Is anyone else watching this? He is such an arse!

OP posts:
EverySongbirdSays · 24/11/2016 21:19

With the Pinsent/Jesus thing it was to do with the Divine Right Of Kings, it was a scroll created at the time to illustrate that. It wasn't literal.

As pointed out - we probably all are related to decendants of Jesus due to Maths - they linked Boris Johnson to German kings and he said as much

"Doing the Maths so are X number of people"

I found it very amusing. I've just being mocking this over in the History Club.

i want my family to be GEEZAHS and STRONG MEN

SEVERE READIES SEVERE READIES

Grin what a cliche, Professional Londoner

He was genuinely gobsmacked about the last revelation about William The Conqueror though.

tiffanysfanny · 24/11/2016 21:23

This just made me laugh and the comments on here are even better.

BakeOffBiscuits · 24/11/2016 21:31

I found him quite endearing Hmm Grin

MitzyLeFrouf · 24/11/2016 21:33

The rhyming slang was something else. 'Oh yeah let's ave a look at those smudges'. 'I ope e's caked and baked'.

All I know is 'Apple and pears' 😂

tiffanysfanny · 24/11/2016 21:34

Better royal English bloodline than the queen I guess Grin

MitzyLeFrouf · 24/11/2016 21:36

Yeah he'll be claiming Buckingham Palace as his 'manor'.

If he's sensible he'll wait until the repairs are completed.

CherrySkull · 24/11/2016 21:51

he was an annoying tit, but i liked the episode, it was interesting.. and his GF at the end made me laugh Grin

Ledehe · 24/11/2016 22:15

Brilliant episode. Really enjoyed it and amazing for his family history to be tracedited so far back

Ankleswingers · 24/11/2016 22:20

I do have a bit of a soft spot for Danny 'Malcolm' Dyer Grin

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/11/2016 22:24

Very funny. DH is quite cross to be related to him. I reckon there's a million people descended from Edward III. DH is far more closely related to the queen but some of his ancestors were the anti Cromwell lot so that's compensated for the more distant relationship :)

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/11/2016 22:27

4 million it appears. Assuming 2 dc and no intermarrying

CremeBrulee · 24/11/2016 22:43

DD and I can't watch him now without thinking of Morgana Robinson's The Agency. Really wanted him to pretend to shoot badgers with the landowner rellies.

MinesaPinot · 24/11/2016 22:59

Actually, when I was watching it I thought he sounded just like my brother! My family come from the East End and they all talk like that, except for my mum when she's trying to be posh LOL!.

I quite enjoyed it TBH. He seemed genuinely amazed about the stuff that came up, and I did love the line about the ruff.....!

MitzyLeFrouf · 24/11/2016 23:02

And what about his walk! His geezery swagger (in his too snug jeans) is hilarious.

MitzyLeFrouf · 24/11/2016 23:04

Giddy I hope your DH is a proper man geezer with serious readies.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/11/2016 23:09

Mitzy DH can grow a proper beard Grin and doesn't walk like he's wearing a sodden nappy so that's a win for me!!

furlinedsheepskinjacket · 24/11/2016 23:14

meh

surely everybody is related to everybody

MsAdorabelleDearheartVonLipwig · 24/11/2016 23:31

We used to know Lord Tollemache, friend of a friend. Nice chap. Not related, sadly.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 24/11/2016 23:33

fir if 4 million people at a minimum are related to Edward III then yes, 1 in 15 are similarly related. DH is at least 5000 times more related.
*I'm a nobody from a marvellous line of nobodies but I'm a family history and English history buff who's been delighted that my dc have direct ancestors who loom large in my big books that pre date me & DH and of which DH knew nothing.

PterodactylToenails · 25/11/2016 01:13

I just can't stand his over the top put on cockney accent. He tries to be Ray Winston. It makes me cringe!

Yoksha · 25/11/2016 09:05

Oooh, I'm glad there's a thread on this. I thought it was an hour of pure escapism. I laughed, cringed, applauded. I like this tv programme. I wasn't a fan ever of DD. But, after this episode, he's growing on me.

His partners mirth at the end was fab. They seem a down-to-earth couple.

RedMapleLeaf · 25/11/2016 09:36

I liked the look of befuddlement that flashed across some of the experts' faces as they were confronted with Danny.

I'm not too sure who he is (guessing reality tv?) but I thought he came across as kind and not taking himself too seriously. I was annoyed with him for keeping his sunglasses on when that older man walked out to meet him in front of his castle/house.

magicstar1 · 25/11/2016 09:52

I loved him last night. Like some others, I have a soft spot for him, and I loved how caught up he got in the excitement of it all.

Nettletheelf · 25/11/2016 10:35

I read that something like 70% of British people, if you exclude families who immigrated from the last century onwards, are descended from the royal loins of Edward III. Sorry Danny!

Nettletheelf · 25/11/2016 10:38

I underestimated it. One academic reckons the probability of descent from Big Ed is 99%! Mostly because there were (relatively) so few people around in the 14th century.
