Wonder how much research they did on here?! Grin

OP posts:

I quite enjoyed it! The recipe, hah! "... Eggs." I'd watch it if they made it into a series.

MsVestibule · 07/09/2016 15:42

I loved it! Especially the scene where she was talking to her husband on the phone - he was in a cafe, choosing a cake, while she was in meltdown over childcare. His 'soothing' response, along the lines of 'Honestly, whatever childcare option you choose is absolutely fine by me' made me laugh and grind my teeth at the same time.

Theres no food for the adults!!!!! pmsl

bakeoffcake · 07/09/2016 16:35

I absolutley loved it.

"Have you forgotten it's half term?"
"Erm, no, no I haven't" Grin

I hope they make a series.

2kids2dogsnosense · 07/09/2016 16:40

Thanks for the tip-off! Am going to watch it on iplayer - anything written by Graham Lineman has got to be good.

bibliomania · 07/09/2016 16:47

Ooh yes, MsVest, the husband was infuriating!

humblesims · 07/09/2016 16:48

great stuff. Love Sharon Horgan. I've never seen Anna Maxwell Martin in a comedy before I thought she was great. And I love Philemena Cunk. Hope they do make a series.

SukiPutTheEarlGreyOn · 07/09/2016 16:57

Mine are all at secondary now so this was a bracing reminder of the primary years school gates stuff. The 'no food for adults' scene reminded me of getting a look from host for pinching a sausage-on-a-stick from my DDs plate at classmate's bday party...ok, it might have also included a mini sausage roll and a smidge of quiche - was seriously crazed with hunger and DD far more interested in getting back to the party games. Hope the commisioning team are reading comments on here and opt for a full series.

StaceyMummyof3 · 07/09/2016 17:10

Sounds hilarious ..might check it out
Yet to experience all the different mum's dc1 just started P1, but did get a little idea from preschool lol

There are a couple of books I've read by Author Christine Barlow

  • a year in the life of a playground mother
  • the misadventures of a playground mother

Really funny..(fiction)I don't know how many examples of mum's are true but they are worth a read

ImperialBlether · 07/09/2016 17:12

I had to watch this behind a cushion - absolutely brilliant. It really was like a day in the life of Mumsnet.

LurkyLurkerMcLurkface · 07/09/2016 17:13

It was excellent! And I want to know where the red coat came from!

BusStopBetty · 07/09/2016 17:20

I really enjoyed it.

BusStopBetty · 07/09/2016 17:22

I would say more, but I'm doing the post work school run and thinking about what the fuck I can cook that takes 3 minutes and doesn't require a shopping trip.

RaRaRamona · 07/09/2016 20:46

Loved it.
Recognised all the types for my school run days , especially the bland boring conformist one. Was she called Ann?

Helmetbymidnight · 07/09/2016 21:00

Really enjoyed it. I always love Philomena Cunk - liked the finger accident bit. And Anna Maxted Martin is great.

Here's an article about the making of it - (MN gets a mention).

I've been the starving adult while the kids are fed at someone else's house. Like a child I also get grumpy when I'm hungry so I related to that bit.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 07/09/2016 21:36

Thank you op, I watched it because of you. Absolutely loved it. Might watch it again actually.
Love Lucy Punch she is always very watchable, also the lady from that thing she does with Barry Shitpeas. I like her too.
You know, that programme with the man married to the woman off Blue Peter.
Probably should have googled before I started writing this twaddle.

justdontevenfuckingstart · 07/09/2016 21:39

RTFT, Philomena! (that was to myself) really hope this gets commissioned.

GwendolynPost · 07/09/2016 21:41

We had an Amanda at DD3's infant school. Now they've moved up to juniors I'm giddy with anticipation....there's an Amanda there too.

What will happen when two Amanda's collide?

DH and I really enjoyed Motherland, especially the middle finger.

MsVestibule · 07/09/2016 22:38

just

Diane Morgan played Philomena Cunk on Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe. Charlie Brooker is married to Konnie Huq.

You"re welcome Grin.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 07/09/2016 22:59

Absolutely loved it here too, especially the 'traffic light for no discernible reason'. Very well-observed. I'd definitely watch if it was made into a series but I do wonder how much mileage there'd be.

LowDudgeon · 08/09/2016 11:51

Indie review

"whoever it is that runs mumsnet"

Ouch Grin

Motherland - anyone watching?!
YesAnastasia · 08/09/2016 12:38

Just watched it and thought it was very good. Genuinely laughed out load. Then tried to record series :(

Fortunately, DC's little primary school is down to earth and there are no extremes like that. But I think most of us can identify with bits of all the characters (Even Amanda for me, shamefully Sad)

FTFOAFOSM · 08/09/2016 13:59

Surely the indie have got it all wrong with that call? It should be 'whoever runs nethuns' OBVS!! :D

FTFOAFOSM · 08/09/2016 14:01

I loved it - and so did DD, who just sat there complaining that the neuro-typical children didn't need their hands holding in the street, didn't need watching like a hawk like the 2 DSs with ASD here and that the parents didn't have enough food smeared on them. Can you tell I must be a Liz? :D
