Remember Anna Maxwell-Martin playing the heroine who's trying to negotiate her way through motherhood, school gate cliques etc? Diane Morgan playing her plucky new friend, and SAHD Paul Ready? Written by Graham and Helen Linehan, Sharon Horgan and Holly Walsh?

The pilot is being shown again on BBC2 on Monday at 10:00pm with the series to start next week, according to Radio Times.

I saw it advertised and really wasn't fussed, then I caught the end of last weeks episode and then discovered you could download them all - heaven!

Are we waiting till everyone's seen an episode before talking about it?

The one where the guy at the table was pretty much a twin of the guy on the toilet table was funny. I can't imagine wanting to be in 'the' clique so badly.

If anyone hasn't seen Poppy Shakespeare with AM-M then it's a must watch.

Do any of you watch Catastophe?

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 29/11/2017 12:45

Watching the fundraiser episode, it's excellent I can't stop laughing at the human cloakroom 😂😂

confusedandemployed · 29/11/2017 17:12

Just caught up with last night's episode...bloody hell Julia is such a doormat when it comes to her husband!

Still loving it mind. Absolutely howled at Amanda getting the hump with Liz getting the male attention.

InLoveWithLizML · 30/11/2017 00:13

OMG the human cloakroom!

You lus sangria being Spanish for red wine and shit!

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/11/2017 13:50

Those in laws would drive me insane And her hubby is useless tho tbh he’s. Away on a stag do. Course he isn’t going to come back

Who is the flower man? Giving her flower

Didn’t reliese the female friend was married and with dad - fixing the boiler man - assumed she was single

Nanny interview funny. Tho I do know several Nannies who do pay for childcare whether cm Nursery etc - rarely a nanny though

Nannies bf was from the inbetweeners wasn’t he

whiskyowl · 30/11/2017 16:25

"Those in laws would drive me insane "

My inlaws are exactly like that, only less together and more pompous and condescending. DH and I weed ourselves laughing because it was so utterly familiar.

The80sweregreat · 30/11/2017 16:26

Blondes, ( waves!) Liz, Julia's friend ( Diane Morgan plays her, red hair) is a single mum. The man fixing her boiler for her was her ex husband - although she still clearly loves him. He has a new girlfriend and living with her , but he does see and have their kids.
The flower man is just that , she has walked past him once or twice and he has given away the flowers left from his stall. v sweet gesture.
agree that Julia's husband is really not good for her and always away on jaunts and jollies. Ok for some!

The80sweregreat · 30/11/2017 16:29

my own parents were a bit like Julia's inlaws around that age so i found it funny too!

whiskyowl · 30/11/2017 16:38

I love the hideously irresponsible absentee husband character, too - the one who is always off on a stag do, or go-karting, and who is completely useless as a partner. Of course, by "love", I actually mean "love to loathe". Grin

The80sweregreat · 30/11/2017 17:33

Cheers whiskey!

Agree. I love/loathe how he does fuck all to help her but constantly tells her that he's behind her!

CherryChasingDotMuncher · 30/11/2017 21:23

I think they're trying to make a huge point with the useless husband as his wife seems blind to his faults

Blondeshavemorefun · 01/12/2017 16:29

@80’s - waves back. I somehow missed the ex with new family

He obv doesn’t think much of new woman if shagging ex wife

NamedyChangedy · 01/12/2017 17:57

I was a bit late to this but have just watched the series. Laughed lots. Several similarities with my life, unfortunately. I don't have a completely useless husband, but I can definitely empathise with the feeling of always letting someone down, no matter what I do.

Delatron · 01/12/2017 23:09

My DH says that; 'whatever you want to do I'll support you'
From the other side of the world/business do etc. Hes not quite as crap but made me laugh.

The80sweregreat · 02/12/2017 09:17

No. Liz was naughty going for ex when he has a new partner. Nothing happened , but shows how vulnerable she felt to consider it and encourage. Both as bad as each other.

whiskyowl · 02/12/2017 11:35

I liked the fact, though, that Liz ended up building bonds with the new GF - transitioning to be a new, modern family. I thought it was one of the more (gently) moving bits of the series.

The80sweregreat · 02/12/2017 15:06

Yes. Liz realised she had to move on. Her warning to new girlfriend was poignant though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/12/2017 21:55

STIll enjoying

Did notice that mum had sweaty armpits as she got into the car in last weeks episode

I need a life 😂

cod · 12/12/2017 21:56

God it’s soooooo bad. Worse than Miranda.

southeastdweller · 17/12/2017 10:58

Has anyone heard if it's coming back for a second series?

MaryPlain59 · 30/12/2017 13:38

Does anyone know where I could watch the original pilot episode of Motherland? I have just signed up to iplayer but it is no longer on there and I can't seem to find it on YouTube.
