New series on E4

Who's watching? Looks interesting

That's a good point. There's no sign of life support machines, drips, any monitoring devices....

NeedACleverNN · 24/07/2016 16:03

Yes. I would have thought they would try drips or something on those really suffering hoping to find a cure. Or at least help the people suffering

Some of you are expecting a lot considering the outbreak is only about two or three days old. Wink

MrsJoeyMaynard · 24/07/2016 16:44

Well, when you think about it, if you went to hospital with those symptoms, and people were dying, you might reasonably expect the doctors to be running a few tests, and offering something to at least treat symptoms.
I don't think I've seen as much as a box of tissues / wet wipes in with the quarentined patients.

spanky2 · 25/07/2016 09:04

That poor doctor didn't even get a comfy pyjamas!

I was surprised when they led the infected girl through the corridor, and she was touching the windows - I would have thought they would have covered her and masked her - I work on reception in a hospital, when we send a patient home who has flu they have to wear a mask!
Not seen evidence of any steam cleaning of corridors either - and people seem to be allowed to wander freely. If we get a D&V outbreak, all non-essential movement of staff between wards is not allowed. OK so it's only been 48 hours but they seem a bit slapdash!

Rollergirl1 · 28/07/2016 19:08

I thought it was utter shite. They were letting the policeman who has been in direct contact with Patient Zero just wonder around the hospital with the teacher and then they let him go in the room with all the kids at the end. Not to mention his ridiculous hissy-fit at his mate for sending him there.

The acting is dire and the whole thing just seems poorly produced/edited (no break bumpers with the program going straight from an ad back to the program, couple of times where the same scene was shown before and after an ad break)

I will watch the 2nd one to see if it picks up but not holding out much hope.

Yep I agree it's looking increasingly disappointing, going the same wY as Revolution and the 100 Sad

MrsJoeyMaynard · 28/07/2016 22:32

Just caught up with the latest episode.

They have rubbish security systems in that hospital.
And yes - surely most hospitals employ porters to move heavy things, and patients, around? Couldn't they find a porter or two to heave bodies into the furnace? Or whoever it was who'd been moving bodies from the isolation ward to the boiler room?

Bit of a waste of your only research doctor to have him heaving dead bodies around in this kind of plague situation.

SestraClone · 30/07/2016 20:08

I watched it at US pace and it ended up so crap :( disappointing.

gingerboy1912 · 30/07/2016 21:04

Anyone watched Z nation? Is it any good?

Blondeshavemorefun · 30/07/2016 22:02

Hmmmmmm Revolution. I rem that with Monroe. Gave up with s2 so glad this is a one off

Agree virus is only 48hrs old and they don't know the power of it yet hence no drugs to the newly infected

With all the school children there I assume none of them will get infected therefore it's something in their dna/immune system that will save them

Or that could be total bollocks 😁😁

MrsJoeyMaynard · 30/07/2016 22:44

I watched the first episode of Z Nation. That was enough for me.

And while it would be nice if all the school children were immune, we already know that's not the case. The first bit of episode 1 had a clip from some time post outbreak. I forget how many days it said. Lots of chaos, shouty people etc, one of the people pictured was the teacher, carrying an infected looking school child in her arms and calling for help. So at least one of the kids gets infected.

I've just caught up on E3 and I'm wondering why it's taken so long for order to break down inside the cordon, as I seem to recall things went south pretty quickly during Hurricane Katrina.

SestraClone · 03/08/2016 12:40

The ending is very disappointing. I don't think they knew how to end it so just stopped.

Izzabellasasperella · 07/08/2016 08:37

So a virus that is going to wipe out humankind has one doctor working on a vaccine but he can't get the drugs he needs because of red tape!

JedRambosteen · 07/08/2016 08:51

Yeah. Have they not considered an aid drop using helicopters or a plane?

MrsJoeyMaynard · 07/08/2016 09:41

Lots of big hospitals have helipads , don't they?

You'd think they could hover over a helipad on the roof of the hospital and throw a few boxes of medical supplies down. Same with food etc if they found a bit of open ground.

Housemum · 08/08/2016 17:59

And how come Leo could easily pick up the catapulted drone footage - why was there no one watching from outside to see what is happening round the cordon? I can understand the lack of available people inside, but surely you would monitor every foot of wall? What if someone inside was a terrorist and wanted to catapult out some infected tissue? (Though I think they said something about it not surviving long outside the body as a neat way of allowing the policeman to dispose of the bodies).
Obviously policeman and teacher are getting on too well so one of them must catch it. Like in the war films where someone says they can't wait to see their sweetheart again - dead.

MrsJoeyMaynard · 08/08/2016 18:23

Catapulting stuff out wouldn't have to be a deliberate attempt to spread infection to be a problem.

What if someone wanted to throw a personal memento to someone on the other side, or a message to a loved one? All you need is for the person doing the throwing to be infected, sweat all over the item, someone on the other side to pick it up immediately without gloves etc.... and boom. Cordon breached.

So yes - dumb move to not be monitoring the perimeter. Surely they could use CCTV footage and have people watching that, if they don't have enough police etc to continuously man every bit of it? Or some sort of double fence with a sizeable width of no mans land between the two fences?
