Been waiting for this, we haven't been able to find a download of it anywhere.

I don't think he was referring to having bought the hoodies but paying to get the words printed on them.

I like him. He is meant to kinda act as the audience within the narrative I think? A difficult thing to write and to play. I think people dislike him because he disrupts the supposed narrative within the universe of the show that the pearsons were a "perfect" family - according to the pearsons - whereas Toby (as the audience is meant to be doing) is like "well... Not really. Mum could be passive aggressive and a bit controlling, dad was an addict and a bit 'Disney dad', Randall's neurotic, Kevin's somewhat narcissistic/insecure, and Kate's weight issues seem to stem from insecurity too"

This Is Us is the most interesting prog I've ever watched. So many storylines to keep track of (the triplets as children, as young adults, "present day", plus their parents growing up), yet it's so well written it just works.
Graphista I love that theory Smile

Ah I think that's a good take on Toby too. I also thought he seemed too good to be true but I think he's providing that outside perspective. He's a bit 2D at the moment though. Hopefully we will get to know his story in the next season.

We're starting to learn more about him - like his reaction to telling his devout Catholic mother he was moving in with gf and then potentially having to tell her said gf/fiancée pregnant out of wedlock.

I hope we learn more about him too, but the focus is very much on the pearsons. We don't know much about Miguel, Beth or Sophie either.

Ohhhhh Kevin what are you doing?! Sad

As a teen I'd have given him such a bollocking for behaving like that to the college coach!

Poor Kevin. I do feel sorry for him with his knee injury as a teenager and all Dreams crashes

Least he now knows he needs help. Hopefully he will get it

Poor Kate as well :( and Toby

Tho Kate was always chubby as a child - wonder what made her grow so big - she isn’t huge as a teenager

So glad I found this thread, I absolutely love this show. I think it's incredibly realistic look at relationships and family. I am a couple of episodes ahead of More4 because I'm impatient and this season has now definitely surpassed season 1 for me!

Poor, poor Kevin. He seemed so desperate in that final scene. Brilliant acting all round, this is the best thing on TV IMO.

So sorry for Kate and Toby.

Hope kevin gets the help he needs but I think it may take a while till he properly reaches that point.

I am really starting to get pissed off with them dragging out the explanation for the dads death! We all know he died but the build up is interminable. Plus I think this season is really bloody depressing! I really loved it when it started but I’m getting a bit fed up with it now. Hoping it’ll turn itself around.

You're about 6 episodes away from finding out...

6?! That’s ridiculous!

Thought we were watching last weeks at first!

So heartbroken for Kate. Loving Toby stepping up for her.

And now I'm crying over onions that aren't even in my house! Sad

We still don't know the root cause of Kate's dysfunctional relationship with her mother (is mum just too much to live up to?) and why Kate over eats.

They all 'over' something.

Kate overeats
Randall overthinks
Kevin overdoes 'I'm fine' ? Always upbeat?

I really wish they hadn't done the stupid 'slips in the bath causing miscarriage' storyline. Miscarriage is so much more pedestrian and irrational than that. It dramatises something that is dramatic enough in a quiet, unexplainable kind of way. I know it's a drama but still.

Report
Unihorn · 30/08/2018 10:27

I'm not sure it was indicating the slip caused the miscarriage, I assumed she felt a pain or something and slipped as a result.

I love this show, really annoyed that my tv didn't record a few eps.

Felt really sad for Kevin this week, surely it was obvious , glazed eyes, sweating profusely, that he was either on drugs? Charlotte just wanted to shag him, and her being a doctor should have realised that he was out of control.

Poor Kate, I liked the flashbacks of teen Kate, and I said same thing to dh, she wasn't an overly big girl, I too wonder what happened, maybe mum, for her to comfort eat to being morbidly obese.

I missed the foster caring story. liked the judge who spoke to Randall's dad.

Guess no 3 next episode

Shame Kate lost her baby :(

And yes we need to find out how /why dad died

Waaah - tissues needed, again.

Report
MadisonAvenue · 06/09/2018 15:04

VanGogh needed here too!

I'm wondering if Kate's obesity is due in someway to Jack's death? Feelings of guilt? Maybe things will be clearer when we see how or why he died Confused
Same with Kevin's addiction.

What a great episode - loved it but cried loads. Glad Kevin got arrested rather than getting into an accident & hope this means he gets some help now.
