(I actually know Russell in real life - and he's generally quite lovely to be around.)
I caught this by accident last week - and didn't even notice the time slipping past. Jane Seymour... I think it was summed up this week, and last, she has a floaty/dreamily ethereal "thing" going on with her work. It's what she thinks ought to exist, perhaps, rather than the starkness of what actually exists?
Phil... I loved his painting this week. He just doesn't care, does he? In a good way...
And I love the way he and Laurence seem to have formed a bromance. As soon as they were told they were to pair up, Laurence just grabbed Phil... I really liked the way in which the tutors paired them so that they were learning something from their partner, though. I think that was genuinely good for some of them.
George and Amber have genuine talent - and I'm enthralled by the way he reacted when he got oil paint on his sleeve! Like a little boy who didn't want to be told off when he got home (my son's done similar during art lessons at school...). When they showed some of his art last week, I actually really liked them! I think he's possibly the one who is listening to the tutors a little more than the others, too, which is promising.
Josie... her work just seems too flat to me. When Daphne commented on how she'd been thinking how good the landscape was... until the tree incident, her reaction was... I don't know. It just seemed as flat as her painting, maybe? I know she was aiming for texture and layers in her landscape, but it didn't translate as well on TV as the others did - even though most of those were literally non-textured/flat.
Who do I think will win... one of "the boys". I'm leaning more towards either George or Laurence at the moment.
And yes; I was slightly creeped out by Keith Allen last week, too. Amber's reaction of horrified embarrassment when he dropped his robe? Yeah, that about summed up how I felt, too - and that was without seeing anything I shouldn't have!
