Do you think he did it?

I am very suspicious of a man who would take on an alcoholic and the ration her alcohol. It's very controlling. And he is so odd.

Yes good point Georgie!

The poor woman I don’t agree with them showing the photo, even if it was blurred. Suicide is so difficult for families.

purpleme12 · 23/05/2018 20:40

But then him saying I could outrun you if I wanted to also fits in with his 'odd' personality for want of a better word

Metoodear · 23/05/2018 20:45

Being odd is not a crime this reminds me of that landlord guy who everyone thought killed that girl because he was odd

Your shipman types often arouse no eyebrows

We have a pedantic guylike this at work he used to be an accountant so he’s very exact when our work place is very relaxed he even weres a suite lol 😂 you don’t need a suit we’re I work

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 23/05/2018 20:46

He did have a solicitor she was on film.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 23/05/2018 20:47

So? Odd or not, they can’t have him running off whilst under arrest. Being odd doesn’t allow you to be treated differently, most people arrested for attempted murder will be cuffed.

Metoodear · 23/05/2018 20:47

Ffs why dose he have to have SN some people are just odd nd that’s fucking ok 👌🏿

It’s not sn

purpleme12 · 23/05/2018 20:50

I know, I don't think he was serious about running off. I wasn't commenting about whether or not he should have been in handcuffs

purpleme12 · 23/05/2018 20:50

I didn't get the impression it was autism or anything either to be honest

Ginorchoc · 23/05/2018 20:50

Can you imagine if he did run and the officer said I thought he wasn’t serious because he is a bit ‘odd’.. The risk has to be contained, what some offices do is put a coat over the cuffs to lesson the embarrassment and remove the coat when in the car.

I’ve been head butted in custody by a client who had been perfectly fine and joking until he was asked something he didn’t like, it was something like allergies nothing offensive and then he kicked off, head butted me, injured a doctor and took five officers (which is the safety procedure) to secure him.

People are unpredictable and they can’t take a risk, especially in a vehicle.

Ginorchoc · 23/05/2018 20:52

I hope he had some support from the production company when it was broadcast.

Soundsgood · 24/05/2018 07:26

But have a listen to our cute, laughing kiddies on my telephone - see how normal we are... we wouldn't be bad

I think that clip was a bit akward! I dont think she thought her DH would be so horrible sounding.

RainbowFairiesHaveNoPlot · 24/05/2018 09:28

Incidentally to the comment about the dog looking like it hated him... my own dog (Same breed) pulled that exact same facial expression when I was leaving the house just now. Sighthounds do a corking line in hard done by resting bitch face!

@ Ginorchoc

I can't understand what that little icon is you've posted in relation to 'proving' there was a solicitor present.

Guidance on the use of handcuffs.

I get your police 'thing' but don't cross into being an apologist - we can all find life experience examples etc etc which would pretty much mean we lock every weirdo up forever.

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 24/05/2018 13:08

Are you being deliberately awkward?

Ginorchoc · 24/05/2018 14:06

Futuristic although the guide you posted is out of date, which section do you believe they posted!

Icon, honestly, funny.

Who said lock every weirdo up? Half the country would be inside, we all have our little bit of oddness. Usually not sleep under by the same circumstances, still...

Ginorchoc · 24/05/2018 14:06

Although I find the term weirdo not pleasant.

Ginorchoc · 24/05/2018 14:08

*posted should be breached

melodybirds · 24/05/2018 15:21

I still don't know. Very very weird episode it scared me. There was one part where he said I could have done it and smiled. I dunno either way.

purpleme12 · 24/05/2018 15:23

I agree that was strange at the end when he said I could have done it

melodybirds · 25/05/2018 06:06

Also they how he said he controls his dog and the way the dog was waiting for treats was like him controlling Sharon and her waiting for another sip. The dog part I swear he waa openly talking about their relationship and getting a quick from it.

larrygrylls · 25/05/2018 06:41

That was a really interesting episode.

What I find really odd about the series is whether people consent to being filmed. I would assume not? If not, why is public humiliation allowed in this day and age? I thought we punished through the courts and prison, not a modern equivalent of the stocks.

Yes, it was a highly dysfunctional relationship but she might have been even worse without him. He was an extremely odd man (although it was impressive he could run 15 miles a day despite being an alcoholic!). To me he came across as someone in need of support and treatment himself, although he was (and is) clearly controlling and impossible to live with.

Finally, what I found really sad and disturbing is how, when police visited him to tell him he was no longer under suspicion, there was no apology. Handcuffed, locked up for 36 hours despite his innocence and not even a ‘sorry’...wtf?! Now he has also had to move.

I hope he gets a good solicitor and sues for max compensation.

peony2325 · 25/05/2018 18:09

It's very unlikely he would get compensation for the arrest and questioning. The police don't owe a duty of care in that sense to people they arrest as otherwise they would be completely unable to do their job for fear of having to pay compensation to any innocent person they questioned.

poca · 25/05/2018 19:08

Yes previously people have been pixelated out if the were later found to be innocent, not sure if that means he consented to them showing his face?

That's awful that the family didn't want the programme shown though, not sure how that can be allowed.

larrygrylls · 25/05/2018 19:22

Poca,

But even if you are guilty is it fair to film you against your will and broadcast it?

purpleme12 · 25/05/2018 19:53

They must give consent for it to be shown, the people in it, I would have thought
