Wanted one of the actors to give the poor mite some milk or something.

Watching it now
Out of order imo.

princesscc · 23/04/2007 22:25

Yes, I did. I thought it was completely unneccesary. In fact I had to turn the sound off because I was getting edgey.

Kelly1978 · 23/04/2007 22:31

it horrible, I'm now watching it. The baby has tears going down his/her cheeks. I don't know how the mother could do it. Earlier on, it looked like the baby was looking for the mother.

elasticbandstand · 23/04/2007 22:31

it was awful..

ValnBen · 23/04/2007 22:31

Hi ? yeah, there was a thread about it earlier tonight??

BBC complaint .

Please ignore my PC rant in between the more serious stuff

elasticbandstand · 23/04/2007 22:31

i was saying, put her over your shoulder, to the screen.

2shoes · 23/04/2007 22:34

what is it with ee and child cruelty at the moment.

thelittleElf · 23/04/2007 22:35

I was having tea with my mum, and we were both shouting at the telly!!! OMG, i wonder how many emails the BBC will receive tomorrow

pinkchampagne · 23/04/2007 22:35

It was awful.

belleofball · 23/04/2007 22:35

really distressing and unnecessary!

Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 22:38

It was horrid. (I really hated they sound of the crying baby used as an alrm clock on Big Brother. I convinced myself it was on a loop.) Why didn't the real life mother grab the baby off Jim?

bananabump · 23/04/2007 22:41

I missed it, whose baby was it supposed to be and why were they crying so much?

belleofball · 23/04/2007 22:44

dot and jim. dot found the baby in church grounds.cut along story short, kept it.
baby distressed coz they couldn't settle/get milk. jim losing it.

LadyTophamHatt · 23/04/2007 22:47

If just amazes me that any mother would let there child get so distressed for a bit a cash.

FFS..selfish wankers.

bananabump · 23/04/2007 22:47

Thanks belle. Sounds a bit far fetched! Silly reason to stress out a baby, wonder if they'll have loads of complaints?

I used to get distressed with the scenes of domestic violence with Mo and Trevor. I know these things go on but sometimes it was just so graphic for something lots of children watch.

Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 22:48

The mother has twins. Maybe she was feeding the other baby? This is in the mothers defence, not the BBC's

belleofball · 23/04/2007 22:51

I'm getting really angry at the content of eastenders lately.used to let my son watch it,but not now. there just seems to be more swearing getting in and inuendos all the time, the other day one of them said, and i qoute,"you didn't come out of her lady bottom did yer" DH and me were[shocked]shocked] The ratings war is getting out of hand.

islandofsodor · 23/04/2007 22:52

That is no excuse chocolateface. If the mother was chaperoning then she should ensure she is able to look after the baby on set at all times and be able to step in if necessary. If that is not possible another chaperone should have been employed whose job it is to ensure the baby's wellbeing at all times.

All children taking part in film, TV and theatre have to be strictly chaperoned.

belleofball · 23/04/2007 22:53

I think it's on too early.

Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 22:56

Sometimes My 8 year old comes downstairs again when I'm watching it, and I have to turn over quickly, which I find annoying.

UtterPigsty · 23/04/2007 22:56

dont watch it
its a pile of shit

Kelly1978 · 23/04/2007 23:02

regarding the mother has twins, I have twins, and I wouldn't have left my baby screaming like that, even if I was feeding the other. You tend to learn to look after both at once.

Chocolateface · 23/04/2007 23:09

I've never had twins. Obviously.

ValnBen · 24/04/2007 16:19

Just had this response from the BBC re my complaint email lastnight.

Thank you for your e-mail.

We apologise to viewers who were distressed by the scene featuring a crying baby
in the episode of EastEnders which transmitted 23/04/07.

The reason for including the scene was to illustrate the story of an elderly
couple as they tried to cope with caring for a young baby.

Please be assured that the baby's guardian was on stand-by throughout the
filming of the scene and was given complete freedom to step in if she felt the
baby was under undue stress. The baby was not made to cry for the scene, but
began crying before we started filming it. We in no way sought to cause distress
to the baby or to upset our viewers.

We are mindful of our viewers' sensibilities, however, and have decided to
remove the scene for the omnibus broadcast.

Please be assured that your feedback has been fully registered on our daily
audience log which is made available to the production team involved and senior
BBC management.

Thank you, once more, for taking the time to contact the BBC.

Regards

BBC Information

Well, at least they have taken things on board and removed it from the omnibus episode THANK GOD!!

Kelly1978 · 24/04/2007 16:20

That is good news, I am pleased about that. Well done to everyone who complained.
