Do you think Strictly should have same sex couples?

Just googling the gorgeous Susan Calman and apparently there's been a bit of a row saying as she's gay she should be allowed to dance with a woman. She's fine with dancing with a man though.
Just wondered how people felt though? Same sex couples, a good idea or just a bit try hard?

I think it's a good idea if that's what they want, but at the same time just because she's gay doesn't mean she should be forced to dance with a woman - she might want to dance with a man! But yeah I think it's definitely the right thing to do to allow same sex couples if that's what a contestant wants

DangerMouse17 · 09/09/2017 20:28

It's not a dating service, it's an entertainment show. Why does EVERYTHING need to be focussed on someone's sexual preference.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 09/09/2017 20:29

just because she's gay doesn't mean she should be forced to dance with a woman
This

woodhill · 09/09/2017 20:30

Leave it as it is

EastMidsGPs · 09/09/2017 20:30

No.
But if that's a rule than Rev Richard should dance with a man.
Oddly no one on Twitter has said that to him ...
But yes, Susan got real grief over it the other day

museumum · 09/09/2017 20:30

Nah. Surely lots of male dancers are gay but still dance with women. It's not (supposed to be) about sex.

CoolCarrie · 09/09/2017 20:32

Spot on DangerMouse

DamnDeDoubtanceIsSpartacus · 09/09/2017 20:32

Will Young didn't dance with a man.

Why should you have a dance partner that matches your sexual preference? They are dancing, not dating.

PortiaCastis · 09/09/2017 20:33

Nah let well alone though it wouldn't bother me much but think it would bother the Strictly viewing voters a lot

AllPowerfulLizardPerson · 09/09/2017 20:33

Unless there's an after-dark sexually explicit version that's passed me by, this is about dance couples, not sex partners.

Gizlotsmum · 09/09/2017 20:33

Didn't will young pull out last year because of all the comments saying he was lying to himself by dancing with a woman?

ShatnersBassoon · 09/09/2017 20:33

If a contestant or professional wanted it, then yes. Not just to say 'lesbians should dance with other women, really' though, because that makes no sense at all. A lesbian woman is, believe it or not, allowed to touch and enjoy the company of men.

Riversleep · 09/09/2017 20:34

No, its about dancing, not sex. Craig and Bruno are both gay. They dance with women. Why weren't they given grief? This whole thing started because that irritating one from Eggheads decided to make a big deal about not being allowed on Strictly. But yes, how come it's OK to give Susan Calman grief but not Richard Coles?

Shockers · 09/09/2017 20:34

It's just dancing.

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 09/09/2017 20:35

I thought Will Young pulled out because Len Goodman told him to put up and shut up?!

Gizlotsmum · 09/09/2017 20:36

Ah possibly Rita...

MaisyPops · 09/09/2017 20:36

It's dance, not sex.

Lots of dancers are men. Many will be gay. Thry dance with women.
It's not going to turn them.

MaggieSimpson44 · 09/09/2017 21:42

I think this is her point actually, she's been annoyed that she had so much grief but none of the boys has.
Personally I'd find it a bit cringeworthy if there was only one same sex couple in the contest.

Judge Rinder managed perfectly well and I'm sure there have been other LGBT contestants that haven't had the flack Susan Calman has got. First lesbian though?

user1499786242 · 09/09/2017 22:24

Ffs stop the world I wanna get off

dudsville · 09/09/2017 22:26

I'd like to see both/all Two straight men, two straight women, gay men, lesbians, heterosexual pairings. Why not?

MumBod · 09/09/2017 22:27

She was so delighted to be teamed with Kevin.

Just leave her alone, ffs. It's a joyful entertainment show. Why do people always have to find a way to piss on each other's chips?

Whatshouldmyusernamebe · 09/09/2017 22:29

Will Young had a strop didn't he.

teaandakitkat · 09/09/2017 22:31

It's a light entertainment tv show ffs. People trying to use it to force an agenda of some kind really piss me off.

Hulder · 09/09/2017 22:37

Will Young didn't dance with a man - and got no grief for it.
Neither did Judge Rinder, Rev RIchard Coles, Scott Mills, Julian Clary, Russell Grant or Julien MacDonald.

But suddenly a lesbian is on and she gets masses of grief for it Hmm
