Prime & Netflix - feeling fragile, gimme some sweet (but not saccharine) gentle movies & shows

Got a lot going on that's stressing me out.

Need stuff to watch that's easy, non offensive, sweet (but not tearjerker), not disturbing/tense, but still engaging and involving.

Does that make sense?

Fluff but good quality fluff?

As examples:
Evan almighty
About time (though that errs towards tearjerker side for me)
Friends
Pitch perfect
Gilmore girls
Hitch
Life as we know it (as about time)
Highway to Heaven
Role models (ok some might find that offensive I didn't)
Best exotic marigold hotel
Downton abbey

So...yea probably a bit schmaltzy but not too much? Schmaltz with an edge?

I wish I could watch
Touched by an Angel
Quantum leap

Jane the Virgin?

Graphista · 22/09/2019 02:52

Jane the Virgin I love but eyesight poor and struggling with the subtitled parts (I need to sort new glasses!)

Going out in style on prime was pretty good. Cheered me up last night!

ParadiseLaundry · 22/09/2019 02:54

I've just noticed that Ally McBeal is on Prime! Would that fit your criteria? I'm going to watch it when I finish Glee. Oh, and Glee Grin

Graphista · 22/09/2019 17:02

Ally McBeal on my list but LONG time since I watched it and couldn't think if sad bits in it. Remember the dancing baby!

Music and Lyrics (film) on Prime is lovely and funny.

Hope things get better for you.

Timeless on Netflix.

Chuck on Prime. Quite a lot of fight scenes, but funny.
Leverage on Prime.

PancakeAndKeith · 22/09/2019 17:14

Kim’s Convenience on Netflix.
Very funny and gentle.

Goatrider · 22/09/2019 20:16

Crazy ex girlfriend
Grace and Frankie

They're 2 of my favourite comfort shows

Wellwhatalovelyday · 22/09/2019 20:19

The Jack Whitehall travels with my father show. Loved it. Another vote for Grace and Frankie too.

NationMcKinley · 22/09/2019 20:21

Oh absolutely Grace and Frankie. It’s ace. Stardust is one of my favourite feel-good films. It’s lovely

dramaqueen · 22/09/2019 20:21

Tiny House Nation on Netflix. Compulsive easy viewing.

Chupchup · 22/09/2019 20:27

Gilmore Girls saved me during a period of anxiety. I'd never have normally watched that!

boujie · 22/09/2019 22:06

All time favourite film for this kind of mood is Chef (with John Favreau)- it's totally feel good, has great characters, just a lovely and enjoyable film.

My therapy series are Gilmore Girls & Heartland. Very warming and PG X

MerryMarigold · 22/09/2019 22:42

Watched a documentary on Netflix last night about guide dogs following puppies g from birth to becoming guide dogs. It was great.

Ouchiebum · 22/09/2019 22:46

You need to watch Mozart in the jungle. Absolutely brilliant show about an orchestra in New York. Beautiful people, beautiful music and very very entertaining

Becles · 22/09/2019 22:48

Psych is on Prime.

And Parks and Recreation

Both guaranteed to leave you more positive.

RockysMa · 22/09/2019 22:51

Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix. It's a series where Phil Rosenthal (wrote Everybody Loves Raymond) goes to different cities on a food tour. It's an easy watch and quite funny.

Graphista · 22/09/2019 23:01

Thanks for all the suggestions will have a look see.

This is us - to the pp who mentioned, I love this show but it is far too heart rending for me to watch right now I'm afraid.

Partly why I'm feeling fragile is due to losing loved ones in the past year and that would just be too close to the bone.

I second Tiny House Nation! I know it's not quite what you requested, but it's just so easy to watch and fascinating.

Or that cutest animals programme on Netflix - always cheers me up!
