I've binge-watched the whole series Blush
Bit of a guilty pleasure.
I really enjoyed the gloss and glamour of how a gazillionaire's lifestyle at the Riviera might look like Grin

The plot?
Quite interesting, but I am a bit frustrated by the usual cliffhanging ending.
I wish TV makers could wrap things up.

I may have to start watching this.

PacificDogwod · 21/06/2017 07:40

Oh do, it's good fun.
Although, I have to warn you, it will make you covet mansions with swimming pools, super yachts and wafting around in silk caftans while plotting dastardly deeds Grin

Where is it on?

PacificDogwod · 21/06/2017 07:42

Sky Atlantic - I watched it as a box set.

Been watching and up to episode 7

Really love it and agree with you about the glamorous lifestyle! Spotted a Roland Mouret dress in the first episode and it's only £689 in the sale Blush

Also was nearly sick when the girl took the chip out of herself

Bloomed · 21/06/2017 10:59

I do that already Pacific though I don't have a mansion pool or yacht Grin

Turneeps · 21/06/2017 21:15

But none the 'kids' look like mum or dad, week maybe Christos. But Adam and Adriana????

Muddlingalongalone · 21/06/2017 21:18

I've only watched first 4 - Julia Stiles is annoying me massively and distracting me.
Will probably watch the rest over the weekend & it's ok but it's no night manager which is was compared to in previews or big little lies which it reminds me of in terms of setting and feel.

PacificDogwod · 21/06/2017 21:27

Oh, I really like Julia Stiles.

But I am annoyed that I missed the Night Manager. Is it still available somewhere? Netflix??

OP posts:
Muddlingalongalone · 21/06/2017 21:37

I know it's a me problem not a her problem and it will sound ridiculous - but she walks funny, and I don't like her clothes (so far - it may improve)

PacificDogwod · 21/06/2017 21:38

I think I like her because she has similar non-existing upper eye lids as me and I wish I copy her eye make-up Blush

Muddlingalongalone · 21/06/2017 21:41

My netflix isn't working so can't check but the night manager on amazon prime if you have that?

Gemini69 · 21/06/2017 21:41

I downloaded the entire series... watched the episodes back to back 'its a bad habit I admit' ..

BUT....

I wish I hadn't bothered watching.. the ending was so infuriating and crap... I wanted to through my slipper at the tv...

but that's just my opinion :)

EachandEveryone · 21/06/2017 21:44

Oh I thought it was rubbish I only have one more episode to go and I can't be bothered. All those big names and all that money chucked at it. It was a huge disappointment. It made Revenge look like award winning. I just thought it was wooden. And in episode four Georgina had really ill fitting trousers on and I couldn't get over it. I just don't think she can was the right person for the part. Sorry. The scenery and houses and outfits were stunning I agree.

PacificDogwod · 21/06/2017 21:49

Yes, Gemini, I share your annoyance and feel a bit cheated.

Muddling, thank you! I will check Smile

DimsieMaitland · 21/06/2017 21:51

I thought it was awful - so disappointed. There wasn't a single sympathetic character and the family was not convincing as a family (Greek father, Scandinavian mother, grow up in France and two have RP English accents and one Estuary - so annoying!).

Gemini69 · 21/06/2017 21:51

the Actress Julia Styles is pregnant in real life which i think affected her appearance greatly...

the Daughter... I'm not sure what age she was supposed to be.. bounced around like a unhinged 10 year old.. she had skin paler than ice and bright red hair whilst.. one brother looked Greek.. the other looked Irish he was so white...

the story line was just cringe... I hated it.... the entire thing was utterly bizarre .. give me Vera.. Wallander.. The Killing ... etc anyday ...

Gemini69 · 21/06/2017 21:52

aaww thank goodness it wasn't just me lol x

sparechange · 21/06/2017 21:54

I found the first couple of episodes a bit slow but loved loved the pick up in plot pace towards the second half when she reveals herself to be badass

And thought Julia Stiles' character's costumes were out of this world.

PacificDogwod · 21/06/2017 22:01

I thought JS looked great and really healthy particularly compared to The First Mrs Clios' well-preserved skinniness. I actually actively thought that it was nice that a female main character who was clearly cast to be attractive and aspirational looked healthy and solid rather than ethereal or something. I did not know she was pregnant - that explains the very slightly thickened middle and her glow Smile

OP posts:
EachandEveryone · 21/06/2017 23:01

Julia Stiles is only just showing off her baby bump! She couldnt have been pregnant then.

Im going to have to watch the last episode arent I? Please tell me there cant be a Season 2?

I really like it. It's like a modern Dynasty.
My mum couldn't get in to as she thought Julia Stiles was Kate Moss who she can't stand Grin Her wardrobe has been beautiful. Her 'thickened middle' is about the same size as my ankle.
It is utter dross but easy to watch when I'm brain dead at night. Perhaps they could add that to the reviews?!

Muddlingalongalone · 22/06/2017 22:44

Onto episode 5 - like the blue dress at the gala. It's become compulsive viewing even though I'm struggling to find the characters likeable.
Don't trust Adrian Lester character but that might be because of that thing he was in on the beeb

PacificDogwod · 23/06/2017 09:24

Oh, the gala was very easy on the eye all round

I particularly liked many of the women's hair dos - the undos in particular. I wish I could do that.... and have a gala to waft around in
