London Kills BBC1

I came across this by chance.Started yesterday and shown each day at 1:45pm and then again at night (was 11:50pm yesterday)

Not really sure what I think of it, but really just wanted to say I hope Sharon Small doesn't mind being endlessly cast as another version of Havers all through her career.

(I am hoping as it has a day time slot it wont have too much overt violence and uncalled for female nudity. I just story telling.)

Redshoeblueshoe

In fact I checked on wikipedia, it was just I remember watching the UK series of Law and Order because it was advertised as a remake of the US one (which I think was loosing viewers).

Although of course London Kills isn't like that show as it episode doesn't have the crime solved and taken to court.

Have checked tv times and it seems series 2 will start today on Acorn TV - whatever that is. meaww.com/london-kills-new-season-london-kills-season-2-acorn-tv-release-date-cast-plot-trailer

What on earth is acorn tv ?

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/07/2019 20:21

Acorn TV is an American subscription streaming service offering television programming from the United Kingdom, as well as Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Spain. It is available on a variety of devices including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku.

So to watch a BBC program I have to use an American streaming service Confused

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/07/2019 22:46

Yep seems silly

I’ve never understood how to stream

Hopefully they will come back to bbc 1 soon

SenecaFalls · 16/07/2019 12:52

It's an Acorn original production, their first. The BBC bought it from Acorn.

I subscribe to Acorn here in the States, and I just discovered London Kills. I have seen two episodes so far, and I really like it. I'm saving the rest, including the second season, to binge watch while on vacation.

Redshoeblueshoe · 16/07/2019 13:54

Thanks Seneca I didn't pick up on that.
I enjoyed it too, so well done Acorn

stumbledin · 16/07/2019 13:54

Sorry if my message about Acorn TV confused anybody. It was just the conincidence of it being the date that series 2 was being shown.

So this means series one was profitable enought to make series 2, and it will be up to the BBC to decide if enough people watched it here for them to buy the second series.

I think series one was shown about 6 months after the US so maybe in December?

They also make Agatha Raison on Sky 1.

Many of the shows available in the UK have already aired in the US and Canada. eg a new show I've started watching with Archie Panjabi on Universal - I posted a heads up but nobody seemed interested! After she left the Good Wife the show went down hill.

I see new episodes of Red Rock are now being shown in the early afternoon slot. I think I watched the first series on catch up but have no memory of it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 17/07/2019 13:26

Let’s hope s2 appears soon

I don’t think he pushed her as wants info about his wife

Not sure why sd hates him so much

icelolly99 · 19/07/2019 16:44

Just watched these back to back: I enjoyed it and hope there's another series.

buggerthebotox · 20/07/2019 11:40

@stumbledin

I am completely confused - I am an avid fan and don't know if these are new episodes or old ones.

They are advertised as "Series 3" but I think they've already been shown.

Anyone enlighten me please? (Sorry for the hijack btw..).

buggerthebotox · 20/07/2019 11:41

That message didn't come out right - I'm talking about Red Rock.

stumbledin · 20/07/2019 15:47

@buggerthebotox

I appreciate the last message I posted was a bit confused but relates back to my starting this thread. That is that every now and again on BBC early afternoons there are often crime series which aren't necessarily all about killing and maiming women ie torture porn.

I usually come across them on catch up because so much of daily programming is just rubbish.

So when searching to see if there was any mention of London Kills series 2 being shown on BBC1 I saw the slot was currently filled by Reck Rock which I had watched - but like you hadn't realised it was onto series 3. The first 2 series dont seem to be available online any more. But 30 episodes on series 3 are online - but have now seen that it was cancelled after this series by the company that made it in Ireland.

I do know that occassionally the BBC will make available an entire series as I started watching something called A Place Called Home, forgot about it, and then saw on my on demand service (via Virgin Media called UK TV) they made the whole series available. This was an Australian family drama which had weird sub plots. Sort of political.

I just find them interesting particularly when set in other countries, as I know I should take them with a pinch of salt, but makes me aware that not everybody is stuck in the UK drowning in Brexit.

Not sure that this makes it any clearer.

Thanks stumbled on.

I think I've managed to figure out what's happening with Red Rock. When I looked closer at iPlayer each episode's icon says when it was last shown. I'm watching the episodes that haven't been shown before.

I still think I've managed to miss some but hey ho!

Summer's not summer without RR!

I quite liked London Kills as well.

Optimist1 · 24/03/2020 12:11

Just a heads up that series 2 is starting on BBC1 next Monday (30 April) at 2:15
