Wonder how much research they did on here?! Grin

The first scene in the car: I'm ashamed to say that was me. That did it! I really hope they make a series.

Myrobalanna · 08/09/2016 14:10

God, I read this thread yesterday and DH read the Guardian review and we love Catastrophe and everything GL has ever done, but nope.
I don't think we lasted 5 minutes.

IAmAPaleontologist · 08/09/2016 14:12

Watched on iplayer today. Fabulous.

HeyMacWey · 08/09/2016 14:15

Loved this - am a massive Sharon Horgan fan.
Hope it gets commissioned.

UnicornMadeOfPinkGlitter · 08/09/2016 16:21

I did enjoy watching it but it was no way near as funny as I was expecting. Sorry ladies you all over hyped it for me.

I can't see a series being very funny after a while.

Redglitter · 08/09/2016 19:16

Just watched this.

That's half an hour of my life I'll never get back.

Felt like I was watching a different programme to all the posters on here

PassTheCremeEggs · 08/09/2016 19:42

Loved it. It was absolutely spot on. Mummy gangs like this are the absolute worst, it's like school all over again! Painfully on the mark.

Jackie0 · 08/09/2016 20:56

Gutted it's just the pilot , I have it on the calendar to watch next week.

TheHiphopopotamus · 08/09/2016 22:35

It was...ok. Dunno if it's because I've spent too much time on here, but it seemed a bit cliched, although I loved Philomena Cunk's character.

Can't stand Graham Linehan though, so maybe I went in biased.

2014newme · 09/09/2016 09:38

Excellent, very funny and spot on. Many parents would recognise those situations, the no food for adults 😂😂😂

TheLegendOfBeans · 09/09/2016 09:53

Just watched this yesterday and it's (for me, who has a 7mo) a frightening yet I'll be accurate window into the future.

I already identify with Liz as the "odd one out" of a mummy group; I'm not as shunned as Kevin (Keith?) though 😀

Observations:

  1. I adore Sharon Horgan. Catastrophe amazing, series 2 episode 2 resonated hard with me
  2. I love the fact that sappy Kevin was played by the same actor that played the terrifying Lee, dapper torturer from Utopia
  3. I love the fact that Diane Morgan may as well change her name to Philomena Cunk now and have done with it
2kids2dogsnosense · 09/09/2016 20:35

Just watched it on iPlayer - it was brilliant!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 10/09/2016 08:35

Watched it last night after a friend mentioned it and having seen this thread.

I agree with Redglitter, half an hour of my life I won't get back, won't be watching if there's a series. It wasn't remotely funny and I didn't identify with any of them, even though I am a mum of primary school age DCs who messed up childcare for the last week of the holidays and meets up with friends for coffee every week.

diddl · 10/09/2016 15:48

It wasn't very funny, was it?

I did like it when her mum was hiding & then closed the door.

That's about it.

JustDanceAddict · 10/09/2016 20:08

tyere were some v funny bits: red light & leftovers (that would be me), although I've never taken my kids to school in the holidays, frozen cheese or been left with no childcare/been fobbed off with half a dozen kids!

Lilaclily · 10/09/2016 20:09

I loved it !
Is it in again?

Lules · 10/09/2016 20:12

I watched 5 minutes of it and had to turn it off it irritated me so much. I loved Catastrophe so maybe it's just because i don't have school aged children yet?

Wayfarersonbaby · 10/09/2016 20:21

It was quite enjoyable but all a bit too "North London circa 2003" for me - seemed like the writers were people who'd had primary-age kids a decade or so ago, before that kind of lifestyle got way too expensive!

These days no-one I know in the south east with primary school kids can afford to live in places like that, it's more 2-bed flat in Lewisham even for the very high earners. You'd need to be living off a seriously banker-tastic salary in 2016 to have a London house like that and be a sahm hanging out in cafes like Amanda.

Mumstudentbum · 11/09/2016 15:28

Me and Dp just watched this on Iplayer and we loved it! We were both gutted to learn it was a one off and would've defo watched a series if available. Not many good comedies on tv these days so I hope it gets commissioned for a series :)

drigon · 11/09/2016 18:01

Quite good. I enjoyed the main character and Queen Bitch. Frantic Mum was well played by Anna Maxwell-Martin (hope I got name right.)

penguinpie · 11/09/2016 20:40

I didn't get why everyone was hanging out at the same cafe during half term..is that something that happens?

BIWI · 11/09/2016 21:11

I thought it was dreadful. A total pisstake and so massively stereotypical.

After all the rave reviews I was really disappointed.

Hygellig · 12/09/2016 12:38

I thought it was quite funny if a bit over the top. It did remind me of Mumsnet rather than reflecting my experience so far of having children.

I liked Julia's mum hiding, and Julia preferring to invent a story about bullying rather than admit she'd forgotten it was half term. Then Amanda's comments on loving her children too much to be able to work.

I hope it gets commissioned for a series.

Panicmode1 · 12/09/2016 13:38

I watched after all of the rave reviews and was bitterly disappointed - I agree wholeheartedly with those who said it was stereotyped. I think I vaguely sniggered once and thought it was awful.

BIWI · 12/09/2016 13:59

It's totally patronising in the way it exaggerates the women in it too.

Poking fun at women.
