So not one of the fugitives escaped capture and made it to the end on the finale tonight - absolutely not their fault. A central Birmingham extraction point surrounded by CCTV?!?, what chance did they have navigating that minefield? Not sure I will bother watching next time

OP posts:
mrsed1987 · 14/02/2019 22:46

completely agree. I was so disappointed.

LazyLizzy · 14/02/2019 22:48

Agree Limit pile of shite! First and last time watching it, so fixed.
They had no chanceAngry

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 14/02/2019 22:48

Agreed.
So disappointing.

Arnoldillo · 14/02/2019 22:49

Totally agree on all points. All they did was go to the centre of Birmingham and hang around there then run after them when they saw them. Ffs.

LimitIsUp · 14/02/2019 22:53

Stupid producers - big mistake. What a hollow victory for the Hunters

OP posts:
RubyRed85 · 14/02/2019 22:54

I agree. They didn't stand a chance. Won't be watching again - it all seemed too fixed / staged this series.

NeverTalksToStrangers · 14/02/2019 22:54

Poor sods had no chance. Felt so sorry for the one at the end running up through that car park.

C0untDucku1a · 14/02/2019 22:55

Im cross about this too. The fugitives caught in the final minutes were robbed.

MancaroniCheese · 14/02/2019 22:58

I agree, so unfair when they had got so close.

MancaroniCheese · 14/02/2019 22:59

It felt like a set up with the note pad as well - unlikely to forget Birmingham so surely no need to write it down?

LimitIsUp · 14/02/2019 23:05

Exactly - why would you write that down? All seems somewhat bizarre.

And with all other extraction points in previous series, even when they knew the rough vicinity of the extraction point there were enough options for a boat etc to dock in different locations to give the fugitives a fair chance.

Frankly in a built up city centre like Birmingham where is a helicopter going to land other than on top of a large multi storey car park? There really was only one viable extraction point. The hunters could have just avoided all the charade of a choreographed chase and just set up camp on the roof of the multi storey and waited

Proper cross.

I am thinking I am a bit over invested Grin

OP posts:
Arnoldillo · 14/02/2019 23:15

If you are over invested then so am I!

Agree about the writing it down thing. Ffs he's just spent weeks working towards that point. It's not like he would have woke up the next day and thought "ooh where do I need to be again? I've forgotten. Was it Peterborough?"

I loved those brothers. They just seemed so lost a lot of the time. I wanted to scoop them up and hug them.

JeezYouLoon · 14/02/2019 23:30

Totally crap, the fugitives never stood a chance.

Gutted one of the brothers didn't make it, hollow victory for the hunters Angry

JumpOrBePushed · 14/02/2019 23:52

Agree, not impressed. I felt so sorry for them getting caught running through the car park.

And that notebook! It’s so daft that I’m questioning whether it was actually the production crew who wrote that “1pm Birm”.

Plus if they were going to give an extraction point in a city, they could at least have picked a city with a navigable river so that the helicopter on a roof option was less obvious.

Discobabe98 · 15/02/2019 00:00

So frustrating Angry and the fact Frank actually did make it up to the top but the helicopter hadn’t landed. He had no where to run to and was totally cornered, it felt very unfair

BornInAThunderstorm · 15/02/2019 00:09

Aargh yes I was actually shouting at the TV and Frank had done so well to get so far.

It was the same with the start, the contestants got off the boat and the hunters immediately zoned in. In earlier series the fugitives at least had a little head start

JumpOrBePushed · 15/02/2019 00:20

I had a look at the Hunted Facebook page and there’s loads of angry comments on there about the ending.

SachaStark · 15/02/2019 00:20

Agree with everybody here, the odds are far too stacked against the fugitives in later seasons, it's not fun anymore. There are too many rules they have to follow designed to make it much easier for the hunters: for example, they are told that they MUST make contact with immediate family during the process (hence why they all "just have to" arrange to meet with spouse/parents during the contest... despite the fact that it's a grand total of three weeks long).

Also agree that producers had him write down the info/planted it.

yearinyearout · 15/02/2019 07:15

Massine let down, I think the producers have shot themselves in the foot there. Probably thought the public would enjoy the change by setting it up so contestants couldn't possibly win (huge fix) but actually everyone is totally pissed off about it.

Mrsemcgregor · 15/02/2019 08:18

Very stupid mistake by production. What audience wouldnt want to see those two lads who had recently lost their mum win?

BlessedBeTheFruitCake · 15/02/2019 08:26

So disappointed, seemed so unfair that they were in the carpark with nowhere to hide until the helicopter landed. They were like sitting ducks.

YellowLilies · 15/02/2019 10:05

I agree. Why did the producers think this would be good viewing tv? Hmm
Central Birmingham was a huge mistake.

It's such a fix anyway, if they didn't have that phone call to find the location then they'd probably not have been found.

And if that guys bike hadn't got a puncture then the hunters wouldn't have got the notepad with the extraction details on (As if you'd write that down unless told to...) and they'd be screwed again.

Blobby10 · 15/02/2019 10:28

Haven't watched this series all through for the very reasons listed by PP's but have seen bits of each episode until it got too farcical even for me!. The first series was great - only the really dumb contestants got caught - those who used their brains managed to last it out.

I really don't like the language that the Hunters use, especially the gloating, when capturing people. Its unnecessary and diminishes their 'achievements'. The increasing numbers of rules they are putting in place make a mockery of the whole premise. But I presume that they can't have too many people 'escaping' or it makes a mockery of GCHQ and the Big Brother CCTV world we are now living in, supposedly to make us all 'safer'!!

Agreed. And there would have been very few routes to the top of the car park, making capture even more certain. It seemed a nonsense that so many enquiries were made by the Hunters at HQ and on foot as to where a helicopter might land in the centre of Birmingham - surely one call to somebody in the know (?local police station or a helicopter related organisation) would have provided them with the answer.

MissionItsPossible · 15/02/2019 13:59

Do you know, I watched the first episode and it was my first time ever watching it. I did mean to continue but just didn't but I did end up catching the last episode. Once it was over I said "I'm really glad I didn't invest in this after all because I'd have been so disappointed watching that".
