Did you like it?

It REALLY pissed me off that she was pregnant again.

I think it did a fantastic portrayal of how desperate someone feels after having a horrific birth and deciding that actually one is enough and weren't we lucky to have both made it and how that is rarely portrayed.

The whole point of the show was that motherhood isn't all moonlight and roses and it's really bloody hard .

Then, ta da happy Disney ending and she's pregnant again and every thing is all hunky dory.

What the hell was all the chat about her not being able to have further children and it wasn't a risk either of them were willing to take?Confused

Hmm

It was a cliche wasn't it.

LoafofSellotape · 02/08/2019 23:04

Yes it was, there was just no need for it,it was a great ending without her needing to be pregnant again.

Omg! I bingewatched this and missed it entirely Blush
I thought she'd filmed the interview with Ambrose then watched her do the same intro to the new group out of nostalgia before it came full circle that she'd mislaid her child again...
I honestly hadn't noticed bump (I am plus size and it was a clingy dress) nor the empty chair.
Dammit OP, you just ruined it for me, I had thought it was a perfect ending before that!!

I think you must have done if you say she is pregnant for the third time.

What the hell was all the chat about her not being able to have further children and it wasn't a risk either of them were willing to take?

To be fair, when they discussed it, it was half that and half just not wanting another baby at the time. I liked that bit, I thought it was really realistic and did get at the whole "parenthood isn't all roses" thing. Their attitude wasn't "oh we'd love to have another baby but very sadly we can't for health reasons". It was more "we are too bloody exhausted to even consider this".

Therefore it makes sense that a few years later, when they are less exhausted and the horror of delivery/newborn period has faded, they may change their minds and want another. Actually I think this is really common.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/08/2019 01:14

So the uterine tear was meant to have healed sufficiently for a third conception/second birth or they really were going to play Russian Roulette with regard to hemorrhaging?
I did like how they dealt with the abortion story line - the only other series I have seen recently where it was dealt with sympathetically/fairly were Sex Education and Workin' Moms.

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 03/08/2019 01:18

space the impending move to Australia is the end of series 1. The aborted pregnancy is touched upon in episode 1 of series 2 so is early in the series and not a twist later. The third pregnancy at the end of series 2 is so blink and you miss it/subtly done* that I really don't think you have spoilt the series as a whole tbh - across the 6 episodes there's lots to enjoy.
*I am telling myself that because I am clearly as thick as mince not picking it up!!!

I think it was more they were really as a couple to have a second. I also agree that it sets it up for season 3. Love the series

Boom25 · 04/08/2019 01:11

I didn't find this too annoying. I took it more that she wasnt physically ready at 7/8/9 month because of the caesarian scar, a particular risk of rupure because shed had to have the T cut procedure, as well as emotionally not ready (neither would I have been)

BitOfFun · 04/08/2019 01:26

Where can I watch this, please?

BitOfFun · 04/08/2019 02:33

Never mind, I've found it!

RageAgainstTheVendingMachine · 04/08/2019 03:00

Hey lovely, am Envy bof you get to see it new, it's a decent bingewatch. Watch Workin' Moms after if you enjoyed it (also on netflix). Sisters is also good. Brew Cake

LoafofSellotape · 04/08/2019 06:57

Is there a season 3, I felt that was a very final ending?

Finally watched the last episode!

sellotape, i’m with you, I was disappointed that Audrey was pregnant again. I thought that they dealt with the mental and physical nuances of her birth trauma really well.

I really appreciated it as it mirrored my experience fairly closely and it’s not something you see explored often on TV.
I would have liked a little bit more on coming to terms with that kind of medical advice.

However, I did like the fact that she had regained her identity/sense of self at the end.

LoafofSellotape · 06/08/2019 01:06

Yes,me too.
