Boobsgonesouth · 08/08/2007 20:02

Had a call from Estate agents today and they have been approached by the producers from above TV programme and would like to view our house as a consideration as a property for the next series !!!!!

OMG OMG OMG (grin) (grin)...

We're really deserate to sell and if they do take it on it will be much better publicity than what the estate agents are doing...Am SOOOOOOO excited...wanted to share it with you all !!!

Anyway, producers are 'viewing' on monday morning, will make the decision whether it meets criteria of people who are looking, then will film in the afternoon if it does........

WOW

But I would worry about the security of my stuff

like valuables to be shown on TV

So hide all the valuables and family silver and ipods etc.

GhostWriter · 08/08/2007 20:05

Ooh. I love Escape to the Country. If you meet that blonde presenter tell her I dislike her pedal pushers and pointy shoes. You must have a beautiful house, I watch the show like this

How exciting for you!

RTKangaMummy · 08/08/2007 20:05

what part of country are you?

Carmenere · 08/08/2007 20:07

I don't want to put a dampener but I'd imagine that your house should have sold long before the programme is on air. It is bound to take months from filming until airing time.

lucykate · 08/08/2007 20:08

wow, how exciting. beware though, so many times on that programme, when it comes to the potential buyers making an offer on any of the properties, end up saying they've changed their minds about moving after all!

Boobsgonesouth · 08/08/2007 20:08

RTKG - property is empty as we've already moved to Somerset -rented it for a while so has vacant posession so no 'family heirlooms' on display !!! Bit worried about that actually as without a dot in it it is going to look so souless.....be interesting to see what they say.

House is in Wiltshire, not far from Avebury World heritage site, just on the foot of the marlborough downs !!!

yep, will be months. my friend is one fo the house in the sun presenters and shes off filming for 9m at a time, then they show the series way after shes home.
the world of telly is such a disapointment in reality eh?

Boobsgonesouth · 08/08/2007 20:11

Carmenere- you're right, we've said that it'll probably be ages away before it's actually shown (if it does get selected)...... will pass on your message ghostwriter...I love this programme too !!

Ooh I love Escape to the Country, tell the presenter to ditch the espadrilles though.

RTKangaMummy · 08/08/2007 20:19

Cool

I would hate to hear you had been broken into following it being on TV

Hope they choose your house

TranquilaManana · 08/08/2007 20:21

also - the presenters dont get to choose what they wear. producers/costume dept do that.

CharleeWeasley · 08/08/2007 20:21

Cool i lurve Escape to the country!

The people that go on thier looking for homes are so fussy though! I hear comments like 'oh no i don't want this house i don't like thier sofa' Your not buying the sofa you ejit!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway i hope you get picked, i will be watching!

ProfYaffle · 08/08/2007 20:24

Really TranquilaManana?? Has she p*ssed them off do you think??

rantinghousewife · 08/08/2007 20:25

Obviously I'm not the only closet watcher of Escape..., am I the only one who sometimes wants to scream at the people on it, 'no you won't get a palatial mansion with 6 bedrooms in Devon for 250k'

TranquilaManana · 08/08/2007 20:35

lol Prof - yes, i do think they might be a little mean in their decisions at times. ive seen my friend in some hideously unflattering outfits on sometimes! maybe its is off-camera staffs way of getting a dig in to diva-like presenters?? (or percieved to be so)

anniebear · 09/08/2007 07:57

they rarey end up buying properties on that programme do they? Most of them havent even sold their own home!

Always annoys me at the end lol!!......... "In the end Doug and Dora decided not to buy a 4 bedroom cottage in Cornwall, and are now looking for a 1 bedroomed flat in Scotland"

TootyFrooty · 09/08/2007 08:01

My dh describes that programme as "a bunch of townies with hopelessly unrealistic ideas about living in the countryside" and says that's why they never buy anything.

LadyMacbeth · 09/08/2007 08:02

I often wonder what it would be like to have my house on this programme - you get to see what people REALLY think of your house! Sometimes the buyers completely pull apart the houses on there and I often think it could be worse publicity! Your house could become a national pariah!

LadyMacbeth · 09/08/2007 08:04

Did I mention the word house enough times in that last para?

I totally agree about how crap the programme is though in terms of lining people up with their future home. I reckon the 'buyers' either just want to be on TV or are property voyeurs of the highest order!

zippitippitoes · 09/08/2007 08:06

that blonded presenter is such a.... particular kind of person

I'd have no truck with the bbc ever again...they stitched me up royally over filming my shop and getting me to lend furniture for that make a million from houses programme...trust them ..no

LIZS · 09/08/2007 08:37

How exciting but isn't that the show where they never actually get as far as buying a property ?

I didn 't know you had a shop, zippitippitoes. Do you sell furniture?

Boobsgonesouth, how exciting for you! As it's not your main family home, I think you're in a better position as you can be more detatched about the whole process, viewers comments etc. I suppose you just need to be clear about what's in it for you.
