just so upsetting, it's been on my mind constantly, I almost regret starting. I'm generally quite liberal lefty, and definitely against the death penalty, then I watch this and find myself thinking I hope that they get executed. I felt a bit tearful earlier when my little boy came bounding over for a cuddle.

ThePolishWombat · 08/03/2020 13:03

Oyster my youngest was asleep on my chest when I watched episode 1. I had to turn it off after 15 mins and just sobbed into the top of her head Sad

I did brave it again once all the DCs were in bed, and I’m glad I saw it through to the end

I'm watching this and I actually want to stop but I can't because I need to know that justice is done for the poor little mite.
Those social workers disgust me - the older woman saying that she did nothing wrong - I'm lost for words 😡😡😢

I was studying postgrad law & we were looking into the case of James Bulger - my DS was the same age as he was when he was murdered. I walked out of a seminar in tears & picked up my DS early from nursery. Some things affect you so deeply.

ThePolishWombat · 09/03/2020 07:33

@QueenOfOversharing I saw his mum on Loose Women when my DC1 was about 15 months old. I was heavily pregnant with DC2, and listening to her talk about how fast he just disappeared totally shook me, and has never left me.
If we are out in public as a family, and DH takes one of the DCs to the loo or whatever, I still feel a little on edge until they are back in my eyeline - even though I know they are perfectly safe with their dad!!!

@ThePolishWombat it was a horrific case, wasn't it? I don't know how she carries on.

ThePolishWombat · 09/03/2020 12:50

@QueenOfOversharing I was a tiny baby when it happened, and my sister was 4. My mum says that from the day the news broke, it changed the whole way she parented because it scared her so much

I've just watched this documentary. There are no words for how actual people could do this to a child. What an awful shame he couldn't have stayed with his uncle. He'd still be alive Sad

MrsEsss · 28/03/2020 06:52

I've just finished watching this. That poor little boy. I don't blame the teacher; I think she felt helpless and unsupported by her head ("don't take pictures, we don't Investigate"). She followed the correct procedure but for some reason he was still able to fall through the cracks. I don't understand how social care could have been convinced by the parents' explanations for all his bruises. But we know it's happened and we know it's happened here. Every time a child dies "lessons are learnt" but the same mistakes happen again and again.

That little boy was crying out for help. He also loved his mum. Those mother's Day coupons "time for you and me" and "I'll bet good". 😢

Child safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. That little boy was failed by everyone. There were so many opportunities to save him.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 01/05/2020 07:45

I’ve nearly finished

Unpopular view (but given people
Are pro death penalty I’ll put it out there !)

People like Chrystal should be financially incentivised to not reproduce

As families can’t help
Teachers are as seen here are powerless
Social workers are clearly fallible

Poor Gabriel , and that’s an understatement

Actually my theory is crap as she only
Mistreated him ( similar to daniel Pelka case )

I don’t know what the answer is , as at the end of the day it’s comes down to mental health , poverty and circle of abuse - impossible to eradicate

Watching final tonight
