to a specific genre of fanfic known as slash...

Bucketsofdynomite · 04/01/2007 16:34

PMSL Iklboo!

MrsFish · 04/01/2007 16:45

Just finished watching it now, thought it was fab, must admit to having a tear in my eye.

I also concur about the jack/jack snog, I thought it was sexy too.

nikkie · 04/01/2007 19:48

No actual man/man action until the kisses this week, lots of suggestions of it though.

smittenkitten · 04/01/2007 20:37

Iklboo - LOL re john barrowman's script edits!!!

i thought i was a dirty deviant for finding boy on boy kissing v sexy. eithe rit's more mainstream than i thought, or MN is full of other deviants.

Binker - have you seen queer as folk?

MrsBadger · 04/01/2007 21:00

well, put it this way - think how many men find lesbian scenarios particularly appealing... why should we miss out?

nikkie · 04/01/2007 21:11

I'm not interested in the man/man stuff or the woman/woman stuff or Owen thrusting ,I want more story (and monster stuff! )

justamum · 05/01/2007 00:20

Mrs Badger, I have been thinking along the same lines! Isn't that wierd, for years straight men have found lesbian action a turn on and suddenly women are finding gay men sexy. Maybe its not so wierd! I've changed my work login password to captainjack is that sad? I'd be really ashamed if I had to tell anyone in rl

binker · 05/01/2007 16:06

smittenkitten - watched a bit of Queer as Folk, kind of missed out on it at the beginning and am not good at catching on once something has started (but liked what I saw). Justamum - don't be ashamed !! I've just sent one friend a picture of JB in a kilt and confessed to another (male, straight) friend that I'm obsessed with Captain Jack - I don't know why the kiss should be so romantic/sexy but it was - probably because both men are good looking and it was just very tender and lovely - watched it again on BB3 last night - I am a saddo - also, JB's man friend is pretty cute too (in real life)- I think the thing might be that JB and Captain Jack is bi sexual ...

JB said when interviewed by Gloria Hunniford at the weekend that he viewed kissing the doctor just like he viewed kissing whoever Billie Pipper plays - he said it was because he loved him with a passion as he did BP and their was nothign sexual in it - god DH would slap another man who kissed him like that!!

DominiConnor · 05/01/2007 16:19

I thought the gay kiss was well done.
I recall the writer saying that the reason they wanted to do Torchwood was that Dr. Who doesn't let you do blood or kissing.
So we got what we were promised.

At it's best Torchwood is not only the best SF on TV, but arguably the best drama of any kind produced in Britain.
But at it's worst....

To me the finale managed to hit both extremes.
The characters are good, and Captain Jack is the only plausible gay on TV. Look at the idiot in Coronation Street.
But the monster bit at the end was shit. Toally crap, and the "fight" was to me quite boring.

In general the characters are more plausible than in most action dramas, reacting more like real people to the effects of the traumas.

Captian Kirk snogged women who died and/or turned out to be salt sucking aliens, and phasered them with not a hint of remorse.
In Torchwood, the bloke whose girlfriend turned into an evil cyborg is still not over it, and one can wonder if that is going to resurface. I've had some fallings out with my bosses, but nneo ever shoe the woman I loved.

smittenkitten · 05/01/2007 16:20

Dior - i think that's because elton john is not attractive, not because Cptn Jack is bi! two attractive men going for it - always a good thing!

(smittenkitten, every time I see your username I think of Ianto calling the resurrection gauntlet the 'risen mitten'. Which I suppose is appropriate in the context of the thread, but is making me snigger at my desk...)

serenity · 05/01/2007 16:31

I lurved the jack/jack kiss, but was moved more by the jack/ianto one. After the ending I am now rubbing my hands in (deviant?) anticipation of a capt' jack/doctor snogfest.

and yes, I do like slash fiction - first i ever read was a bit of a knee trembler between Xander and Angel It has to be two fanciable men though, which is why Elton John just wouldn't do it for me.

Back to the episode, I actually really enjoyed it although I was disappointed that everyone trusted the sinster creepy guy over Jack.

Sarah Jane Adventures was pretty good too. DD was really creeped out by the 'scarey green octopus monster climbing the stairs'.

MrsBadger · 05/01/2007 16:33

oh serenity, I read a Xander and Spike one!

DumbledoresGirl · 05/01/2007 16:34

Oh joy! It is on again tonight and dh is not here this evening so I will be able to watch all the action this time without having to hide my interest!

serenity · 05/01/2007 16:34

For some reason that doesn't sit right - now Angel and Spike, that's a different story ( and one I would only share under an assumed name )

charliegal · 05/01/2007 16:35

What have I been missing, not watching Torchwood.
btw, some of us are gay and we complained everyone there was hetero sex on tv...imagine.

i don't get the jack/ianto thing. i feel like i missed something. there have been references - the stopwatch reference which i just didn't get, and owen making the comment about ianto being his shag ont he side, but we've never seen them touch or talk intimately, and Ianto was in love with his cyber girlfriend and has moped all series after her. him and jack being all tender just doesn't make sense to me.

DominiConnor · 05/01/2007 18:13

There are references to Captain Jack as "pansexual" willing to have sex with males, females and aliens.
I think he has history with everyone in Torchwood (or Future given that he's now in a Tardis...)
