I love stuff like this.

Ditto, what lovely boys

Sparklybaublefest · 04/12/2019 21:52

When will the dogs come back

titnomatani · 04/12/2019 21:55

Mo can't do right for doing wrong. I don't think he and Syler will last. The Nkrumah family are adorable.

NoSauce · 04/12/2019 21:55

The boys are just gorgeous. The whole family is tbf. So loving and supportive of each other.

Sotiredsomuch · 04/12/2019 21:55

Ohhhh those daddies with their babies are melting me!!!

Syler's mum is supportive of her but so dismissive of Mo.

titnomatani · 04/12/2019 21:57

Love how Misha and the husband de-escalated the argument and ended up having a laugh!

Sotiredsomuch · 04/12/2019 21:59

They seem like such a strong couple.

OMG, a tender moment between the mum and Mo- finally 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Sparklybaublefest · 04/12/2019 22:00

Very difficult in the early days

Sotiredsomuch · 04/12/2019 22:01

I hope Mo pulls it out of the bag.

I’m watching on catch up now. Only half way through but I think it’s become glaringly obvious that mum of 5 is desperately trying to distract herself from something by having lots of children and filling her schedule to bursting point. I also wonder how her parents feel about all these babies when it looks like they’re doing a lot of the care and ferrying around for the older ones. Her parents look to be in their 70s. That’s quite a lot to expect of them.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 04/12/2019 22:56

Feeling so sorry for Mo. He’s getting yelled at constantly. He’s probably sick of the sound of his own name.

DappledThings · 04/12/2019 23:01

I'm finding the mum of 5 really odd as well. She seems to be rushing out to Guides to make some kind of point about how well she's coping. She also seems the most conscious of the cameras.

And I hated the whole thing about wanting to show the girls how easy it is to be out and about with a breastfed newborn but then fucking about with a cover. I think telling young teens that if you want to breastfeed in public you need to use a cover os a shit message. I know she didn't overtly say that but that's what she's demonstrating and normalising.

The Nkrumah family are brilliant. Those boys are just so lovely and they are all pulling together with so little fuss.

DappledThings · 04/12/2019 23:14

Replacing an I with a Y in a boy's name does not make it a girl's name.

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 04/12/2019 23:34

It would have been nice to see a single mum having a baby. I wonder why they didn’t have one on the show.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/12/2019 23:58

Didn't like his comment 'it's my way in Egypt and Sylers way here'. I haven't got a clue what that was referring to...

I thought it was pretty clear,he meant seeing as he lives in the UK now and is with a British woman and her family he will go against tradition and go against how he was brought up. What else do you think he meant?

I think Syler's mum was fine tbh, I think she's in a hard position herself and is very affectionate towards Mo.

A PP earlier mentioned 20 years ago babies were put on their backs at the foot of the bed- what are the guidelines now if they've changed?

IWorkAtTheCheesecakeFactory · 05/12/2019 00:04

Same guidelines today mrs

I think it must be really strange for Mo. It would be the equivalent of syler going to live in Egypt and having to accept her husband doing fuck all and being expected to cook and clean for him while recovering from childbirth. It would be hard to adjust to that initially.

DappledThings · 05/12/2019 01:56

Those are still the guidelines. Syler was apparently unaware of them. The feet to foot bit is less relevant if you are using a sleeping bag though.

WaterSheep · 05/12/2019 06:58

Last night just strengthened my original thought that Syler and Mo would do better in their own place.

The Nkrumah family are amazing, they seem to be a very close family and the 2 boys are a credit to them.

The family of 5 do seem to rely on her parents a lot, it's very generous of them to look after the eldest 4 so the parents could go to guides and scouts. I also get the sense that the older children are feeling very left out now the newest baby is here.

Sotiredsomuch · 05/12/2019 07:08

I also felt that the mum of five is trying to make some sort of point with going back to guides and sitting on the sofa comparing schedules with her husband. It was a bit odd. Trying to prove that new babies don’t affect their lives very much? Looks like next week she asks one of the kids if they should have more babies. She might be the next Sue Redford Grin

I agree it would have been good to see a single mum too.

I enjoyed this so much again last night although looking at all those sleeping babies and thinking "well is this going to last 10 minutes or 4 hours" took me right back to that terrible, permanent unpredictability of having a newborn.

The Mum of 5 clearly sees herself as some sort of superwoman and everyone else in her family just has to go along with it, including her tiny children. Just watching the way they rush and blunder through everything makes me feel uncomfortable.

Since when has it become the norm to put a hat on a baby the instant he or she is born? Those hats were on the twins before they'd even been wrapped in a blanket. It almost looked like they were born wearing them! Grin.

As for that scene of Mo and all his male inlaws down the pub ... what a terrible throwback that was. You could see every single man there wishing we could go back to the days when men worked and women knew their place. Awful.

Sparklybaublefest · 05/12/2019 07:37

it is in the editing remember, Mo was asked to drive them, i wonder if the camera crew made the suggestion!

Sotiredsomuch · 05/12/2019 07:43

My kids born in the last decade had hats put on them straight after birth. It’s to keep body temp up I think. Not sure when it started though.
