My wee boy is desparate to see this, do all you fans think it would be ok or is it a little scary.
He likes teenage turtles and cartoons which have a gentle scary thing going on. Mild peril I think they call it
In fact a typical boy.

we made a BIG mistake letting dd, 3, watch dr who. we thought it would be fun to watch it together, and she seemd to enjoy the episode (ages ago) with the bloke with numbers all over him.

we have never heard the end of it. whenevr she's feeling scared she talks about him and is worried that he might not be alright. it's much scarier than the old dr who's

nikkie · 01/04/2007 21:50

I think that was one of the scsarier ones (though not a 12 dvd don't get the ratings for Dr who at all)

Mossie · 01/04/2007 21:51

Impossible Planet / The Satan Pit scared the living crap out of me.

I'm nearly 30.

It's hard to tell beforehand though of course!

grannyquackersleetlefuffychick · 01/04/2007 22:02

it's a shame because i love them and can't watch them

NuttyMuffins · 01/04/2007 22:03

My ds is 4.3 and watches Dr Who and watched the last series too, he loves it.

nikkie · 01/04/2007 22:07

grannyquackers just watch them when she is in bed!

emkana · 01/04/2007 22:12

I'm 100 % behind Greensleeves.

I cannot believe that you'd let children this young watch this kind of thing. And just because they don't show fear doesn't mean it's appropriate viewing for them FFS!

I find that really, truly shocking.

OH didn't realise it was so graphic.

Drinking blood with straw and horrid deaths.
Def wont be letting him see this.
Would be to scary for me for a start(I find the numbertaker from Numberjacks bad enough)
Thanks everyone.

My ds 3.5 is v confident and outgoing (can't remember who mentioned that) I wouldn't let watch as it's too much.

Fubsychicksnbunnies · 02/04/2007 11:26

I thought it was a lot scarier than "old school" Dr Who, so didnt let DD see it for ages.

But lots of her friends at school had watched it, and she asked if she could. So I let her watch the Madame de Pompadour episode from the last series, as it was quite ,ild, no one vapourised etc.

So she cried because the Doctor didnt get back to see her before she died!

cant win.

DDs nearly 6 now and loves Dr Who. Also dleights in spotting Jack Barrowman who seems to be on every other tv prog at the moment. But I did have to try to explain what a MRI did on Saturday

thePA · 02/04/2007 13:28

There is a new Dr Who cartoon starting today at 5pm on BBC1, aimed at children so maybe the solution?

Clary · 02/04/2007 13:47

We watch it as a family. DS1 7, DD5, DS2 almost 4. So shoot me

(with the gun from my pirate party stickers lolol)

Really, I think it's just cartoon violence to them. DS1 is most scared. But it is very much down to the child. Doubt if DS1 would have watched it at 3.

Clary · 02/04/2007 13:48

That post sounds cavalier. What I mean is that DS1 is the only one who's scared, and then not really very. He's quite a sensitive soul tho.

Babyramone · 02/04/2007 15:05

cartoon sounds like might be ok. will tape and see.
thanks

DD watches it, she loves Dr Who and it doesn't scare her or give her nightmares. However she watches it because she has two older DSs, if she was the one and only we'd probably save it to watch later in the evening. In other words I wouldn't go out of my way to put a 3 yr old in front of it, but I don't think it's the end of the world if they do see it.

I was chasing the DCs around the house with a straw yesterday, they seemed to find it quite funny at the time

puddle · 02/04/2007 15:43

How does a three year old get 'desperate' to see Dr who anyway? How do they know it's on?

ScottishThistle · 02/04/2007 15:47

Far too young, way too grown up & scarey!

Saying that I can't understand why anyone would watch it anyway!

Clary · 02/04/2007 16:00

David tennant is why.

Works for me anyway

ProfYaffle · 02/04/2007 16:07

We let dd1 watch it on Saturday, she's not quite 3 yet! As other posters have said she didn't really understand it, thought the Rhino things were quite amusing and treated the whole thing as game. tbh I think a slightly older child with more understanding of the plot would find it more scary.

Overrun · 02/04/2007 16:13

I don't think it is suitable for that age range, but I suppose every child is different. My 4 year old would be very scared by this.

Babyramone · 02/04/2007 23:30

Puddle wondered this myself. He goes to nursery and I think may of heard others talking about it. When the ad for it came on he got all excited and said "Is that dr who I love that"
I remember loving as child but was probably older. Plus it was on at teatime I think so more family style viewing.
I'm not going to let him see as think probably too young at present.

My two were gutted when they I realised Toerchwood wasn't for kids. This was after they watched the first episode OOPS!
