I don't mind that Noel is gone, but I was a bit surprised

I want Nick to win.

I think Anne was right to rule herself out, she knew she couldn't win so why put herself through that, for someone with autism sensory overload can be hugely distressing, I have huge admiration for her, most of us can adapt to different situations quite quickly, for a lot of people with autism they can't, they need a lot of time and preparation and it can cause huge anxiety which makes some things so much harder to process.

Some of the posts on here just show how autism is not considered a disability, it's invisible, if you can't see it it can't be real so therefore it's ok to ridicule them, well do you know what, it bloody well isn't.

woodhill · 01/12/2018 14:32

I did think it would be nice to have some more intellectual challenges though like a pub quiz so that it was not just physical in the games last night.

Petalflowers · 01/12/2018 14:45

I agree, woodhill, especially as they knew they were having a brainbox I the camp. Maybe they could had a jungle quiz night as part of The Immunity Games.

HannahnotAgnes · 01/12/2018 14:45

Totally agree @areyoubeingserviced

HannahnotAgnes · 01/12/2018 14:46

That would be a great idea @Petalflowers

Petalflowers · 01/12/2018 14:47

Are you - I agree also.

BishopBrennansArse · 01/12/2018 15:20

Quite frankly the car alarm bird would have me losing it without anything else so I have so much sympathy for Anne.

AppleKatie · 01/12/2018 15:45

I also think some kind of jungle pub quiz night would have been great. Maybe not a team game as her team would be so advantaged as to make the rest of the competition mute but I’m sure they could of come up with a way of doing it that would have been entertaining to watch.

I’m sure they have had quizzes in previous series? Seems weird to not have had one- esp as the Chase is an itv show.

AppleKatie · 01/12/2018 15:45

Could have

😳

Hofuckingho · 01/12/2018 16:02

I'd like Nick to win. For me he's coming across really well. I've gone of Harry with all his moaning and Anne is not really playing the game.

I also like Fleur and John.

Bearbehind · 01/12/2018 17:09

Some of the posts on here just show how autism is not considered a disability, it's invisible, if you can't see it it can't be real so therefore it's ok to ridicule them, well do you know what, it bloody well isn't.

But her ruling herself out of the trial last night was nothing to do with her autism.

She’s been ruled out of loads of trials on medical grounds but was deemed fit to do last night’s.

She just couldn’t be bothered trying to do it - which begs the question why should she get paid to be in a show that she’s not participating in fully.

AppleKatie · 01/12/2018 17:38

It had everything to do with her autism. She took a totally logical decision (she definitely wouldn't have won) failing to take into account the social 'norm' of 'have a go' even though you know you will lose!

BishopBrennansArse · 01/12/2018 17:41

@Bearbehind it had EVERYTHING to do with it!

Ffs the ignorance

Bearbehind · 01/12/2018 17:47

I disagree - she saw it was a ‘fitness’ challenge and bowed out.

AppleKatie · 01/12/2018 17:56

EXACTLY! if you think about it from her POV of course she didn’t do it!

A test designed to make her lose and feel doubly uncomfortable. All tasks are sold as optional. Why would you?

Well you and I probably would because we value and understand team work, camaraderie and public perception and the task itself wouldn’t make us feel overly anxious.

Therin lies the difference.

Bearbehind · 01/12/2018 18:02

Which goes back to my point about why is she in there.

If she’s medically unfit to do half the challenges and not prepared to do most of the rest to completion - why is she on the show?

AppleKatie · 01/12/2018 18:05

Because she’s been really entertaining and interesting to watch the rest of the time? And not everyone has to do everything?

Oh and because they booked her so obviously wanted her?

BishopBrennansArse · 01/12/2018 18:06

No, she clearly said "I don't think we will be alone in there", it was the bugs and I'd guess the ensuing sensory issues alongside that which caused a problem.

In other challenges where she has had the chance to process what is expected she has been able to do them, it's the challenge being launched on her at the last minute that seems to be an issue.

Having bugs raining down on me I wouldn't flinch but I couldn't do anything here I'd have my face underwater or have running liquid on my face, again for sensory issues.

There are plenty of things Anne could do but unfortunately the producers haven't been imaginative and/or given Anne space to process what she is being asked to do.

I'm really heartened by the camp mates' attitude - it's a shame the viewers can't take their lead.

BishopBrennansArse · 01/12/2018 18:07

Oh and other celebs have had to avoid challenges due to medical reasons in previous years, they didn't get it in the neck like this.

As others have also said some challenges Anne has been excluded from on medical reasons other than her autism.

Bearbehind · 01/12/2018 18:09

Because she’s been really entertaining and interesting to watch the rest of the time?

Really - We’re clearly watching different shows so I’ll leave it there.

Quartz2208 · 01/12/2018 18:11

I think Anne's thinking is very black and white. You saw that in the challenges she has done she weighs it up and does an assessment.

Last night she weighed it up - she realised that she was neither going to win immunity or win so she decided not to try and let the others have a go. But undoubtedly if she needed to for part of the team she would have done. But the desire to do something simply to win was not there. And what is wrong with that

And that is why I think she went on and its important she did - the fact that they have made her one of the team and feel that she would go to bat for them is very important

As for Nick I really dont understand it. For me I think he is holding in a lot of his personalty

AppleKatie · 01/12/2018 18:13

Agreed Quart

I assumed several posts back that bear was trolling us (or else stuck in some rigid thought patterns of her own...) but I think the debate is an important one to have in public spaces so I’ve bitten. It’s too easy for people to dismiss hidden disabilities.

bringbacksideburns · 01/12/2018 18:22

I'm not buying the Nick Knowles good guy routine. Isn't he supposed to be quite unpleasant in real life? The pillow, the foregoing the meal too quickly without putting it to a vote and the determination to win immunity by drinking most of those drinks when he had two other people in his team make me think he is determined to win. But he won't. Hes putting on an act.

I like all the girls. Particularly Emily.

I'm gutted Noel's gone when Malluque is still in there and James. Whatever your opinion of him he was very entertaining and I thought very funny when he just tipped his drink over him.i also liked him and Harry together.

exLtEveDallas · 01/12/2018 18:34

As a counter to the 'Nick is a git irl' posts, I met him during a homes for heroes build some years ago and he was fine - got on well with the squaddies, mucked in, was patient and interested in people, had the piss taken out of him, royally by a building team (and took it on the chin) and chucked quite a bit of his own cash towards something personal for the intended recipient (that had nothing to do with the build). So whilst I can imagine him having some off moments (as we all do), I don't think he's a bad guy.

Hofuckingho · 01/12/2018 18:36

Because she’s been really entertaining and interesting to watch the rest of the time?

I've nothing against Anne but I've not found her in the least bit entertaining.
