All parents want the best for their children but more people than ever seem to be turning into panic-stricken obsessives in their over-zealous attempts to get it all absolutely right.

As this series shows, the madness can descend on many fronts ? from competing against other parents to plan the most elaborate birthday party for their precious offspring, to the quest for the perfect family holiday.

Then there are the lengths parents will go to to get the very best for their child, whether faking church attendance for the sake of a decent school entry or spending all weekend doing their child's complicated school project, alone.

A selection of bemused mums and dads reflect on their madder moments in this entertaining, witty and affectionate look at the absurd behaviour being displayed by parents all over Britain.

I thought it was really funny..! It voiced my every fear about parties, most of the reasons why I've never had one (cost being the main one, which didn't seem to bother them... ) - and I was sure at least some must have been MNers!!

I don't know if they were all mners but they quoted mn in an article about the prog in Sunday's Observer

Bloody hilarious. Especially "No! Don't come as Peter Pan" and the Barbie cake.

I'd love to know what they would have made of dd's 2nd birthday that went on till 2am and I was so drunk the guests had to step over me to get out of the door.

I was crying with laughter at some of it..probably due to the fact that I have DS1's party on Saturday!

uqd - it was tapenade. (felt strangely compelled to answer you, not sure why). I thought they are all very much of a type. mostly not of the type that would live in the house they kept showing.
