Anyone else watching?
Thoughts?

I watched the first episode. Generally found it heartening as I'm on a diet and the underlying "good habits" are interesting. But... the black lady wasted so much food! Two bites of a cake, a few forkfuls of takeaway, a few few bites of burger and it was straight in the bin! I found that a bit shocking.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 04/03/2019 20:58

I’m habitually nosy,so it’s fascinating to watch
Margaret getting 9hr sleep,that’s epic
And packet crisps over 4 days, wow if I open them I eat them

ShabbyAbby · 04/03/2019 21:09

I know I wish my unconscious habits were healthy ones!

Eating two bites of a burger and then binning it sounds a bit disordered-eating to me ?

Either you are hungry, and eat the burger

Or you are not, then you leave the burger

I can understand being full 3/4 way through a big burger (that happens to me Grin)

But 2-bites?!

EssentialHummus · 04/03/2019 21:19

baby the Dr said that she was very sensitive basically - both for feeling hungry (could go from fine to starving in seconds) and then in feeling full. Which is great, but don't chuck your leftovers!

thenightsky · 05/03/2019 16:06

I've just caught up with this. Interesting. I don't see how the calories add up though. One of them (think it was Margaret) was told she ate under 1,500 calories in a day. But I eat 1,200 a day and its a hell of a lot less, not just 300 less!

She had carbonara for lunch which 900 calories. Then she had a strawberry milkshake. Then she had a big plate of rice and meat stew for dinner. And then she admitted she enjoyed late night snacks! Come on, that's not 1,500 surely?

I've had no breakfast, beans on toast for lunch and a piece of fish with veg for dinner. Plus 4 cups of tea. And that was 1,000 according to my calculator app.

Deathraystare · 06/03/2019 14:42

I get so cross! I know I should eat much less and what human being gets through some crisps in four days - more like one!

Also when they go on about how 8 hours plus sleep helps. Yes it might well but what about people who can't do 8 hours. I am up every two hours with my bladder! I would love to be able to sleep through!

thenightsky · 06/03/2019 14:44

Yes indeed. One woman had 9 hours solid sleep a night! I'm up every 3 with my bladder.

Topseyt · 06/03/2019 14:51

I have a DD with anorexia nervosa. I recognise traits of her in some of these people.

I don't think they are admirable, personally.

I am the polar opposite to my DD. She needs to gain weight (and is, slowly), and I need to lose it. They are difficult problems to tackle.

ahtellthee · 06/03/2019 14:54

Oooihhh have recorded and set to watch.

Deathraystare · 07/03/2019 19:13

the nightsky - Then I shall think of you tonight when I make one of my many journeys to the loo!!!

managerofchaos · 07/03/2019 23:19

Nothing to do with the eating thing although god knows I could stand to lose a stone or three more to do with your bladders
Have you had investigation s?
My mum had this v v debilitating
Up and down to various appointments and medications that did not make a difference eventually had Botox last Feb it's been fantastic lasted till now she's due a repeat this month
She had an injection under anaesthesia to her bladder what a difference
Please ask your gps fir advice / referrals
Happy to discuss if you'd like more info
Now where's my big bag of crisps? Can't understand why I'm obese???

Deathraystare · 08/03/2019 12:14

Thanks for the botox info!

I did go to the Dr about it and they said about keeping a diary and then perhaps going to a specialist clinic. TBH It would probably take time if they didn't fob me off with "You are fat, what do you expect". Plus I was worried they would offer me that nasty mesh stuff.

It is normally only at night and getting out of bed is not good - hence wearing of pants and pads.

I may look into this.

Oblomov19 · 15/03/2019 11:33

I don't think any of the people could be described as healthy eating attitudes. 2 bites of something and then binning it is wasteful. A packet of crisps over 4 days is not normal.

I think all these people Have a very unhealthy attitude towards food, almost/practically eating disorders and yet this program is presenting them as the norm - this is what people should aspire to in order to be thin. I'm sorry I can't agree with that.

Maegeri · 15/03/2019 14:02

So I don't feel over or under weight and don't think about what I eat, but I definitely eat like these people do. It would take me 4 days to eat a large bag or crisps, it can take me a week to eat a bar of chocolate. More because I fancy a little snack rather than a concerted effort not to eat it all. This programme and thread has made me seriously think about my eating habits and I now wonder if I have some kind of eating disorder. I do get full really quickly and large amounts of food put me off eating. Should I be worried?

Drogosnextwife · 15/03/2019 14:15

I'm a childminder, today has been really busy and the kids have been pretty tough going, especially one who is in a bit of a grumpy mood today, I think I'll join you OP. I need it!

Drogosnextwife · 15/03/2019 14:16

Damn it wrong thread, as you were people.

cuppycakey · 16/03/2019 17:16

I am glad I am not the only one questioning the maths on this programme.

Some of the people are clearly eating 3000+ calories a day and they are saying it's "only 2000" and that is what this 7 stone woman needs Confused

It looks like they set out to find the slim people really ate a lot less than they said, and when they found they really did eat huge amounts of calorific food and stayed slim (many of them) they just fudged the maths...

Poppy43 · 16/03/2019 18:17

Where can I find this programme? Tia x

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/03/2019 21:49

It’s on c4 demand

Just watching now

Fresta · 17/03/2019 08:47

A packet of crisps over 4 days is normal if it's a family sized/sharing bag. I could easily eat a family bag to myself but I don't because I know it's unhealthy. I would fill a small bowl and eat that amount so it would last me four days probably. Obviously, I would eat an individual packet in one go.

CSIblonde · 17/03/2019 21:40

I thought it was bordering on eating disorder territory with the two mouthfuls only thing. I did eat a huge amount when a size 8 in my twenties too like the other lady, but I seemed to burn it off, (desk job, no exercise, either) . No breakfast but constant snacks, chocolate, ice cream etc was my norm for years. Unfortunately once I hit 35 something changed & I put on 3stone.

Thewinterofdiscontent · 28/04/2021 22:41

Is the programme that’s on tonight a repeat?

I’m amazed that none of her friends have worked out she doesn’t actually eat that much of her fast food takeaways or snacks.

MissDollyMix · 29/04/2021 00:08

I’ve just been watching this on tv tonight. I do wonder how many of these women are going to hit 40 and suddenly find they can no longer eat whatever they want and not put on weight. Happened for me at about 36/37.... Also most of the diets were pretty unbalanced and unhealthy. I’d rather weigh a little bit more but eat a balanced diet.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 29/04/2021 13:07

@Thewinterofdiscontent yes, repeated. I vaguely remember watching it the first time it was on. Some interesting stuff about gut bacteria, I may look into trying some keffir yoghurt and saurkraut to see if I suddenly get slim Grin The lady who was full on two bites was a bit, err, unusual.... The footage of her being carried about on peoples backs implies she could be a bit hard work.... Grin
