I love this programme - total fantasy!

Phil and Kirsty are fab. Sooooo camp and lovely

Nearly all the house-hunters are annoying twats with too much money. And yes I watch the daytime repeats when I can!

themoon66 · 04/07/2007 20:53

I know the expensive house the doctors bought, just round the corner from my mother's. It's lovely; Queen Anne with bags of land. However, the previous owners were clearly a few slices short of the full loaf as it was originally on at £1m...

Downside is it's in Dronfield and the most expensive house for miles around.

It was more like a hotel than a house though. I never thought I'd say it but it's probably a bit too big.
where I live £750,000 would buy you a very ordinary sized three-bed Victorian house. I need to move up north.

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 21:16

I didn't like the house the doctors bought, either.

Too big.

And not enough bathrooms.

edam · 04/07/2007 21:17

It's a gorgeous house. Every time I go past it, I dream... but then I wake up and realise I do not want to live in Dronfield.

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 21:18

When I dream my dream house, it's nothing like that.

Horses for courses.

But even if I had a million to spend, it wouldn't be that.

Edam - the house the doctors currently lived in was Nether Edge too. NE had changed loads!

I could have found them both much better hourses for their cash, I am sure. Neither in the best areas. In rush hour it would take longer than 20 minutes to get from Dronfield (big house) to the hospitals. And why they bothered with Matlock I have no idea - miles and miles away!!!

expatinscotland - you are right. If it was a hot area it would have been snapped up and not left unlived in for 10 years. Norton is not really a hot area IMO. It's okay, but not hot IYSWIM.

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 21:19

The climber lady was beautiful. Indeed, very lovely skin.

Much more laid back, too.

Hulababy · 04/07/2007 21:21

Matlock to Sheffield would not be 45 mins in rush hour either.

I do over an hour now, the opposite direction to Matlock, and manage it fine. Not great but as PT managable. But I would never consider moving as far away as Matlock from Sheffield, not for that commute. Wrong side of Sheffield to have to come in on in rush hour definitely.

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 21:21

I agree, it's fine for PT, but I did it day in/day out and it sucked.

edam · 04/07/2007 21:23

It must have done, Hula, when I were a lass, NE was v. working class, with a high proportion of newly-arrived very poor Pakistani families and also a lot of drug addicts. Made for an uneasy mix. Lovely houses, though, had obviously been a desirable place once.

at idea that Dronfield is 20 minutes from Sheffield, is that really what K&P claimed?

edam · 04/07/2007 21:24

Which hospitals do they work for?

expatinscotland · 04/07/2007 21:24

Whichever ones they are, they either pay absolute sheds full of money, or those two were born to it.

He was a GP half way between sheffield and where they are now. I think she was a consultant psychiatrist at the main sheffield hospital.

New GP contract explains how they had the budget they had

Hulababy · 04/07/2007 21:28

Didn't say. She was a consultant and he was a GP wasn't he? Even if most central Dronfield still further away than 20 minutes like they claimed!

NE has a lot of newer and updated properties now edam. The old hospital is now a new housing complex, like a gated estate really with own gym and pool. Has retained a lot of old buildings for the town houses and apartments, and then added other larger houses in same style.

Still a mixed bag of residents but a more clear divide TBH. Worst part is the schools round there. Not a good catchment for most of NE, esp secondary IIRR. If DD was in state school I wouldn't consider it, but we did look at the old hospital site. The show town house was fantastic!

LIZS · 04/07/2007 21:28

It'll reshow on More4.

@ drs' house. Would cost 1.25m minimum down here and all that land ...

Hulababy · 04/07/2007 21:29

Lizs - in Sheffield itself it would be much dearer.
