Perhaps he was paying off debts which he incurred before shacking up (rent free!) with Stacey as he was sleeping in a van and getting very stressed out about losing his home originally.

A more realistic storyline would be Stacey applying for ESA/PIP and being treated like crap by the DWP whilst Martin becomes her carer for the massive sum of £62.10 a week and they try to untangle the labyrinthine system of housing and council tax benefits and their entitlement to Income Support, before being moved onto Universal Credit and being fucked over by the State.

But I suspect instead they'll just moan on about being skint whilst Martin diversifies into kumquats until he robs the post office.

Why would Stacey get SMP? Doesn't she work on the market. She may get maternity allowance depending on her national Insurance contributions.

None of the stall holders seem to work many hours!

Are the stall holders all self-employed?

Well as CostMart is opening up they'll all have to give up their stalls and find employment.
Am glad Nancy is leaving so that this tedious storyline can end.

Ah they won't a million! Ok fair enough not a lot of money then really.

I would assume stall holders are self employed- the are running small businesses badly.

You never see them come home, count money, do paperwork.

Where is the stock kept? Does it just stay up all night?

Who are your fave/least fave characters? I love Shirley, Nancy, Tamwar, Kim and Buster. Don't like Babe, Tina, Sonia. Ian pisses me off too.

Don't mind any of the characters except Babe.

Fav characters are Denise Kim Masood (when hes not being arsey) Shirley and Buster,

Least favourite Babe and Lee .everybody else i can take or leave.

I thought the stalls were cash in hand money, and a lot of them aren't declared? So they're all on sneaky benefits, wheeling and dealing to try for extra. Could some residents of Walfard square (like Donna) be claiming Disability Benefits and perhaps get a fair amount of rent help/housing benefit if only working x hours a week?Then you have the local buisness owners are are declared and tax legit like Ian who got lucky getting the house instead of Martin and just pays the mortgage on the chip shop building. Are sharon and Ronnie good businesswomen? Or do they just have the most cash to play with through family money? I can't remember, how did Kat and Alfie end up running the Vic?

I found it unbelievable that Johnny literally knew NOTHING that had happened over the last year?

Even to the point he had seen photos of his dad getting married in a dressing gown?

Had he been in a cave in Italy?

Am sure his parents went to stay with several times in Italy last year.

Yes unimaginative totally bonkers that Jonny knew nothing at all. Especially as his parents visited him on their honeymoon.

The whole money thing is bonkers, I am sure its because the writers do not want to be get bogged down with too much about how you would go about claiming or if they would be entitled to anything etc etc. Martin had the money to the USA in a hurry the other week.
Johnny not knowing anything is also odd, today there is email and skype and they went to see him too in January for a long while. I think they hope we don't notice.

They seem to have transplanted Nancy's storylines on to Johnny. My guess is he wouldn't be there if Maddy Hill was staying.

Sounds probable re Linzi. She just has to be underage, doesn't she? I can't think what else Jay's big 2016 story could be at this stage. The actress who plays her mum is coming back into it next week but hopefully just for one episode as she overacted when she was in the show a few months ago.

The thing is Jay hasn't actually slept with her yet. So is it going to be a case of him wanting to keep seeing her even though she is just a kid? Pretty crap storyline really.
